I can totally see how this would be super annoying, but holy hell that is a hilarious bug. I'm glad I never saw this get abused before.
Oof, they really nerfed the crap out of the eruptor. It feels bad to use now.
Per the Helldiver's Discord, the Eruptor is not working as intended. Hopefully they will unshittify it soon.

Man Twinbeard phrases things fairly well and seems to be posting everywhere at once. He might not be the best CM I've ever seen but he's up there.
Yup, feels like a big nerf.
It used to oneshot nursing spewers with a body shot for example, now takes two. It also used to oneshot brood commanders with a head shot, albeit inconsistently. And it was decent at clearing clumps of small ennemies. Oh well, such is the way of things with balance patches.
I'm be honest, this constant overcorrection on weapons is really making me not want to purchase the next war bond at all.
I'm actually in the opposite boat, the current leaks paint the weapons in a mediocre light, and the armors are uninspired. However they've shown that they have no qualms about buffing up previously useless weapons, like the blitzer, fire breaker, and scythe, so that gives me a reason to consider the war bond.
Wow people complain a whole lot about things like that. The gun was way overpowered. You could even close bug holes with a primary weapon but people still cry. There shouldn't be a loadout that can do everything perfectly all the time, and with the eruptor you definitely could
How big of an impact did that shrapnel have?
Other than occasionally killing the shooter, not much.
Honestly, the shrapnel was great for add-clear because of its huge splash radius, which made it great at keeping your teammates safe during enemy reinforcement events from a safe distance. It was much more useful at cleaning up small enemies than it is currently at medium enemies, and doesn't really handle either one that effectively anymore. I feel like it doesn't really feel like an appropriate pick for any role right now.
Still good for dealing with nests and fabricators from afar, but we're starting to get a lot more options for this lately, as well.
I think like the railgun, the eruptor was just too strong for its own good, at a conceptual level. I mean, "sniper rifle/grenade launcher that you spawn in with for free" is kinda OP.
I still like playing at range, though, so I might give the marksman rifles another try now that the sights are fixed.
Yeah I take it back. Watched someone play with it and it's still half decent at wave clear, but it took 4 shots to kill spewers and that's actually garbage.
I think that may not be accounting for the recent undocumented buff to spewers. They take a lot more shots then they used to from any weapon I've tried in the last week.
Maybe, but having a 5 shot magazine on an explosive gun and spending 4 rounds and several seconds to kill what is a very common enemy on higher difficulties is bad feels. Especially because they still seem to die just fine to a single impact grenade.
I totally agree with you that it doesn't feel good. I've just noticed a trend with the game that every time they patch five items in the game, there are at least 2 unintended or at least unmentioned changes to other things. It probably has to do with the game being built on an obsolete engine Autodesk stopped selling in 2018, that's being pushed well beyond what it was designed for.
You are using the wrong gun on the wrong enemy and that is somehow the games problem?
What is the eruptor's niche, then?
They increased the damage to compensate for the lack of shrapnel, and now you won't die to your own gun as often.

I misunderstood the entry in the changelogand got excited for nothing.

I can understand not joining recents for the sake of not having to deal with someone maybe you didn't really want to keep playing with and not having to boot. I've been on a few squads where I wasn't particularly mad at someone enough to boot or something, but it's nice to just "Return to ship alone" and start fresh, and you don't have to be a dick. Every now and then you get great squads where your playing styles compliment each other, other times you get people that run off on their own and call in all the resupplys and continuously die.
However, if the game had a way to detect if you disconnected mid game due to network or game issues and not a kick from the host then maybe it could give you a notification like a game invite to rejoin.
