I think at this point we'd get a lot of help doing it.
“That would really be something,” Trump said of the U.S. taking control of Canada.
“You get rid of that artificially drawn line, and you take a look at what that looks like. And it would also be much better for national security,” Trump said. “They’re great, but we’re spending hundreds of billions here to protect it. We’re spending hundreds of billions a year to take care of Canada. We lose in trade deficits.”
As hard as the northern border is to "secure" it would be a billion times harder to "secure" all the coastline instead of the current border.
I'm also pretty sure he thinks it's a curved line for no reason, because he doesn't understand how globes work
Many people are saying that we need more space. More living space, it’s a huge problem. We’ve been treated so badly being stuck in the room we’ve got and so I said to now former governor of Canada because he resigned in disgrace, Justin (I call him Justin), Justin we need more living space, you’re going to be the 51st state you know. You know they used to have a word for it, they called it lebensraum, did you ever hear of that? Most people don’t know that but they used to be very big into that and then the radical left made it a bad word to say. But I think we need to bring it back.
That's a great impression of Trump from 2016 because I don't think he's nearly as eloquent today.
But it's the radical atheist communist left that wants to get rid of borders, eh?
Well, the southern one is tainted. I tainted it with my taint for keepsies. All of it.
Mr. Isolationist trying to go full Putin on all our North American allies
Imagine if Canada built a wall
WW3 will start between Canuckland and MAGAland. Whodathunkit eh?
Such an underrated movie.
The U.S. President, low in the opinion polls, gets talked into raising his popularity by trying to start a cold war against Canada.
Lol. Not a bad description of what Trump is doing
It's a seriously funny movie. It probably tanked because of Michael Moore hate.
The scene with Dan Aykroyd made me laugh so hard the first time I saw it.
This seems like another crazy attention ploy that he likes to pull when he doesn't want us to see what he's really up to.
What is he trying to distract us from?
The "funny" thing?
There are actually very good arguments for the US and Canada to merge from a socioeconomic perspective. I would rather something closer to how the EU is set up but... I also think the US should be split up in that regard as well and acknowledge there isn't a HUGE difference in that case.
But that was a discussion for more like a decade ago when it looked like the US might not be a flaming wreck in a few months. Or... for a few more elections when Canada catches up with us...
But yeah. Gotta "love" trump's obsession with getting a 51st state (but not Puerto Rico or American Samoa or...) and all the chaos and strife it is already causing.
There are actually very good arguments for the US and Canada to merge from a socioeconomic perspective.
I assume you're not Canadian then?
Because one of the greatest national assets of Canada is not being part of the United States. And 82% of Canadians feel that way.
If it was an EU setup, Canada would still be separate. Germany and France are still separate countries despite being in the EU.
I think a similar North American trade union would not be the worst of ideas, but not with Trump in charge of the U.S. part.
The issue is the power disparity between Canada and the US. In the EU, that power disparity is weakened due to how many countries in the EU and how a few of the countries are somewhat similar in power.
In North America version of the EU, it would be: Canada, the US, maybe Mexico and a handful of Caribbean countries. The US would dominate the economic agenda as no one would equal the power of the US even if everyone joined together. The most likely outcome would be everyone would a "colony" to the US economic interests.
Everyone who has lived in the geographic neighbourhood of the US know quite well how US culture has dominated over native culture.
Well if Trump successful (which I.hope this all just bullshit smoke screen) then I won't need a passport to travel to Alaska through Canada.
I plan on driving through Canada to Alaska this summer.
And that's why he wants to legitimize Russia's invasion of Ukraine. He wants his own empire.
Monkey see, monkey doodoo.
He could also shit his pants and pass out. More at 11!
