Read a borderline boring book. I prefer holy scripture for that.

[–] [email protected] 23 points 2 weeks ago

Sit around petting the dogs

The dog in question:

[–] [email protected] 19 points 2 weeks ago

Take two Tylenol PM and try to finish masturbating before you pass out.

Your welcome.

[–] [email protected] 18 points 2 weeks ago

A bright screen will surely make me fall asleep.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 2 weeks ago

gestures broadly at this

No need to off yourself dude, just read a book.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 weeks ago

How do you know I use sudoku to masturbate?

[–] [email protected] 11 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

Ruminate.
Doom scroll.
Ruminate.
Wank.
Listen to a sleepy time podcast.

In that order.

Could I skip the first four and probably fall asleep immediately with the sleepy time podcast? Yes probably, but, where is the fun in that.

I've always felt that an orgasm was natures sleeping pill.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 weeks ago

Roger's Profanisaurus calls it Wanker's Cocoa.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 weeks ago

It actually tends to energize me

[–] [email protected] 8 points 2 weeks ago
[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 weeks ago

well, before antidepressants, I would've said "jerk off"

but now, errr... I dunno, torture people in video games?

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 weeks ago

Depends on the level of tired. Currently if I have enough energy I'll contribute to openstreetmap by adding some missing buildings, parkings, opening times, etc. If I don't or I'm in bed I scroll tiktok

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 weeks ago

Go to bed anyway

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 weeks ago

I usually ask people on the internet what they would do if they don't have much energy, but not tired enough to sleep.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Wank

I usually film it and send it to my fiancée to enjoy

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 weeks ago

For the last time, I am not your fiancée and I don’t want to see that shit! 😭

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Most likely, I'll lie down and will listen to music/a long YouTube video.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 weeks ago

i do this too. very good way to wind down and just rest the eyes.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 weeks ago

Music videos! Binging some of the live sessions posted by artists is a healthier time sink than most everything else on YouTube.

[–] BudgetBandit 5 points 2 weeks ago

As long as I’m not too horny to sleep and too sleepy to masturbate, I’ll masturbate.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 weeks ago

You brush your teeth

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 weeks ago

lichess.org/training

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 weeks ago

Watch movies

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 weeks ago

Read a book. Some light fantasy usually.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 weeks ago

Watch videos before passing out. It's what usually happens to me every night.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 weeks ago

Ideally: Stand up and go for a walk or my stretching routine. Usually ends the tiredness.

Realistically: Balatro

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 weeks ago

I'm in home or at work?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 weeks ago

Get high and watch a random video essay

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 weeks ago

Lay in bed and daydream.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 weeks ago

Pretend I am a monk from Monty Python and the Holy Grail until I render myself unconscious.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 weeks ago

Watch the YouTube or doom scroll Lemmy or /v/

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

You lost me at "not tired enough to sleep."

Well, time to go take a nap!

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 weeks ago

Phone game. Lately it's been Balatro or Slice and Dice.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 weeks ago

Play a house flipping game until my eyeballs burn.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 weeks ago
[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 weeks ago

Go for a saunter, even if it's just out the front door.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 weeks ago

If I’m super tired but not willing to sleep yet for reasons (lack of free time other than the evening, being the main one), I usually put the tv on and play games on my phone. Not a great use of time but as we’ve established, tired.

If I’m tired but not that tired, I put the tv on and I knit. It’s my main hobby and I’m good at it, to the point that it usually doesn’t require much thought. My secondary hobby is sewing which is much newer for me and I can’t do that tired; I make too many mistakes.

It sounds like I watch a lot of tv, but in reality the period of 9-10:30pm is the only chance I get and not every night. So it’s not that much in the long run.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 weeks ago

Play a game or watch something

Read various articles. Scientific or economic, something else. Sometimes analysis together with GPT Chat. But more often it's a series in the background while still reading. And then put the phone down and listen to the series in a mask. And that's it.

Knock it down, one way or another.
