Hi I am new to curve optimizer and PBO. Upgraded my CPU to 9950x3d and set to -25 CC0 and -15 CC1. Everything was fine for a week until I got a black screen, not during gaming. I checked event viewer after a manual restart and it showed nvlddmkm errors with event 153.

Can an unstable curve optimizer cause this?

I have lowered to -20 CCD0 and -10 CCD1 to see if it happens again. I ran aida64 for an hour and no problems.

Thanks all!

i got a nice gift 10900kf, im not interested in newer generation, i want a good mobo for ram oc, preferably for dual rank memory, i have z390 master and i can run 4x8 4300, thats ok but i want more, what mobo should i get for 4400 ram and upwards, there is also a dual dimm slots like apex, unify x, that should have better integrity with mem oc, the issues become with dual rank like 2x16 which struggles above 4000,

asus z490/590 apex/hero

msi z490/590 ace/unify

z590 apex unify x

i am in dilemma of the mobos.

So I have overclocked many CPU's and always done it through the bios. I like that I do it once and never worry about it again. With videocards though it seems to always be software based. Does this still just always OC without thinking about it anymore? Do you always need to adjust settings?

I ran a Cinebench test in R23 Version

  • Multi-Core: 31974 pts
  • Single-Core: 2,098 pts
  • Multicore Ratio (MP): 15.24 x
  • Max Wattage: ~100-115 W
  • Max Temp: ~84-85 Degrees Celsius

For some context, this was my score before I overclocked then after I did a -30 curve optimizer on all cores and +400 MHz CPU boost clock and got around 2-3 thousand more points for each score I dont know if this is good or not would love to know Thx

So I need help either understanding the limits of curve optimizer or how to do it properly on Asus BIOS or both.

I have a 9800X3D and the X870-A Motherboard. I can run 5.3GHz at a fixed Core voltage of 1.2 just fine. When doing this, OCCT reports the CPU as drawing 113W and the CPU temp levels at around 72C.

I am trying to replicate this removing the fixed voltage (and CPU multiplier), instead trying it via the curve optimizer, and I cannot seem to do it. I first tried doing an all cores offset of -20 in the curve optimizer, and it wound up drawing 130W per OCCT, the heat levels were much higher than the fixed core voltage approach, and it didn't boost above 5.1GHz.

Any idea what I could possibly be doing wrong? I am 100% new to this, so I know my understanding is probably way off on something. It also doesn't help that there are two PBO submenus in the BIOS (I was using the non-Ai Tweaker one).

So i have a 9800x3d running 6000mhz 2000FCLK.

I also use a soundblaster AE-7.

I keep reading that audio should not stutter during stress testing otherwise it indicates unstable FCLK.

I tried prime small FFT and was fine, then read "you should use blender".

I tried blender and it started off okay and then stuttered like mad + pc was being overloaded, took a few seconds before i could stop the blend test.

Is this indicating 2000FCLK is unstable?

Prime Blend uses all the resources of the pc, so i imagine the audio is expected to stutter from that... but some posts say otherwise.

edit:

Also tested Prime blender + youtube audio on a different pc, a 7600x pc with integrated graphics, no dedicated GPU + a soundblaster pcie card, same audio glitches.

Is the recommendation for Prime blend + audio testing just wrong?

Hello,am new to the world of pc as i've been saving up for a pc and something caught my eye it's the undervolting option on my gpu i have an rx 6700 xt and I did I (lowered the power consumption to -6 and decreased the MV to 1115 mv) my question is, is it safe what i did with power an mv or will cause some crashes?

