I blame Boris’ awful haircut.

No one really knows other than Netflix execs. A lot has to do with the cost of the show per viewer. It’s why HBO/Discovery is filling up with reality programming (cheap to produce). You can have a great show and it can end up in the top ten, but if it costs too much to make then the network has to figure out if production costs can be cut. Or if costs can be offset by product placement.

Streamers shifting to ad-based plans also changes things. You can now have a premium program that’s a “loss leader” if it brings in enough subscriptions that also watch the cheap programming and existing back catalog. The additional eyeballs on ads means more cash intake for the network which balances out the more expensive shows.

I’d go for the ColecoVision. The controller on the intellevision is strange, as are the graphics. Maybe that’s your thing, but as a kid I always wanted the coleco. Especially if you can find the racing controller for Turbo.

If I were to get an Intellivision, I’d spring for the Intellevision II model. Much cooler looking design and takes up less space. The only problem is if you get the speech module, finding one to match the later design language is harder.

You’d think the server-side spam filters would be set up to catch that. Why mix two alphabets in a URL other than to do something slimy?

Central Texas is nothing like East Texas, so that makes the rest of this map suspect.

It’s a fun theory, but weren’t dishes and other artifacts stamped or embossed with “Titanic” recovered from the wreck?

It’s more like the asbestos found around talc deposits:

“But it could not rule out that the talc in some studies was contaminated with cancer-causing asbestos.”

"A causal role for talc could not be fully established," according the agency's findings published in The Lancet Oncology.

Because the studies were observational and so could not prove causation, "there isn't a smoking gun that the talc use causes any increased cancer risk," he added.

“Titus” shows up on streaming every now and then, and might be available on public library services like Hoopla and Kanopy.

Feels like we’re having a major derailing like this every six weeks or so in the US.

Do you have any data that shows Netflix didn’t lose subscribers in markets where they cracked down on password sharing? I keep seeing people saying this is the case, but all the news stories I’ve read say that Netflix is only adding subscribers in the cheaper markets (like India and South America).

Their Safari extension just stopped working. They reposted it under a new App Store entry. 🤷‍♂️🙄

That outfit looks like it was purchased by a stylist and the tags were removed just before taking this picture. “Make sure you pull up the sleeves so it looks like you’re hard working!”

Meanwhile Trump hasn’t announced a VP and the election is four months away.

Looks like Dallas is actually considering it. Of course this is one of those mythical startups, so it will probably go nowhere.

So it’s currently 100 degrees F in my garage today. I’m sure it will only get worse as the summer goes on. I added some of those insulated garage door panels, but I don’t think they did anything.

Now I’m wondering if I should add fiberglass insulation to the attic space above the garage. Would this help, or just lock in the heat? Would using a radiant barrier up there work better?

Good article about Nexstar’s race to the bottom. Maybe they can hire David Zaslav to help them run the CW further into the ground.

I swear I’d watch more of the ad-supported content on Plex if it didn’t stop every ten minutes to show four minutes of commercials. I hope they are making some money from this deal, but I doubt it. Most of this content is available from other ad supported streamers with about 1/4 of the commercials. So why would anyone watch this?

“Just seven electric-vehicle (EV) charging stations have begun operating with funding from a $5-billion U.S. government program created in 2021, marking "pathetic" progress, a Democratic senator said on Wednesday.”

I will be so glad when the flashback/flash forward/flashback fad of storytelling is over. Trying to watch “Manhunt”, and they can’t even be bothered to show the moments leading up to Lincoln’s assassination in order. It reeks of “the writing is weak — what can we do in the editing to spice things up?!”

Anyone know of a place around town that does reel mower sharpening? Austin Outdoor Power website says they no longer offer it. I have a kit but I don’t want to deal with doing it myself if I don’t have to. Thanks for any leads.
