I just bought a 32" 4k 240hz woled monitor that has dual mode to 1080p 480hz.(free returns)

But for the same price, I can get a 27" 1440p 480hz oled monitor.

The only other benefit I see is that the 1440p one has dp 2.1 while the other monitor has hdmi 2.1 + dp 1.4

Update: looks like I'm keeping the 4k monitor, thanks everyone!

Hi

Want to buy this combo but a warning pops up on PCPP

"Warning: The ASRock B850 Pro RS WiFi ATX AM5 Motherboard supports the AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D 4.2 GHz 8-Core Processor with BIOS version 3.11. If the motherboard is using an older BIOS version, updating the BIOS will be necessary to support the CPU."

Is there anyone in here that have this combo of MB and CPU and it works ?

thanks

I'm seeing some GPU's for a lower price on some sites, but have no idea if they are legit.

What sites are safe/legit, to buy PC parts? A grand for a 4070 Ti is a joke. So I want to find more legit sites to look at GPU's. Thanks

Hey everyone, I just built my new PC 9800X3D, 64GB RAM, and all that good stuff—but I’m still missing a GPU. I’m trying to decide between:

  1. RX 7900 XTX (which is more or less available)
  2. RTX 5080 (waiting a few months)
  3. RTX 5090 (also waiting a few months)

If money wasn’t a factor, what would you do? Would you grab the 7900 XTX now or wait for a next-gen 5080/5090?

Also, I’d really like to test ray tracing for myself to form my own opinion and not at 30 FPS if possible. Curious to hear your thoughts!

EDIT : 1440p gaming (maybe 4k one day)

EDIT 2 : let's add some prics (France)

RX 7900 XTX (available now for around 900–1,200€ (~$960–1,280 USD))

RTX 5080 (waiting a few months, estimated at 1,200–1,800€ (~$1,280–1,920 USD))

RTX 5090 (waiting a few months, estimated at 2,500–3,500€ (~$2,670–3,740 USD))

I picked up a GTX 980 Ti back in summer 2015 for $670, which is about $890 in today’s money after adjusting for inflation. Just grabbed a 5070 Ti for $909, which is arguably the third-best card of this generation.

Yeah, GPU prices are high, but looking at it this way, they haven’t skyrocketed as much as people make it seem. Sure, flagship cards are getting crazy expensive, but the high-end tier has always been pricey. Performance jumps and features like DLSS and RT also make these newer cards way more capable than their older counterparts.

Just food for a thought.

I wasn’t planning on upgrading yet but my wife got me a 9800x3d and an x870 mobo. I was previously using a 10700k and a Strix 3070. I was able to get a MSI gaming trio OC for $860 from Newegg yesterday. Should I use the 5070ti now or wait for things to cool off.

Do Gaming PC requires Antivirus s/w?

I see many saying the Windows Defender is enough. If so is there any default set of checklist that I need to make sure is correct in my new PC?

Will windows Defender safeguards us from malicious websites? Is there any settings I need to enable or disable?

How to scan the pen drives/External HDD?

Hey everyone,

I’m planning to upgrade my current rig (Ryzen 5 5600x + RX 6800 WQHD), and I’m stuck between a few CPU options and motherboard types. I’ve got $600 to spend and could stretch to $850 if it’s worth it for something "futureproof." Here’s where I’m at, hoping you all can help me decide!

CPU Options :

All prices include CPU + motherboard + RAM:

  1. Ryzen 7 9800X3D ($850 total)
    • Top-tier gaming performance with that 3D V-Cache magic (heard it’s like 30% better than the 9700X in some games).
    • I’d need to add $250 more, but it seems like the best “futureproof” choice. Worth the stretch?
  2. Ryzen 7 9700X ($600 total)
    • Fits my $600 budget perfectly and still a solid upgrade from my 5600x (20-30% boost?).
    • Not as gaming-focused as the X3D chips, will I regret skipping the cache?
  3. Ryzen 7 7800X3D (~$720 total)
    • Last-gen but still killer for gaming, only $85 extra. A sweet spot, but is it as “futureproof” as the 9800X3D?

I play all kinds of games in 1440p UltraWide : competitive titles, single-player stuff, some that are super demanding, others that aren’t. Lately, I’ve been feeling like my current CPU is struggling with some of them, and I think just swapping it out could give me a pretty big performance boost. With my RX 6800 at 1440p UltraWide, I know the GPU might bottleneck sometimes, but I’m aiming for smooth 1% lows and room to grow. Which CPU would you go for?

