I found an I5 13600k for 170$, the I7 is 270$. Which one should I get? I only play on 1440p and dont run heavy applications like 3d and rendering.

Hi guys,

I ordered the following spec from PC Specialist around 2 years ago and in all honesty its been a very good setup for my needs. The only issue is the fans sound like they are always running louder than when I first got the computer - currently the CPU temp is 36c but the fans sound like they are running full bore even though I set them to silent in Armoury Crate. I am not too clued up on computers so the little I know is self taught from reading info online!

I have the impression my CPU cooler and case fans are bulk standard and wondered if upgrading these, would mean I hear less noise from the fans (this is ultimately my issue) - I want a quieter setup!

Gaming wise its been fine up until more recent releases like Indiana Jones and Avowed where the game can lag, fans do overtime and sometimes crash - other games seem to run ok so unsure if this issue is just related to the games as opposed to my PC. Anyway here is my spec and welcome any suggestions:

I just built a new system, with a B760M-H motherboard that supports NVMe drives, I bought a WD green 250gb SSD, that apparently should have 2000MB/s speeds, but I've been noticing really choppy performance in just windows, and when I ran a benchmark I'm getting like 90MB/s in read and 70 in write

I have the 9070xt in hand. I didn't think any of this through. My goal was to get a GPU that wasn't scalped to high hell. I realize that I haven't paid attention to this space in a while and my information is outdated.

In my previous build experience the amd CPU stratification was very simple. Ryzen 3 <- basically for Chromebook. Avoid at all cost. Ryzen 5 <- good mid range and won't bottle neck your system while GPU is churning our frames Ryzen 7 <- you just wanna flex or you're a tech guru doing cool shit on the side.

It seems things have gotten a bit more complicated lately. I've looked for build examples on YouTube, but every video I see is using a ryzen 9 thousand x3d chip. The chips are like $400+!!!!

Are these guys just flexing, or is that the caliber of cpu i need to avoid bottlenecks in my GPU?

I'd appriciate any quality "ryzen breakdown for dummies" breakdown video/article.

I recently changed from my GTX 970 to GTX 1070 and have problem. When i changed GPU everything start and work fine. Later after restart, BIOS started but system wont pop out. Black screen with loading circle on cursor. When i switch back to previoua GPU all works, then i switched again to new GPU and starts like it should. But then after restart, again BIOS start but again black screen with loading on cursor. Looks like it starts only when i swaps GPU everytime? Help me please

Going from am4 to am5 will this be good for future proofing and such. Can't find 4080 or anything im after so would a gtx gigabyte 1660 ti still work? (Most have specials and bundles to save money) https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/2GyCMC

Hello everyone. I'm considering upgrading my build. Currently, I have a Gigabyte B450M DS3H motherboard, a Ryzen 7 5700X3D processor, 32GB of 3200MHz RAM, and an XFX 7800XT graphics card. I plan to purchase a 9070XT in the near future. Will the graphics card be too limited? I do not plan to switch to AM5.

I managed to get into the BIOS a few times but it has been inconsistent. I tried to plug in my flash drive to install windows and nothing happens except a blank screen. Monitor and cables are new, all parts are new, so I’m not sure why it’s not letting me proceed. The fans turn on, there’s a blinking light on my SSD, there’s a solid red light on my motherboard (AORUS B650 Elite AX), there’s a light coming from the bottom of my GPU (4080 Super Ventus 3x), and I checked the cables on both the motherboard and PSU multiple times. I’ve also switched around my RAM to no avail.

At this point, I’m not sure what the issue is and I’d prefer not to take it to a repair store and pay them $100-200+ if it’s something simple that I’m missing. I’ve looked at tutorials and they all just say restart (tried that), remove CMOS battery (tried that), & check cables.

If this helps, CPU : 7800x3d Case : 4000D Airflow

Basically the title - Pc was working fine, then I went to restart it. When it rebooted, there was no display.

I can still enter bios during startup, where it detects that something is slotted in the PCIe slot, but it is not detected in system information. Any ideas on what to do would be appreciated!

Got my RX 9070 XT on amazing for about 750$. Was able to get lucky and get it before it sold out. Upgraded from a 3070 and the performance increase is amazing. Gaming is even better. Virtual reality became even better now that Im able to run stable 90-120 fps plus amazing graphics. (Using Quest 3) Im absolutely loving this new card. I got the XFX White edition.

