That's fine but, if you don't read the article, don't comment on it like you did. I'm not suggesting that's what you did, but that's clearly what many people here did.

P.s. use 12ft.io and archive.ph to get around pay walls.

If there's a pay wall and you don't use something like 12ft.io or archive.ph to get around it, just don't comment. There's no requirement to comment and those that do so without knowing what the article is actually about are providing commentary on their imaginations.

"Free speech absolutist". I wish he'd trip in the bathroom and make the world a better place.

The biggest failure here is the number of people who obviously didn't read the article. Why comment if you don't know what you're actually commenting about? Is this the writing equivalent to loving the sound of your own voice?

Edit: I can't believe my latest most controversial take is "maybe don't discuss what an article says unless you read it first". Just can't make this shit up.

That's about right for flyingsquid. Seems like a nice bloke but has repeatedly shown he doesn't have the impartiality required to be a moderator.

I would absolutely remove the "Don't" from his vehicle

For every tankie I actually see, there's twenty people like you whining about imaginary tankies. Get a hobby, go outside. There's much more to life than complaining about problems you dreamed up.

Hard agree. I'm not from The States but lived there for a number of years. People there who call themselves left are usually closer to center or center right and seem to engage in extreme pearl clutching when exposed to anything even vaguely left of center.

I think part of the issue is decades of propaganda and government brain washing coupled with a deep seated ignorance of actual leftist politics. They know practically nothing about progressive policies and feel no need to learn as they believe they already know all there is to know.

It seems like a sizable portion of .world users have a thing for making up issues and claiming tankies are the cause of these imaginary issues, then getting together for a circle jerk about how great they are for recognizing these tankie problems.

They're just like the American MAGA idiots - stupid people loudly getting upset about things.

Let's see... Repeatedly buy filtered municipal drinking water sold in an earth fucking plastic bottle, or install a reverse osmosis water system and replace the filters 2-4 times a year?

Clearly a VERY personally threatening article for you. I too am triggered by experts stating facts I don't like. /s

Does Lemmy have a r/conservative leak?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

I can't understand why some Lemmy users feel the need to invent new things the tankies might say or do. It reminds me of American MAGA folk: they take a perceived problem, vastly magnify it by fabricating further falsehoods, then engage in a circle jerk where they all seem to feel superior for identifying this massive problem that they largely imagined up.

I suppose it's a lazy way to get easy engagement, but it's dishonest and gross. Let tankies be accountable for what they actually do, lying about them makes you just as bad.

Edit: I didn't notice at first, but of course it's YeetPics, the alt of PugJesus, one of the .world tankie rabble rousers. Check their post history, they seemingly just can't stop talking about tankies. Maybe it's a kink?
