The traditional 2A guys are on the side of the tyrants. It was never about resisting tyranny, never about freedom. It was a combination of "I like guns, fuck off," fear of the world around them, and fantasizing about violence against liberals. The government they want to violently resist is the kind that's forcing them to surrender their home to immigrants or trying to make their kids gay. They daydreamed about shooting rainbow-haired liberals trying to flounce in and steal their guns, not police and national guard following orders. Tyrants sending immigrants to concentration camps and making "the gays" legal targets for persecution are exactly what those traditional 2A twats want.

It's why leftists and LGBTQ+ arming themselves is so important. We cannot count on the 2A Old Guard to protect us, their rhetoric about resisting tyranny and keeping the government in check was a lie. Given the chance they'd gladly join the MAGAstappo instead of lifting a finger to protect actual freedom.

One of my primary takeaways from the BLM protests was The efficacy of open carry protest at Stone Mountain in Georgia.

In LA protesters are getting the shit beat out of them. In New York protesters get the shit beat out of them. But as soon as there's 200 protesters with AR-15s suddenly it's "can't we all just get along"... Suddenly the cops are cool headed, rational, and preventing escalation at all costs.

It really sucks to say this, but the 2A people spent decades telling us we were throwing away a fundamentally important right that could protect us from tyranny. Lots of people scoffed at them and explained you can't stand up to the government. Too many of us have forgotten that gun control was started in California under Governor Ronald Reagan to prevent the Black Panthers from armed protest.

The 2A people are still poised to protect themselves and their interests from government abuse, they're just not going to protect YOU from tyranny. You have to do that bit yourself.

Said for years that an armed citizenry is a deterrent, not an army.

And just lookee here! The fascists are going after people in the places with the strictest gun laws.

The 2A people ~~joined~~ aligned themselves with the new government perpetuating the abuse. They’re against the parts of the constitution that include rights for people they disagree with. They aren’t interested in protecting anyone, their interests are in supporting the oppression.

Yeah, the 2nd Amendment was intended to prevent exactly this, but the authors of the constitution placed far too much faith in decent and intelligent people running the government. They never foresaw the intent of the rules being corrupted and those tasked with defending the constitution instead deciding to dismantle it.

E: removed “joined” to avoid semantic debate. It is a self reinforcing loop. The political sphere courted the extremes, the extremes voted in more fringe politicians, those politicians supported the extremists. White extremism is part of the government. White extremism exploits the Second Amendment to use it as implied threat of violence to perpetuate their extremism.

I'm not sure what you mean by "joined" the government. I'm sure many are politically or ideologically aligned a lot of the current adminstration's actions but aren't actively participating in any acts of opression. I'm sure there are many people working in government that are "2A people", and many more who would like to disarm the populate completely.

And you're flat out wrong about them not being interested in protecting anyone. They are very interested in protecting themselves. That just doesn't necessarily include the rest of us.

When they thought COVID lockdowns were a threat to their personal freedoms, they picked up their AR-15s and stormed on the statehouse in Michigan. And again... The police were disciplined, restrained, and de-escalatory in the face of an armed protest.

I don't know why you think the founders couldn't imagine abusing power in violation of the constitution. The same man who wrote "all men are created equal" said of slavery “we have the wolf by the ear, and we can neither hold him, nor safely let him go. Justice is in one scale, and self-preservation in the other.” They clearly documented their knowledge that their actions were unjust but opted for political expedience.

Not all of us "2A people" support or tolerate fascism.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 hours ago

in this picture, you're pointing directly at them.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 hours ago

Wasn't the NRA's biggest claim for existing was to "resist Tyranny?" We got decades of their bullshit about them being "the last, best hope for freedom" and now, they have fark-all to say about it.

Not one of those gun people, but I still support the 2nd ammendment to some extent (down to ban AR-15s and other "scary-looking" guns simply because they are often used by mall-ninja types who do mass shootings). But I think most responsible gun owners are refusing to give fascists a reason/excuse to accelerate or escalate things (for the record, none of MAGA qualify as "responsible gun owners"). I know things are terrifyingly bad right now, but guns/violence are only going to make the current situation worse faster - at least for now. We do seem to be charging full-speed into a situation where they'll be helpful and useful, which is terrifying. But with as much as it might feel like an "easy fix" to nip things in the bud now, it's more likely to give fascism even more power and fuel for their propaganda.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 hour ago

Correct. The administration would fucking LOVE IT if there were some armed liberal violence they could point to and use as a reason to make even bigger moves.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 6 hours ago

Tyranny is when it affects them

[–] [email protected] 8 points 7 hours ago

In this picture? They're on the left side.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 8 hours ago

They're more concerned about the hypothetical tyranny that is egalitarianism.

[–] [email protected] 87 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

In a shocking turnaround that nobody could have predicted, the 2A crowd are the tyrants! 🤯

There is a very real leftist 2A presence, but I don't see many people supporting someone doming a cop as things stand.

Now if you think armed rebellion is something that is necessary or likely, maybe you should go find one of these groups and get to training, unless just hiding behind memes is easier?

[–] [email protected] -4 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

When somebody says the 2A crowd I think it's pretty unambiguous who they're talking about, it's certainly not anyone on the left.

I won't be physically participating in any resistance because I left the US almost 10 years ago and I'm never going back. But if I can help remotely, even if it's just adding to the chorus of voices begging Americans to wake the fuck up, then I will. What's your excuse for being a keyboard warrior?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 10 hours ago

In this context, the reference is ambivalent to left and right.

"We're right here, but on the tyrants' side!"

There's a podcast about Alex Jones I like to listen to, it's called knowledge fight. They point this dissonance out in almost every episode. It's interesting to hear how Jones deals with it. He seems intent on believing that Trump is every freedom-loving 'muricans dream come true, and not exactly the thing he vowed to fight tooth and nail for decades. Neither was ever true though: he's a grifter.

Hahahaha lmfao. Remember how the majority of them treat the duty to get out and vote to stop an insurrectionist rapist from taking the top office in the land? Not holding my breath mate.

Where are the gangsters that claim they would x cops? All dicks are tucked and America's pussy is showing.

Mainstream or street it's all the same evil. All the same game. Criminal are all equally evil from the bottom to the top.

If I remember my history correctly, the Korean shopkeepers are the real 2A Kings.

Well that's a link I probably shouldn't have clicked

Why? Black powder is fully legal and isn't even a high explosive.

Even high explosives are legal to make and use without a license in the US, just not legal to buy, sell, transfer, store, or transport without a license. There is quite a vibrant and active energetics community online. Just search YouTube and you can find countless videos of people making and using high explosives as a hobby.