I was using a Rx 6800 on Indian Jones 4k with medium Ray tracing high settings using FSR. No issues, crashes etc ( Running above 60 to 80 fps ). I found an open box Rtx 4070 super today for a good price and thought it might be a nice step up . Boy was I fucking wrong, 4k .. kind of fine with lower settings because of Vram no biggie. Well I go medium settings, dlss balanced, Ray tracing to lowest setting and it crashes everytime with error Vram Allocation lmao. Wtf, without Ray tracing it's fine, but damn I really proved myself wrong big time. Minium should be 16gb, I'm on the band wagon. I told multiple friends and even on Reddit that it's horseshit.. but it's not at all. Granted without Ray tracing it's fine, but I still can't crank the settings at all without issues. My Rx 6800, high settings lowest Ray tracing not a damn issue. Rant over, I'm going to stick with team red and get a open box 6950xt refrence for 400 tomorrow and take this back.

So I got lucky and bought an RX 9070 XT. Tested it out, flatscreen gaming is amazing and performance is absolutely great. Switched over to test VR, and can say that the performance increase significantly as well as graphics (upgrading from 3070) But I can't help but notice that when using the RX 9070 XT For Virtual Reality, there are like static lines that appear on the screen like as If I was gaming on an old television. It was never there on my 3070 so I'm thinking its an AMD drivers issue? On some Virtual Reality games its not as bad but on others its more severe. Is anyone else experiencing this???

like the title says, is there a KVM switch that act like the "input switch" function on monitors other than the "disconnect" action?

I use my home PC and work laptop with 2 monitors, I use 1 of the monitor with the laptop, and everytime I click the KVM switch, it messes up the windows/folder placement on my PC.

As I understand most of the KVM switch on the market works as "disconnect HDMI 1, connect HDMI 2" which always mess up the desktop placement, and the toggle switch on the monitor works as "display HDMI 2 on monitor" which works for my usecase.

Use the default toggle switch on the back/buttom of the monitor works but it gets annoying after doing this a few times.

Dont know if there is any software solution for this, seems to me there are 2 workaround:

  1. A monitor with a external "input switch" where I can place the control next to the keyboard/mouse, I only know some BenQ PD monitors with this function by using the "hot key puck 2" controller, but they are expensive pro monitors with seems unnecessary
  2. A KVM switch that act like a default input switch rather than "dissconnect & connect"

So does such device exist? or are there any other monitors that can do this "one click switch" action?

Thx

Hey! Yeah, title + a quick recap: I upgraded my entire PC, going from 12600k + 2060 super + 16gb 3200mhz to 14900k + 4070 ti super + 64gb 3200mhz.

The only things left from the old pc are two m2 drives, an HDD drive and a SATA SSD. My motherboard is the z690 a pro ddr4 wifi.

I installed this in two different batches, since I bought GPU, PSU and RAM separately and then CPU + AIO (ROG RYUO III) afterwards. In the meantime, I was using my 12600k with the 4070 ti super and I thought it was getting CPU bottlenecked since I started to see some stutters back then. It turns out that changing the CPU made this issue even worse somehow.

Basically I'm getting very short and weird frametime spikes or very bad 0.1% lows in essentially every game I play. The most affected games seem to be CS:GO, Little Nightmares 2 and Cyberpunk. In those games, I can easily recreate the issue by using CapFrameX just for 120s and then watch the frametime graphs over there. It's even happening in League of Legends which is extremely bad for me since my job is related to the game. The frametime spikes range from 10ms spikes all the way to 50ms spikes. They usually happen once a minute or so. There are some games which are better than others. League for example is quite good but still not perfect.

Even though this issue is very noticeable for me, I do wonder sometimes if I'm being too picky. I'll can leave an image with the frametime spikes if you guys want to judge for yourselves, but yeah, it's very frustrating to spend this kind of money on a PC just to have this sort of experience with it.

That being said, I have tried absolutely everything I could find online:

-Updated BIOS: First thing I did when I received the CPU. I did it with MSI center though, but I've confirmed that it is the last version so it should be fine. Intel Stock settings. I haven't tried going past the limits with that because it may void warranty from what I know.

