I know two middle-aged sisters who moved from California to Texas in order to be more Jesusy. They immediately developed health issues and can't get Medicaid. They blame it on liberals. Sad.

They blame it on liberals

How? What's the logic?

  • "Biden spent so much money on sex change operations for illegal immigrants that Trump literally had no choice but to cut Medicaid. Blame them, not Trump."

  • "Elon Musk pretended to be MAGA and DOGE was really made up of nothing but Democrat staffers"

  • "Trump is good and therefore anything bad that happens isn't his fault and there is no reason to look into it because Faith in Christ is all I need"

"Trump is good and therefore anything bad that happens isn’t his fault and there is no reason to look into it because Faith in Christ is all I need”

Reminds me of the old 4chan joke: "I'm straight so anything that makes my dick hard is a woman."

"...and by 'Christ', I mean Trump."

[–] timbuck2themoon 46 points 3 days ago (1 children)

That's the fun part- there is none.

For a lot of people they seem to care less about getting help than just having someone to blame.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Right but I think they wanted an actual answer about this case from the person they asked about the specific situation.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

To answer, Tim is right--they have no rationale that I can discern. They're the last surviving family of a woman I lived with for several years, and I'm barely in touch.

How? What’s the logic?

Logic? That's for liberals.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 days ago

don't use woke terms such as logic ... what are we communists ?

[–] [email protected] 11 points 3 days ago

As someone who moved from a deep blue state to a similar deep red state: it starts as a way to stand out as "one of the good ones". People pick up quickly that you aren't from around, and once they learn that you're from a "commie state" you're cooked. But also, some people move with an idealized view of conservative areas, and if they're still having problems it's only because conservatives haven't conserved enough.

I'm lucky I moved for school and could settle in with similar minded folks, otherwise I would have needed to move much sooner lol

Mike Johnson doesnt even have a real bank account. His entire job is to suck Trump's dick. You do something FUCKING constructive like you are supposed to! 'Bout had it with these fucking congressional princesses doing jack shit and then thinking we owe them. I'm fucken losin' it over here watching every one of these cunts just rape my country.

[–] [email protected] 67 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Mike Johnson hasn't reported his bank account to oversight. it's very dubious that he doesn't had a bank account at all.

I saw the bit about how the 20 hours a week can be work or volunteering, and my first thought was to figure out how to start a charity that needs people to volunteer from home doing something fairly easy but still useful. I'll have to ponder that some. It'll be a project to start working on. (Suggestions are welcome!)

[–] [email protected] 18 points 3 days ago (1 children)

a charity that helps people with the paperwork required for medicaid for free?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 3 days ago

It's absolutely abhorrent that this would be an incredibly useful service.

[–] zalgotext 8 points 3 days ago (2 children)

The first thing I thought was something like helping sort/categorize photos/documents/etc. for libraries or museums or something. But then that made me think of all the existing citizen science efforts out there where they have people categorize images of galaxies and stars and stuff, or run protein-folding simulations on their home computers, etc. I wonder if those kinds of existing things could be spun as "volunteer work".

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 days ago

That's kind of what I was thinking. Lots of options for people with different education levels.

Teaching literacy can be done online

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 days ago

That is an option, but I would want to make sure that people with limited English fluency or education wouldn't be excluded.

Mike Johnson had to get approval from his AIPAC handler before mocking Americans losing their Medicaid. Meanwhile, US taxpayers still fund free healthcare for Israel.

From the foldings of its robe, it brought two children; wretched, abject, frightful, hideous, miserable. They knelt down at its feet, and clung upon the outside of its garment.

"Oh Man! look here. Look, look down here!" exclaimed the Ghost.

They were a boy and a girl. Yellow, meagre, ragged, scowling, wolfish but prostrate too in their humility. Where graceful youth should have filled their features out, and touched them with its freshest tints, a stale and shrivelled hand, like that of age, had pinched and twisted them and pulled them into shreds. Where angels might have sat enthroned, devils lurked, and glared out menacing. No change, no degradation, no perversion of humanity, in any grade through all the mysteries of wonderful creation, has monsters half so horrible and dread.

Scrooge started back, appalled. Having them shewn to him in this way, he tried to say, they were fine children, but the words choked themselves, rather than be parties to a lie of such enormous magnitude.

"Spirit! are they yours?" Scrooge could say no more.

"They are Man's," said the Spirit, looking down upon them. "And they cling to me, appealing from their fathers. This boy is Ignorance. This girl is Want. Beware them both, and all of their degree, but most of all beware this boy, for on his brow I see that written which is Doom, unless the writing be erased. Deny it!" cried the Spirit, stretching out its hand towards the city. "Slander those who tell it ye! Admit it for your factious purposes, and make it worse! And bide the end!"

"Have they no refuge or resource?" cried Scrooge.

"Are there no Prisons?" said the Spirit, turning on him for the last time with his own words. "Are there no workhouses?"

The bell struck Twelve.

I don't think I've ever read the source material but dang that's like 70% iambic and I respect that

[–] Gates9 5 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I have avidly watched several cinematic adaptations of Shakespeare, Some several times (Ian Mckellen Richard III ❤️), I was in AP English in highschool, a good portion of which was Shakespeare…I still can’t fully understand wtf iambic pentameter means. It sure sounds cool though.

Says the guy who watches his son jerk off or let's his son watch him jerk off.

[–] [email protected] 17 points 3 days ago

I'm sure all that arrogance will keep him safe from the people he's about to disenfranchise. The people who have illnesses, diseases, injuries, and chronic pain that make their lives almost not worth living, but thank goodness they have medical care to assuage the suffering just enough. I'm sure those people won't have an axe to grind if someone decided to deride them mercilessly as unproductive societal waste as they're just trying to get through the day without treatment or medication.

This man purports to follow Jesus teachings and honor the bible - by mocking and terrorizing the poor in order to enrich himself. Either he is lying and has no religious affiliation - or he is so self deluded he thinks what he is doing is ok. Either way - total hypocrite.

I just want to check if within those millions of Americans there is one called "John Mikeson", to be able to say with certainty that :

Mike Johnson is Mocking John Mikeson

Such a fine title would make Medicaid the least of people's worries hah
