The phone number is for Lt Gov Dan Patrick’s office.

I'm in Canada and I really don't mind the long distance charges to make this call

[–] Psythik@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

Is this a joke, or are long distance charges seriously still a thing in Canada? I haven't had to pay for a long distance call since the 90s!

[–] ininewcrow@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 month ago

Within the country they don't do long distance charges any more ... unless you have a terrible phone plan.

But I still get charges for calling anyone in the US. I could get a better plan but I never call anyone in the US.

That's awesome.

It makes me sad I believed it was real

[–] Darkassassin07@lemmy.ca 72 points 1 month ago (3 children)

If OP hadn't explicitly said it was fake, I'd totally have believed it. That's the US today.

[–] magnetosphere@fedia.io 36 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Agreed. Plus, whoever wrote it did an excellent job matching the tone and style of a government notice.

[–] bizarroland@fedia.io 1 points 1 month ago

The only thing that would have prevented me from believing it is the speed with which it was deployed. If this were 2027, I might have been convinced.

Like even if they do have them on stand by ready to go, getting them installed in an airport is going to take years.

Yep and Texas is only topped by Florida when it comes to evil shit politicians do to their constituents.

[–] Gerudo@lemm.ee 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

So texas is the power bottom? Sure as fuck feels like it living here.

[–] kipo@lemm.ee 1 points 1 month ago

You live in Texas? I’m so sorry.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

It's going to happen so

[–] Brown5500 4 points 1 month ago

No, it's completely unbelievable. There's no way whatsoever that the state of Texas would disclose that they were taking pics.

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 49 points 1 month ago

Whoever stuck this there, Texas needs more of them. Preferably at each and every public restroom.

Would be hilarious as a follow up to show a letter in the mail that was along the lines of 'at first your genitals were flagged but upon further review was found you just have a really small dick' or something similar. God to see MAGAs just losing their god damned minds over it, lmfao.

[–] anomnom 11 points 1 month ago

They could have set up a voip number, recorded the incoming calls, the sent back violation notices by text later.

[–] corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

"advise you speak to your GP and ensure you don't need corrective surgery" or something?

[–] Bosht@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

Even better, haha. Some sort of threat of criminal charges unless they get gender affirming surgery.

[–] earphone843 17 points 1 month ago

I really want the original image so I can put these up in government buildings around my neck of the woods.

[–] princessnorah@lemmy.blahaj.zone 14 points 1 month ago

I know it's fake but it's totally within the realm of possibility and it'd blow their tiny minds that trans folks have had bottom surgery.

[–] iAvicenna@lemmy.world 10 points 1 month ago

know what is funnier, wasnt sure %100 that it was fake

I sure hope it is a real sticker placed by a prankster.

I also hope it reaches the attention of someone in power and they can make a real version. This way I can finally know for sure that when poop in a public restroom all of the other people who have used the same toilet had roughly similar genitals. Hopefully that will stop school shootings, because we already know that common sense gun laws won't work.

My favourite line is "at this time"

[–] ininewcrow@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 month ago

Go up to the toilet and flash a realistic looking dildo and a fleshlight