Motherboard Dilemma :

If I pick the 9800X3D (or even the 9700X), I’m torn between chipset types:

  • B650E
    • PCIe 5.0 for GPU and M.2, Wi-Fi 6, solid VRMs. Seems good enough for my RX 6800 and a future GPU upgrade.
  • X870
    • USB4, Wi-Fi 7, better RAM support. Overkill now, but more “futureproof” for DDR5 speeds and next-gen GPUs?

I do enjoy overclocking a bit, I’m not a hardcore enthusiast, just someone who likes tinkering until I find a setup I’m happy with, then I leave it as is. Is the X870 worth the extra cost over a B650E for longevity, or am I fine with B650E? What chipset type would you recommend for my use case?

Budget Breakdown :

  • $600: Covers something like a 9700X + motherboard + 32GB DDR5-6000 CL30.
  • $850: Gets me the 9800X3D + motherboard + DDR5-6400 CL32.
  • $720: 7800X3D + motherboard + DDR5-6000.

Questions for You

  1. For 1440p gaming with an RX 6800, which CPU would you pick? Is the 9800X3D’s extra $250 worth it over the 7800X3D or 9700X?
  2. B650E vs X870, any real difference for my use case, or is X870 just overkill? Which chipset type should I go for?

Thanks for the input! Trying to make this upgrade last 5+ years.

As per title.

How can any DLSS or similar do anything than ale a signal worse ? Native comes out the GPU then displayed right ? DLSS or nay others molest the signal ? True? But somehow make it better

Isbtisball just marketing?

I ask because I need 3 new GPU's and need them to be right currently it's either 7900XTX or a 5070Ti or 4070Ti-s

I had a 1660Ti, and it had a single 6-pin connector

ASUS TUF 3080 has two 8-pin connectors, and I realised that I had daisy-chained the 8-pins together.

The card has 2 plugs and a PCI-E slot, total power delivery is 375W (150+150+75), while the card's TDP is 320W. If I have daisy-chained cables, will it affect power delivery?

I have a 750W PSU (Corsair RM750), is it ok to run the card with daisy-chained connectors?

I have a 5800X (non-OC), and a lot of fans and drives, so I am worried that the wattage might not be enough for the 3080 in intensive games, when it's daisy-chained (even though I played MSFS at decently high settings and everything was ok).

Am I overthinking it or should I get seperate cables to power my 3080?

EDIT: redid the cables, just in case

What do you use to benchmark used GPU?

What tests do you use to determine whether an old GPU is still good? Most results I've found are pretty old:

  • FurMark for stress test
  • 3dMark for rendering
  • GPU-Z to see if it's legit

Is this correct? Are they still valid?

Hello, everyone. My aunt recently bought me a new PC as a gift, and I’m feeling a bit unsure about its value. We live in Quebec, Canada, and I’m a novice when it comes to PC building, although I know some basics. I’ve never actually built a entire PC by myself, and being cautious about spending a lot of money, I probably would’ve waited an eternity to build one on my own.

So my aunt dragged me to a local computer shop. After some discussions with the owner, she ended up buying the fellowing setup for $4160 (including taxes and labor). Here are the specs:

SPECS (COMPUTER SHOP): * GPU: MSI RTX 4060 TI 8GB Monster Hunter Edition (upgraded to an ASUS TUF 4070 Super 12GB) * CPU: Intel i7-12700KF (12 cores, 20 threads) * Cooler: MSI E360 Liquid Cooler Monster Hunter Edition * RAM: G. Skill DDR5 2x16GB * STORAGE: Kingston KC3000 2TB SSD * PSU: MSI PCIe 5, 750W, 80+ Gold Modular * CASE: MSI GUNGNIR 300 Monster Hunter Edition

We ended up upgrading the GPU to a 4070 12GB Super for an additional $679, bringing the total cost to $4160.

I had originally wanted to spend around $2500 for a new pc with maybe older gen parts or even refurbished, but from what I could understand the shop did not have neither of those in stock. I was expecting this particular built to be around $3000-3500 (including labor and taxes). After looking up prices online, I’m starting to feel like we might’ve overpaid a little. Here’s a breakdown of what I found, the receipt only showed the overhaul price of the entire built not for each part so I had to search for each of them.

BREAKDOWN: * MSI Monster Hunter bundle (case, cooler, motherboard) $940 * 4060ti 8GB GPU Monster Hunter Edition $690 or the 4070 Super 12GB: $1200 * CPU: $250 * PSU: $150 * RAM: $133 * SSD: $220 * CPU BENDING BRACKET: $23 * Labor: $500 (rough estimate) (it’s a simple build, no custom loop or anything really specific)

TOTAL: $3360 (with taxes) without labor, adding it ($500) brings the total to around $3854. Keep in mind that we saw this build running on the store shelf for about 5 months. So we did overpaid?