-MPO, HAGS, MSI mode, Game Mode, Game Bar, etc: I tried basically every single software related option that I encountered through reddit posts and other online forums.

-RGB programs and static effects: I deinstalled SignalRGB which was causing constant stuttering. I installed Asus's Armoury Crate to disable the GPU rgb lighting effect, I tried deinstalling it too

-Hardware tuning: I undervolted my 14900k with LLC3, lite load 3 and 0.07 core offset. (Bullzoid video tutorial, I don't have experience on these kind of things

-Hardware swapping: I used my old PC to try out each component individually, it didn't seem to fix the issue at all. I swapped out GPU, RAM and CPU. The only thing I didn't change was my PSU

-Hardware testing: I used Intel XTU to stress test the 14900k.

-Monitoring software: I tried capping with RTSS, with NVCP. I also tested completely erasing every monitoring software I had.

-G-sync, V-sync: My vx2458-mhd monitor only supports Freesync, so I don't even have the option to enable G-sync from NVCP. V-sync doesn't seem to make any change at all

-In-game graphic settings: no effect at all. The AVG Fps vary, but the 0.1% lows / spikes are basically the same

-XMP: I tried on, off and adjusting memory timings although I don't have experience on this.

-Windows 10/11: I tried with 4 different installs. I tried installing win 10 and then upgrading it to the max. When I noticed stutters, I upgraded to win 11. After that, I reinstalled to a clean Win 11 install. Then I also tried replacing my m2 ssd for a sata ssd, and installing windows there, with no other disk connected.

-Temperature, clocks, power and usage: I checked the graphs from MSI afterburner and I found nothing weird about them, although I do not have a lot of experience troubleshooting like this. The only weird thing I saw was that the clocks tend to go up and down a lot. I tried using high performance modes + disabling C-states + disabling speedshift.

-Interrupt related: I disconnected every JUSB from my case, also the matrix RGB usb from ROG RYUO III.

I also ran this command which I found in a forum (not sure what it does but it did not help):

reg add "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\kernel" /v "InterruptSteeringDisabled" /t REG_DWORD /d "1" /f

-SMT, ECORES: I tried disabling hyperthreading, E-cores.

My guesses so far:

-Something related to my motherboard and I didn't notice it until I changed my GPU for some reason (maybe I wasn't looking at 1% lows)

-Maybe this CPU needs faster ram? I'm thinking of buying some fast ddr4 or a new motherboard with ddr5, although I would love to keep that money for IRL things ;(

-PSU related issue? My voltages seem fine on Hwinfo though.

-CPU issue. I have the possibility to RMA it but I'm not sure if it will get accepted because of the nature of the issue.

Either way, I'm fucking desperate to solve this and finally get to enjoy my PC.

PLEASE HELPPPPPPP

I've been running the same system since 2018 a Ryzen 5 2600, GTX 1070, 16GB RAM... and it’s starting to show its age. Originally, I was just going to do a simple GPU upgrade, but thanks to a recent (and unexpected) financial boost, I now have around $3,500 to drop on a proper build.

My plan so far:

  • CPU: Ryzen 7 7800X3D (seems like the best value for gaming)

  • GPU: RTX 4090 (overkill for 1440p, but I want to future-proof and dabble in 4K)

  • MOBO: ASUS X670E-Plus WiFi

  • RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000MHz

  • Storage: 2TB Samsung 990 Pro + 4TB Crucial P3 Plus

  • Cooling: Corsair H150i Elite LCD AIO

  • PSU: Corsair RM1000e

  • Case: Lian Li O11 Dynamic EVO

Now, I know a 4090 is absolute overkill for 1440p, but I’ve always wanted to own a top-tier GPU at least once in my life. That said, I could also go with a 4080 Super and save myself $600. But since I have the money now (let’s just say luck was finally on my side for once), should I just go all out?

Another concern: Is my PSU choice solid, or should I go with a 1200W for better overhead? I also keep second-guessing the AIO vs. a high-end air cooler like the NH-D15. Would love some second opinions before I start ordering parts.

Currently rocking a Ryzen 5 3600 and RTX 3070, and looking to get some more out of my setup at 1440p. I stupidly bought new ram at DDR4 a few months back because I wasn’t thinking about the rest of my build, so trying to continue on AM4 for a few more years at least hopefully.