Latest msi afterburner build, latest nvidia drivers, rtx 5080 FE with +475 core clock and +3000 Mhz memory frequency, +100mV votlage and 108% power limit. , All good until gpu utilization is not 95-99%, where the gpu voltage increases past 1.050 mV for a second and obviously gpu core frequencies rise to over 3.3 ghz and things sometime crash. Under full load, gpu hovers at 3.250 mhz core at 1.035/1.040 mV and is stable. As soon as i go to desktop or the game/application shows a lighter scene and i achieve my 165 fps frame rate cap, things go banana. I tried setting the msi afterburner voltage/frequency curve to flatten out at 3225 mhz core clock at 1.040 mV but as soon as i flatten the curve, the gpu doesn't even reach the points of the curve i modified. I know that core clock/voltage is stable but the card doesn't even bother to reach those. The only way i have to reach those frequencies again while flattening the curve is to move up the flattened part to like 3.4 ghz core clock.. Things i obviously don't want to do for stability purposes. Did anyone encounter the same bug? My previous 4070 super did not exhibit this issue. It correctly followed the v/f curve set.

hello. does anyone know why am i having such an low cinebench score in single core test and it’s always different. sometimes i’m getting around 1500-1700, sometimes even 800, but in multicore tests everything just works fine, i’m not getting less than 32000. pl1 and pl2 are 4095 in hwinfo, so it’s unlimited i don’t know what is the problem, so help me please.

Hi,

I have some questions about the upgrade from my 3700x to a 5700x3d on my b450f strix v1 - I know a bios upgrade will allow me to boot off my 3700x so I can put the 5700x3d in when it arrives but I wanted to check if anyone else has been through this process with the same hardware config or similar (same mobo different cpus).

Also I quite enjoyed overclocking my ram on my 3700x, curious what it's like overclocking ram on x3d chips? Is it a pointless effort trying to get it stable? Does it have a decent performance impact given the huge l3 cache?

I want to overclock my 12600k because it limits my 5070ti in some games that are more cpu heavy. I have an asus z690-p d4 wifi mobo. RAM is 3600Mhz CL 18 (18-22-22-42). For current context the cpu is currently undervolted by -0.045. It runs cinebench r23 at around 1.15-1.16v. Peak cpu package power is 120W in cinebench, and around 80W while gaming. Cinebench score 16750-16850ish. P-core clocks stay at 4.5Ghz and E-cores at 3.7Ghz as usual during gaming and cpu intensive tasks. Temps never go above 60c, in cinebench it stays around 55C and during gaming around 45-50C, I have a 360 AIO.

Now I dont wanna be a person with the Pcore overclock at 5.5Ghz with e cores turned off and all that, I simply just want an overclock that doesnt push too much power and does not have my cpu running too hot. Im not that versed in cpu overclocking which is why I want to see what yall recommend I run my cpu at with specific settings if yall also have a 12600k or maybe have done what I want to do.

Thanks a lot to anyone that can help,

I recently picked up a Ryzen 7 9700X and noticed something odd. While running Cinebench, the CPU only hits around 55°C, and performance feels a bit underwhelming. After some digging, I realized it's actually being limited to 65W by default.

I experimented with the Curve Optimizer (set to -25) and bumped the TDP up to 105W, which gave me much better performance in cinebench (from 18k points to 21k or so) though of course, temps went up as well.

Do you think it’s worth keeping the higher power limit for the extra performance, or should I stick with the default 65W for the lower temps and power usage?

There are so many different opinions. What’s the actual correct response? Is it based off of chasing benchmark high scores versus daily use? What’s the consensus here?

Im using the 9800X3D with X870E Taichi and Noctua NH-D15-G2

Just got my 5070 founders. Power limit minimum is 70%. My 2080 could go all the way to 0%.

Any way to lower less than 70?

Hi I have bought a new pc and for the first time with a AMD CPU. I know on the official amd site it says a max of 5.3MHz, But have it overclocked with the Ryzen master program with the auto overclocking option With the settings. Boost overdrive CPU at 200 PPT at 1.000 TDC at 187 EDC at 270 With a curve optimizer at -50 I get a stable 5.5MHz a 63 degrees when running cinebenchR23 And in hwinfo it say the max clock speed is 5.5mhz. And with the PBO option with the same settings I'll get a max of a 5.3MHz. setup is with a MSI b650 motherboard a AIO cooler and Rx 9070 XT.

-Now is there any harm running my CPU at 5.5mhz? -And which method of overclocking is better the Auto Overclock or PBO for gaming? -And if I use the AO do I need te tweak it to the right MHz?

I've been new to this overclocking. I had my previous PC for 7 years with a i5 7gen and a GTX 1060.......

I appreciate all the comments and thanks in advance.