I also did some research on an alternative build and pricing.

ALTERNATIVE BUILD: * GPU: Sapphire AMD Radeon 7900XT 20GB ($1818) * CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D ($649) * PSU: MSI MAG A850GL PCIE5 850w 80+ GOLD (160$) * MB: ASUS TUF GAMING B850-PLUS WIFI (AMD 7000, 8000, 9000 series) ($340) * RAM: CRUCIAL 2x 16GB 6000 MHz ($120) * CPU COOLER: NZXT 360mm AIO Liquid Cooler ($229) or NOCTUA NH-D15 ($140) * COOLING: 120mm fans (got some already) * SSD: WD BLACK SN770 2TB NVMe M.2 ($174) * Case: NZXT H6 Flow ($120)

TOTAL (with taxes) is around $4152 with the 7900 XT and $3341 with the 4070 super

Was this $4160 (from the computer shop) build worth it with the current prices or am I overthinking it? This PC was a humongous investment for us, as we won’t be able to afford another one for at least 6-7 years or ever… It comes with a 1 year limited warranty from the computer shop. What’s a usual labor fee for a simple build?

I’d be using this pc for primarily to run heavily modded games at at least 1080p (HDR) on medium settings if needed, but at high if it can handle it (60 fps is gold) and recording at the same time. I do use apps like blender, gimp, adobe and do some video/ photo editing and handle large files. RTX is optional and not a issue if I didn’t have it. Needed at the very least 8gb of vram for the gpu if the price was low enough, but for $3000 and more desktop I really wanted a higher end gpu and more vram. If it matters, performance, good temps and upgradability in the long run was the most important for me, but looks not really.

I haven't had a PC in a few years, so I'm building one mostly from scratch. It's probably going to be used for 75% GPU-heavy work (CUDA is a hard requirement here) and 25% gaming.

Obviously 50-series Nvidia GPUs are hard to get at the moment, and on principle I'm not going to buy from a scalper. I haven't heard many good things about the 4060ti, but it's also the only card I can seem to find at MSRP right now. Is it really as bad as the gamer crowd likes to say it is? If I buy one now and wait a few months for newer GPUs to come back in stock, am I just wasting my money?

I currently have a 3060ti with a 1440p 180hz ips monitor. Reason for upgrade is vram and playing with higher settings. Is 7800xt a worthwhile upgrade? Or should I wait few months until market adjusts? I am also concerned about the prices increasing by a lot on these new gpus.

I'm finally upgrading after 5 years. Coming from a 2070 super/ AMD Ryzen 7 3800x. Very happy and excited for this build. I might build it myself or get help haha idk yet. I did not build my first PC.

Let me know if everything seems well and the parts compliment eachother.

GPU: 5070 ti AORUS MASTER

CPU: Ryzen 7 9800 x3D Or Ryzen 7800 x3D (Depending on availaibity and price) would I be ok with the 7800 x3D to release the full potetntial of the PC ?

Motherboard: ASUS ROG Strix X870-A Gaming WiFi AMD AM5 X870 ATX Motherboard

RAM: CORSAIR VENGEANCE RGB DDR5 RAM 32GB (2x16GB) 6000MHz

SSD: M.2 SSD Samsung 990

Power supply: Something at 1000W for sure. Do I need to be picky and choose a specfic Power supply for this PC? just curios how the selection procces for a Power supply goes besides the wats.

Cpu cooler: Either the ASUS ROG Ryujin III 360 ARGB WHT All (kinda pricy haha, will see) or the ASUS ROG RYUO III 360 ARGB.

hello everyone,

I was looking to upgrade my gpu with nvidia 5000 series but because of all the shenanigans I just upgraded my system from am4 to am5 with a 9800x3d. With the price inflation of gpus i might be able to sell my 4070 super for around 600 and get a 7900xtx for around 1k.

My main concern to be honest is FSR vs DLSS. Will I even need FSR to get better performance? I want the card for high refresh rate 1440p gaming. Will FSR 4 come to the 7900xtx? DLSS 4 was great, I got free performance in many games. I am just a bit on an impasse, I don't know what is the right choice. Anyone has any opinions that might help me decide?

I’m building my first PC ever. I’ve already acquired everything minus the GPU. I have the chance to snag a 4070 Super for $600 or get a 5070 TI for $999. I know that’s much higher than MSRP, but I’m willing to pay it if I have to.

But, would a 4070 Super suffice? I’ll be playing mostly single player stuff in 1440p, but I want something that’ll last a while and look great doing it. I also do some light music and video editing.

Any advice is appreciated!

Hey guys, I'm coming from an RTX 2060 that has served me when until now. I have a $1000 USD (more or less) budget to buy a new card.

