I think that the lack of a point for the suppression of LGBTQIA+ people is a critical error in the data there. Transgender people were deeply and violently suppressed in Nazi Germany, and very early on.

I'll bear that in mind when posting to [email protected]

😉

I contend that there isn't anyone who doesn't already know this/see this. It's that the people who cheer on Trump know damn well it's happening and literally don't care.

It's not that they're not aware of the rise of fascism, it's that they agree with it. They are the same people who say "Well...the nazis had the trains running on time...etc...etc..."

(Which by the way is a complete falsehood. The so-called expert organisation and planning and detail oriented myth of the nazi state was exactly that...a myth.)

The list above is not something that they didn't realise they were voting for. It's something that they actively voted for.

I take your point, but just today at work I had someone tell me how their family had fled to come to the US due to political violence in the past. I kinda vaguely was like "yeah, it's pretty scary to think about how similar things are looking right now" and his response was, "I'm just counting on the idea that politicians don't do what they say."

Well, we were already deeper into politics than I like to get at work, but I wanted to scream HE'S ALREADY DOING IT! (AND IT WAS ALREADY DONE BEFORE TO YOUR FAMILY!)

I just nodded and smiled as I walked away.

3 already lowkey happened with BLM and then blaming immigration in order to beef up the police and “law and order”. But I have a feeling it’s going to happen again in a second stronger wave.

This is why active physical protests are being discouraged. It's playing into their hand and won't accomplish what we want.

We have to play smarter because even if we are perfectly good and peaceful and somehow right wing jackoffs aren't sneaking in to stir the pot? The media will frame it as a barely contained pot about to boil over.

[–] [email protected] 24 points 1 day ago (1 children)

They will do it whether we protest or not.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 day ago (2 children)

In time, yes. They will manufacture a reason for their crackdowns.

However that does not mean we should hand them that excuse. The longer it takes for them, the more time we have to try getting out of this mess, or at least longer for other countries to see what's going on.

I've seen this movie before.

I am also disabled.

"Longer for other countries to see what's going on" ?

The fuck dude, what exactly are you expecting us to do about it ? You guys elected him (well supposedly, I'm skeptical it was a fair election but anyway).

You seriously want the rest of the world to do a coup and topple your elected head of state ? Even assuming we collectively had the military heft to do so (we don't) many Americans who would otherwise be against him would line up behind him (and rightly so)

YOU guys (USA) collectively created this, you need to find yourselves a solution. We can't fix this for you.

If you look at Hitler's first 3 months you should get a good idea what will work and what the consequences of leaving action too late will be.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 day ago

Yeah, just do nothing and hope other people stop them from getting anything done! Great plan!

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Don't worry, Democrats have already announced a plan: seek to secure the vote of moderate Republicans in the 2026 midterms.

Because it worked so well in 2024, 2020, 2016, 2012, etc.

[–] WoodScientist 6 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Dems will nominate Ted Cruz as their candidate in 2028 to appeal to non-MAGA Republicans. Centrist dems will then demand everyone support him because, in theory, he'll be a little bit better than Trump, who is running for his third term. Remember, as a voter, the only criteria you're allowed to use is whether the Dem candidate is slightly better than the Republican one. If you're a Democrat, it is your moral duty to vote for Ted Cruz in 2028. If you don't, you're morally responsible for anything Trump does in his third term.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

And this is why we need to replace corporate and centrist Dems with actual leftists - there's like 3 in the whole party.

A protest vote in the presidential is ineffectual, but replacing the party with people who will actually do something will lead to them fielding actually competent candidates.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 19 hours ago

There's a new leader at the DNC. I don't know much about him but I truly hope he isn't so corrupt that he can't see what's happening. Biden stayed essentially center right and won. Kamala we've further right and failed. I honestly don't think there will be anything close to fair elections in 2028, so 2026 might be their last stand.

They must learn the lesson that progressive policies have wide support among Americans that aren't fascist. Run progressive candidates who aren't afraid to call Trump and Musk and their administration exactly what they are

Above all, the electorate must understand that this is likely their last chance to put the brakes on Trump, if it's not already impossible by then. This is not the time for purity tests, protest votes, or sitting out the election for any reason.

So we go for the media first 😈

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 day ago

We do have to act. Else it will happen.

Best time to act was forty five years ago in denying regan.

Second best time is now

Number 3 is the one I’m most worried about. There will be riots soon as the populace is close to the breaking point on things and that’s going to be the only excuse they need.

[–] WoodScientist 14 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I see the war on trans people as #3. Even before the rise of the Trump regime, every time there's a school shooter, the right already immediately started spreading lies about the attacker being trans. Now the open persecution has begun. When you try to erase a group from the law, target their basic ID documents, their healthcare, their very existence? The Trump regime has declared war on the trans population.

You can only push people so far before some of them start building bombs. You can only take so many innocent lives before the reprisal killings start. And I think that's the goal here, beyond just outright bigotry. Spread lies about a group being prone to acts of violence. Start persecuting that group using every lever of power available. When some members of that group inevitably respond with violence, the broader populace will already be primed to accept that the group is prone to irrational violence. You can then use that as justification for even more draconian acts of repression.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 day ago

i’d say #5…
“jews, gypsies, homosexuals & disabled” ->
“<>, homeless, trans & DEI”

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 day ago

1,2, and 4 will lead to 3, which will then lead to 5.

[–] [email protected] 31 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Why isn't 5 circled or possibly crossed off? We've identified "illegal immigrants" as the enemies of the state, are shipping them off to essentially black-site prisons, and are threatening/attempting to annex Canada, Mexico, Panama, and Greenland. The argument for Greenland is to protect our borders.

[–] [email protected] 18 points 1 day ago (1 children)

How far along we are on 3 and 5 is an exercise left to the reader.

Here's the unmarked copy for your pleasure.

As s country, we are inherently lazy so #3 will take some instigating to get that ball rolling.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 19 hours ago

I cannot believe that another Mario brother hasn't stepped up to the plate.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 day ago

Look up the umbrella man for questions about 3

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago

#5 is always happening somewhere in the empire. I recommend checking out palestine, sudan, etc.
