Exactly what came to mind when I heard about this.
In all seriousness, giving internet connected toys to kids in the form of trusted icons is evil. They will share their personal information, thoughts, desires, fears, and dreams, only to have that information collected and monetized without their consent. Evil.
It's not as though they have a strong record:
OpenAI partner with Palantir. An unholy combination showing the toy industry for what it is. We should be boycotting.
I certainly will but I know other parents won't until the kids learn how to get around whatever parental restrictions and we get Barbie saying some real fucked up shit. That gets them sued.
