I know Costco is American owned but these two Kirkland made in Canada products are made in Canada options for those that want the convenience of pods.

I haven’t seen any mention of these Kirkland laundry packs before, they are labeled as made in Canada from imported ingredients. I know that sounds worse than just “made in Canada” but that’s likely what “made in Canada” means on many products, otherwise they’d specify Canadian ingredients.

See our entire listing of made in Canada detergents at ShopCanadianStuff.ca note that several of the Canadian owned brands sell laundry and dishwasher pods that aren’t identified as made in Canada.

Costco is one of the few companies who have stood up to Trump, and trying to cancel DEI initiatives.

I personally will still buy from Costco, but just not the American products they sell. They have a ton of unique Canadian products I can't find anywhere else.

If the money goes to an American company, I'm not buying it. Even if it's made in Canada.

If there are Canadian alternatives from Canadian-owned companies, I'd rather buy from them first. If not, then I'll buy Canadian made from foreign companies.

All things considered, Costco is a better company than Walmart, Amazon, et al. They have a cap on how much profit they are willing to make and the CEO is on record telling people to fuck themselves for demanding to increase the price on their hotdogs.

Not saying this to convince you to change your mind, but I have started getting more and more items from Costco instead of Walmart and Amazon if I am able to.

Costco shareholders and the Board of Directors overwhelming backed DEI policies.

Costco shareholders rejected a proposal urging the wholesale club operator to evaluate any risks posed by its diversity, equity and inclusion practices.

According to preliminary results shared by Costco executives at its annual meeting Thursday, more than 98% of shares voted against the proposal.

(..)

But Costco’s board of directors voted unanimously to ask shareholders to reject the motion. The board said it believes “our commitment to an enterprise rooted in respect and inclusion is appropriate and necessary. The report requested by this proposal would not provide meaningful additional information.”

We do have an extensive list of other made in Canada laundry options (though many of the Canadian companies have imported pods) at ShopCanadianStuff.ca I think all the others are based in Canada, but Costco has a very large distribution network and gets people's attention to look at other alternatives.

is it maple syrup flavoured?

I would LOVE for my laundry to smell like maple syrup!

On the downside, I'll perpetually wonder if I spilled maple syrup all over myself...

(I know you were making a Tide Pod challenge reference, but genuinely wondering if it might make for a good scent)

I know support Canadian businesses and all, but make your own. I promise you it works better than any store bought stuff.

Where do you source the ingredients?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago

I make big batches that last for years so I cannot tell you where the borax, washing soda, bar soup, and whatever else is in it come from. It was several years ago that I last made my washing stuff so I mindlessly bought it in bulk from amazon.

For what it's worth they are one of the "good guys" who treat their employees very well and have refused to kneel to all the anti-D.E.I. stuff going on, plus they employ a lot of Canadians. So if you are going to shop at an American owned company Costco is better than many. I'd chose it over Walmart any day.

Those pods are absolutely amazing! The only problem I have with them aren't even their own fault.
