Did the CPU cooler on a GPU thing just for fun, and got a ton of comments saying it’d never fit inside a case.

So… I flipped a 1060 upside down, strapped a Peerless Assassin to it, and forced it into a mid tower.

It fits. Side panel goes on and everything.

There was absolutely no reason to do this, it dropped temps by nearly 30°C, but performance didn’t really change.

That said, I reckon it might actually help with a higher power card, so I’ll try it again soon with a 2070 and see what happens.

It was near silent compared to the stock cooler.

Here’s the video if you want to see how dumb it got https://youtu.be/Msal89TS7Ms

I'm putting together a PC for a friend. The friend plays lots of games, so naturally a solid GPU is needed. Within the budget, the best value for money seems to be the intel ARC B580 (plus, I think competition in the space is important, so going for the "underdog" option is better imo. Also, "battlemage" is a fucking awesome name).

The issue is, this person probably isn't good enough with technology to fix any significant issues the card might present. My question is, is this card a safe choice at this point, given the improvements to the drivers? I've never used one personally, so I don't know the situation.

For competative pc gaming, for the lowest input lag, which is better of the two?

I have a 600hz zowie monitor that sports HDMI 2.1 or DP 1.4 connectivity. I have an RTX 5090 that can support those connections.

But I am unsure which cable I should be using for maximum performance for fast paced fps? I was told to always go with the higher bandwidth cable because apparently, more bandwidth will result in less input lag. But i have issues here.

I tried HDMI 2.1, and it felt very laggy (input delay) and stuttery ingame. Ontop of that I had issues getting 600hz in NVCP to be available. Max I could see was 240hz. So I used CRU to create a 600hz profile. Which allowed me to chose 600hz in the CP, so in windows I was getting 600hz that way. But ingame, it would automatically limit to 240hz, even though in windows I have 600hz enabled, and on the monitor EDID I have 600Hz selected, but the monitor is reporting 240hz is active. All the above issues is with the monitors included ultra high speed certified HDMI 2.1 cable.

When I use DP 1.4 cable, none of the above issues are present. I am able to select 600hz in NVCP easily without the need of CRU, and the games run at 600hz and the monitor OSD also reports 600hz is active. The game is super responsive and fast with the DP 1.4 connection.

Can anyone help discuss the issue I am having here with HDMI 2.1 v DP 1.4? Thanks.