I see a ton of old threads about 5800x3Ds and 5700x3Ds at like ~$150, but now the absolute bare minimum I can see is $250 on Aliexpress. I guess production has stopped and supplies are drying out, because it’s looking dire. Do I just hold out as long as possible for a brand new build on AM5 in a few years, or is there another AM4 option I’m missing?

I'm trying to build a new computer

i'm just confused on what mobo to buy due to the issue with usb 4 getting 4 lanes as i wanted to use 3 m.2 ssds

So i'm following this b850 pcie connection guide but when i looked up the chipset for the x16 pcie for b850 it only says pcie 4.0 where motherboard specs says it's pcie 5.0

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c4CKXKlHm8c

https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/B850-AORUS-ELITE-WIFI7-rev-10/sp#sp

So should i go with x870 and have the x8 issue when i use all my m.2 drives as I'm planning to buy an rtx 5000 series gpu which is pcie 5.0

or b850 which is pcie 4.0?

I recently purchased the RX 9070 XT for Monster Hunter Wilds to get solid 60 FPS on Ultra settings in 1080p with FSR and Frame Gen off but am only getting around 30-40 FPS with stuttering.

My Specs are:

GPU: Gigabyte AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5700x3d Motherboard: Msi b450 TOMAHAWK II MAX 1x 16 gb Ram 3000MHz 850w PSU

I already tried to reinstall my GPU driver with DDU multiple times with no results.

So I managed to buy the 5070 for msrp of £539. I was planning on cancelling the 5070 once I secured the 9070XT for £569 but I couldn't :(. Now the same model is going for £630. I am no longer sure if its worth spending the extra money to get the 9070XT over the 5070. I plan on playing at 1440p so the 12GB vram should be too bad I guess? If it does get bad in later years, can I not just sell the gpu since NVIDIA cards hold value? Here is my build idea https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/TfzxVF Please let me know if there is something wrong with it or something I could improve on. Thank you.

Yo, so my situation is, 2 months back my beautiful perfect Evga GTX 1070 Ti died (TLDR: I was watching YouTube and bam, black screens and a weird burning smell, I don't want to try to fix it :D) and I'm still waiting to buy a new GPU but the situation is insane with the market. I thought it would get better if I wait buuuuut :D

Basically, I can survive on only 7700X integrated graphics (as I did till today) but I feel like it puts a strain on the CPU (more heat etc.) and I waited enough BUT I still can wait... But also I don't want to, I can't play more than half of the games I played before, can't edit in Davinci and Modelling in Fusion is not ideal.

So I just don't know if to buy rn an overpriced GPU, or to wait if it gets better? :D

I was lookin at the 9070XT or 9070, they don't look bad, but the prices in EU are well, interesting. 50 series is too expensive and If I would go for something, I would like atleast a 5070 Ti, I don't like the idea of second hand but I could look into that and other Nvidia cards from 40 series arent stock in my country (CZ, only 4060 and 4060 Ti are in stock).

I would like any advice, for my situation, for the GPU stock or anything that would help, ideas, opinions,

my budget is about 20000 CZK (800 EUR, 865 USD). Thanks for anything.

Building a new PC and have been going back and forth between these two options. I am looking for some additional insight from good ole Reddit to add to the YouTube vids I've watched.

I've always been an Intel fan but like the idea of possibly getting additional performance from the 9800X3D.

I will mostly use it to game at 1440p and maybe one day 4k and it seems the diffrence may not be as huge. On the other side (Intel) I like to have those additional cores for productivity despite the fact that I mainly game.

In terms of GPU I will be getting a 5070TI or 5080.

I like the idea of AM5 being supported for the next few years atleast.

From my understanding the issues with the 14900k have been resolved via updates. I am hearing the AMD chips may cause problems with stuttering. This makes me want to go Intel.

I've got things I like about both sides. Would really love some additional points to help me decide one or the other.

If I remove my old DDR3 Motherboard, and replace with a new DDR4 one, (Including the RAMs of course) and the Intel CPU to a new one from AMD, while keeping the same Nvidia GPU, same HDD, SSD and stuff, will my PC turn on and work just fine?
