Elon Musk says he has “done enough” to help MAGA Republicans win elections, signaling a shift in his kingmaker role as Donald Trump’s top campaign backer.

After months of watching his popularity plummet, the DOGE slasher-in-chief said he plans to cut back on funding political campaigns, a move that could dampen the Republicans’ efforts at next year’s midterm elections and in the lead up to the 2028 presidential election.

“I think, in terms of political spending, I’m going to do a lot less in the future,” Musk said, when asked at the Qatar Economic Forum on Tuesday if he would continue spending as much as he has in the past.

He will fund them through PACs in secret like his peers

Nothing will meaningfully improve until the rich fear for their lives

[–] [email protected] 27 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

In the days of crypto and tax havens, you really think we can track this? He will still donate millions of dollars, he will just close his big mouth and use workarounds, non-profits and shell corporations to donate and obscure the source. This is all PR.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 3 hours ago

It'll all be super PAC donations. Because that's untracked and allows for unlimited donations.

I call Bullshit.

While Elonazi has gained much in contracts/income from the current "government", in the process, the rankings of his various "businesses" has tanked.

Reality is: He'll take some time off, focus on attempting to restore any good will possible for his businesses, then be right back in the political fray shortly before the midterms.

Problem with that plan is he's in no position to regain any so-called "good will" as the Nazi bastard has quite publicly and blatantly revealed much too much about who he actually is.

Fuck. Elonazi.

🤡 🖕

[–] [email protected] 46 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

Bullshit indeed. His assets should be seized, distributed to the poor, and he should suffer the fate of all the Nazis before him.

[–] [email protected] 25 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

He and the rest of the Nazi administration.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

And any remnants of the confederacy. They should also get the unnazification treatment

[–] [email protected] 7 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Slight correction, it's de-nazification. But also, SHERMAN 2 ELECTRIC BOOGALOO LET'S GO BURN DOWN DESANTI'S AND ORANGE FUCKWITS HOUSES!

[–] [email protected] 5 points 5 hours ago

Throw those two taintstains from Texas in there too: Abbot and Paxton

[–] [email protected] 22 points 6 hours ago

Pretty sure Elon and Kanye are on the same path. So Elon will take some time off and then suddenly have another manic episode and repeat everything 2x worse than the last time.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 7 hours ago

This is why he won't be back I think. Maybe shadow or dark money wise sure, but in the public eye? He can't lose his billions, it's all he has.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 5 hours ago

The thing about doing a deal with mobsters is that you don’t get to say when you’re done helping them

Elon‘s gonna find that out.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 7 hours ago* (last edited 7 hours ago)

He’s just going to join the other ultra-wealthy mega-donors and funnel funds through dark money shell companies. He needs those government subsidies and contracts to remain wealthy.

[–] [email protected] 26 points 6 hours ago

See you at Nuremburg, you nazi piece of shit

[–] [email protected] 48 points 7 hours ago (4 children)

He should still be hit in the face with a shovel.

[–] Sixtyforce 4 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

I'm not sure, that might improve his looks if it's just the one hit. Better be sure.

[–] vaultdweller013 1 points 1 hour ago

Nah it's an issue with his skull shape as a whole, phrenology may be bullshit but I suspect it applies to Musk in particular.

[–] [email protected] 23 points 7 hours ago (2 children)

You spelled 500lb boulder wrong...

[–] [email protected] 12 points 7 hours ago

Bullets are much easier to put in a face.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 7 hours ago

Thank you for the correction.

Never believe anything a billionaire says. It's always misdirection.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 5 hours ago

Exactly, don't listen to what liars say .... instead watch what they do

[–] [email protected] 9 points 6 hours ago (3 children)

I think he just knows the midterms are going to be a massacre for Republicans no matter how much money they throw at it, so he's going to sit it out to retain the aura of being a kingmaker. It's the same thing Rupert Murdoch does, when Liberals/Conservatives/Republicans have no chance of winning in the next election, he'll suck up to Labour/Labor/Democrats and get concessions from them in exchange for support and to keep the illusion in place that his media empire can make anyone win elections.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 hour ago

the midterms are going to be a massacre for Republicans no matter how much money they throw at it,

I don't think that assumption will age well

[–] [email protected] 25 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

the midterms are going to be a massacre for Republicans

Democrats are going to walk into 2026 saying "Everyone hates Republicans, ergo we can't possibly lose" and run some of the most heinous, criminally incompetent campaigns to date.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

No doubt, but there's no way they don't take at least the house back even by doing nothing. At least for midterms candidates can tailor their message more to what people in the district want to hear, instead of having to run on 'I'll be exactly like Joe Biden but black'.

Famous Last Words

[–] [email protected] 2 points 5 hours ago

I wonder how big a carnage the Republicans will have in the midterm elections.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 7 hours ago

I don't believe a word that worthless cunt says.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

"Kiss my ass, or no more money."

[–] [email protected] 4 points 6 hours ago

This is very much it. His public statement is a message to those who want his money.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Oh, he will come sniveling back to bend the knee.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 6 hours ago

He's not going anywhere. He already bought his influence. Now he has more leverage over Republicans in advance of the 2026 elections.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 8 hours ago (2 children)

Daddy Drumpf is squeezing him out, so he'll dry up the cash

They're both filth

[–] [email protected] 6 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

Open season at this point. If they got killed tomorrow, who the fuck would actually care? There would be so much in fighting and rats jumping ship, by the time things are over you'd probably end up in Congress

[–] [email protected] 3 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

Me, I’d celebrate the day.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

on the day that Putin, Trump, or Elon dies, the global wine industry will see a spike in sales so sharp you'll be easily able to find it on historical graphs for the next century. I personally have a bottle earmarked for each of them.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 5 hours ago

1000%. I'll be so fucking drunk on homebrew lmfao.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 6 hours ago

Daddy Drumpf is squeezing him out

Haven't seen an iota of evidence to this effect. Let me know when the military stops subsidizing SpaceX and Starlink.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

I used to be a fan of Elon and what he was doing with his companies. Then he revealed his true self for all the world to see. Now he's an ambulate potato, the lesser henchman of a skinless cantaloupe lizard.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Like Trump, Musk revealed his personality early on. In the 1990s when Trump was losing his father’s money in casinos, Musk was making his money by using his father’s money to buy profitable dotcom startups and claiming them as his own. Then he sold them before the market crashed.

SpaceX has been kind of a blip in all this; all his other companies are very much run in the traditional Musk style though, with him taking credit where luck and other people’s hard work are responsible.

[–] PrincessLeiasCat 2 points 2 hours ago

I’m so glad that people know this. The hero worship for so many years was nauseating if you knew the tiny details.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 4 hours ago

Don't need to fund elections if you are planning on finding a way to keep them from happening.
