That's what's hilarious and also scary about this whole thing. Trump, wanting to score easy points and get a quick win, read a sign about hospital cleaning procedures and stepped up to a podium and basically said "we're looking into things with bleach and injecting light to cure the disease."

And Fauci, doing his job, was like "please be safe, socially distance, and wear masks while we work to get a safe and effective vaccine."

And people lost their fucking minds.

I was at Chipotle when he was named CEO. Dude came in, coasted off the existing programs we had in place, and tried his best to figured out a way to get something like Doritos Locos Tacos (which they implemented when he was the CEO of Taco Bell).

Ultimately, he contributed nothing expect closing the Denver Corporate Headquarters, laying off hundreds of employees in the process, and moving it to Newport Beach so he didn't have to commute from his beach home.

Edit: Forgot to add that he made tens of millions of dollars in the process.

The black man that volunteered for that must have a death wish. He had to have gone into that thinking there was a very good chance the police would shoot him on sight.

Yeah that's the problem with people in leadership roles. They should know better than to think complex problems have easy solutions.

Unfortunately, a lot of the voting public gravitate towards the leaders that assure them there are easy answers. The average person doesn't want to hear a nuanced answer to a complex issue.

If you remember the time, Trump was pushing for any narrative that could let him say COVID wasn't a big deal and would just disappear. He was looking for easy answers.

Jesus Christ, 659,041 kids had heart attacks in 2019!?! Or are you citing statistics that aren't relevant to what's being discussed in this thread?

There are very few good use cases for AI, but sales people continue to peddle it for fucking everything.

Yesterday I was driving and my Android Auto asked if I wanted to enable AI to summarize my text messages. In what world is that a good idea? Text messages are already short. Why would I need a computer trying to make it shorter and potentially fucking up all the context?

I played hookie a few weeks ago and went down to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo on a random Tuesday. It was glorious.

Later my middle schooler was looking through Google Photos and went "wait, you and Mom went to the zoo without us?!" Mwahahaha. Get rekt kid.

Lol I can't tell if that was master class trolling or if that guy was serious 🤣

Cross posting this from https://sh.itjust.works/post/25548740

There's an issue with posts not showing as read on newer instances of Lemmy.

I've been using Sync for Lemmy for a year or so, but very recently (within the last day or so) links have stopped showing as read when I click on them and then go back. I tested this with a lemmy.world account and don't have the same problem.

I saw a post saying sh.itjust.works was updating to Lemmy v19.5 a few days ago. I'm wondering if maybe it caused a problem or if it's just me having this issue.

Thanks
