First timer here. I finally got my build to work today and didn't follow the instructions right when putting the OS on it.

Instead of going out and using a cheap USB I was lazy and used my 2TB external hard drive before I realized the process would wipe its contents.

That sucks. Wouldn't mind getting my data back if anyone knows how but the damage is done I guess.

My main problem now is that for some reason, of the 2TB that was on it before (of which a few hundred gb was still free) is totally gone. My file Explorer is telling me there's less than 40gb of space available, of which only 20 or so is free.

Anyone know how to recover the missing space?

Long story short I built a Gaming PC for my GF and gave her my old Ryzen 7 3700x and got myself a new Ryzen 7 5700X3D.

I researched the 5700X3D after some of my coworkers recommended it as a good upgrade from my 3700x and it did seem like a good option.

After getting it and putting it in my rig, my overall Time Spy scores are much lower than before. The CPU consistently scores about 6-7k, while my old 3700x would easily get around 9k. I'm getting a lower average FPS in games. Watching GPUz CPUz and Task Manager, I don't see any obvious bottleneck, and I updated my Bios to make sure it wasn't that.

Maybe I was bamboozled and this wasn't a great upgrade but I think I'm missing something or that I just severely lost the lottery here.

Any Suggestions?

I currently have all parts for my PC and was looking to stick with NVIDIA 4070 ti super Out of curiosity from previous years is it worth it to wait for the 50’s. I would spend a little more and wait if really necessary

I am getting ready to build my first PC and already have most of my components delivered. I bought a TP link AX1800 with WiFi 6 and Bluetooth. But now the news if full of stuff about a looming ban for TP link routers. Would these same issues apply to WiFi cards? Are there security vulnerabilities for WiFi cards like are possible with routers?

I don't necessarily have high security needs but no reason to install a part that might not receive updates or other support in the near future, on top of (alleged) lagging security fixes.

It is hard to find a card with the same specs for a similar price. If it would make sense to get a different card does anyone have any recommendations?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

For reference here is my build list.

This thread is for simple questions that don't warrant their own thread (although we strongly suggest checking the sidebar and the wiki before posting!). Please don't post involved questions that are better suited to a [Build Help], [Build Ready] or [Build Complete] post. Examples of questions suitable for here:

  • Is this RAM compatible with my motherboard?
  • I'm thinking of getting a ≤$300 graphics card. Which one should I get?
  • I'm on a very tight budget and I'm looking for a case ≤$50

Remember that Discord is great places to ask quick questions as well: http://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc/wiki/livechat
