I frequently engage with right-wing people to ask questions for fun and occasionally swaying the odd user. That caught me a LOT of subreddit bans from nominally left but actually just captured lib spaces.

Actual left spaces saw no problem with this, even encouraged it.

If you're preborn you're fine; if you're preschool, you're fucked!

I'm pretty sure it's illegal to encrypt on amateur bands in the USA. I know with certainty it's illegal in Canada

Americans are being lied to all day, every day, by complicit corporate media backing an ever more corrupt establishment. This is not exclusive to Republicans by any stretch of the imagination: remember all the people clamouring against the "Bernie Bros"? I'm sure some of the people taking this extreme position against Republican voters were also bashing Bernie Bros and saying "it's her turn".

Where did that get you people, huh? Sanders and AOC extend an olive branch and fill up stadiums, while you continue to try to drive even more wedges between us. "He will not divide us"? You were right, because OP and people like OP are all too happy to drive the wedge in on their own. Trump is not the thing you're fighting against, he's effectively what you're fighting for. Go ahead, keep driving people away to the right and see what happens.

"Trump is good and therefore anything bad that happens isn’t his fault and there is no reason to look into it because Faith in Christ is all I need”

Reminds me of the old 4chan joke: "I'm straight so anything that makes my dick hard is a woman."

My issue with the 'master' debate is that the overwhelming number of people I saw fighting against its usage had only "added inclusive language to readme/CoC" as their GitHub history. At that point you're not a programmer, you're an idealogue injecting your preconceptions into a world that you don't understand. Frankly we need less intervention and presumption from this single viewpoint, the western white imperialist, and more people asking questions as their default mode of interacting with things they don't understand.

Selection bias. The nature of Reddit and its past as a liberal free speech zone lends (lended?) itself to particular traits. Reddit's average user is some combination of the following:

  • male
  • in a STEM job or training/educated for STEM work
  • grew up middle-class
  • downwardly mobile
  • has ADHD or autism

Altogether this does actually mean IQ probably trends a bit higher on average. That doesn't mean shit for the quality of your arguments if you don't critically examine your beliefs though, and anyone spouting American media talking points is not examining anything.

Honestly the suppressor is the least egregious part of the whole setup.

This is the exact opposite of what the reports out of the UK, Netherlands, Sweden, etc. are saying. They're all very seriously restricting their youth transitioning clinics because the quality of the available data is so poor it cannot be relied on. Beyond the replicability crisis, there are ideological actors on both sides making absolutely junk studies.

Hence the need for proper experimental data.

I want the strongest possible set of information for this and any other question so we can make informed decisions. Right now there are more questions than answers.

It's just like intelligent design and the "god of the gaps" arguments, where the space God/gods could have done their work slowly shrinks as our understanding of the world around us improves. I have no clue if we'll ever close all the gaps, but every time intelligent design takes a hit, more people jump ship.

also these medications have been used for literal decades so how can they be experimental?

Honest answer: the drugs are being used off-label. It's not even experimental, it's basically a wildcat way of using them. An experiment would involve control groups and a double-blind trial, among other things.

I'm saying this because this is what rightoids are saying as criticism and you need to be able to counter that with facts. Right now, there just isn't enough information and that's what they're capitalizing on.