I'm really struggling to decide. The 5080 fits into my budget only at MSRP though. The 5070 ti looks tempting but seeing it's comparisons and the fact its scalper price is basically the price of a 5080, I would feel terrible if couldn't just find a 5080 at or around MSRP.

I also had a 4080 super in mind, but still unsure.

And lastly, if I could get my hands on a 7900XTX I'd also be interested.

Upgrading from an RTX 2060 feels good knowing everything will be good but what is the best I can get for my budget/

Before all, it's my third pc. In the first one I chose a low end gpu for a decent cpu, in the second one everything was fine but someone pointed at me that my cooler wasnt enough for my cpu, so now I want to make the things right.

All said, this is the setup, cpu, debating between the 7800X3D, the 9600X and the 7600X, since I only want the pc for gaming (not shooters tho) at 2K with my 4070 super. So, do your thing experts and help me pls

https://www.pccomponentes.com/configurador/96606bD61

or if u want just the picture (idk if the site applies some changes in price and things depending on the country u're from so this way I'm sure u're seeing the same than I):

Configurador PC | Tu PC por piezas en ► PcComponentes y 4 páginas más - Personal: Microsoft Edge

The thing about debating between those 3 cpu's is that I dont really know the difference, because in some videos I see the 3 of them working relatively similar, but in others I see them gaining 40fps more (in 1080p tho) so I'm note really sure if there's any difference, if it's worth the ~230-270euro extra it costs the 3D version compared to the other two

I'm in the process of making my first (gaming) pc. I've done a bit of research and I've talked with my colleague who is more of an expert than me on this topic. He has experience with building his own pc.

I'm using the pc for gaming, streaming and a bit editing. My budget is about €1500 - €2000. Together with my colleague we've assembled the following parts list: Parts list

The thing my colleague was doubting about is the RTX 4070 super or a video card like the sapphirepulse 7900 XT.

Are there any changes that you guys would make? Are there other things I should look out for/change?

I've recently finished rebuilding my PC, swapped out everything aside from the case, motherboard, and power supply. The computer has successfully posted and I've been able to set up my os and all that. However, sometimes when I press the power button nothing happens, no lights, no fans, nothing. I'll unplug it check the fpanel connector making sure it's plugged all the way in. Then I will plug the PC back in, try and turn it, which it will but I'll get a red dram light on the motherboard. As far as I understand this indicates a part isn't hooked up correctly (mobo is something like b650 elite eagle ax). So I'll turn the PC off and then back on but this time it will boot up just fine. This process has happened a couple times now.

Most recently I noticed the light on the power button on my case was flashing weirdly (like surging with brightness suddenly instead of a soft rise and fall) in a way it didn't with the old setup. So, I suspected it was an issue with the power button's connection to the case. I unplugged the fpanel connector from the motherboard, then plugged pack in p+, p-, and pwr (didn't bother with hd led as I couldnt get it in without having to take out the GPU which I didn't want to do) and then it did the turn on with dram light before being turned off and then turning on normally thing. The power button was no longer flashing weirdly so I assumed I had fixed my problem. This morning when I went to turn on my computer however I'm back at square one with nothing happening when I press the power button. For what it's worthz I was able to turn off my PC last night using the power button, the os recognized it was being pressed just fine and brought up the power options menu (mint os).

Can anyone help me identify what's going wrong? I really don't want it to be the motherboard because I would hate to have to build this whole thing over again. However for context, I did use a bit too much thermal paste on the cpu when first installing it. Some thermal paste got on the motherboard pins which I then cleaned off with a paintbrush and 90% isopropyl alcohol, that seemed to work fine other than the fact those pins look a little discolored now... But Im pretty sure a motherboard can turn on even if the CPU isnt being read properly. The CPU from that incident was replaced with a new one so the CPU should be fine. I am much more ready to buy a replacement power switch if that's the issue but I'm a little sick of spending money rn so id like some second opinions before making any more purchases. I'm happy to answer any additional questions anyone has. I'm sorry this was a long read but thank you so much if you decide to help!

I have a PC with the following specs:

CPU: Ryzen 7 9700x w/ Arctic Liquid Freezer 3 240 GPU: RX 7800 XT Storage: WD 1 TB NVME + Samsung 990 Pro 2 TB NVME PSU: 750W not entirely sure what brand, came with the prebuilt. Mobo: ASRock B650M-C 2 intake fans that are I'm pretty sure 80mm. AIO rad is the exhaust out the top.

I was honestly just curious if there were any other minor upgrades I could do to further future proof the PC? GPU upgrades aside mostly due to the current market being almost impossible to obtain them.
