Summary

Elon Musk is reportedly staying at a $2,000-per-night cottage at Mar-a-Lago, just steps from Donald Trump’s main residence.

Musk moved in around Election Day, watched results with Trump, and left briefly around Christmas.

Concerns in Washington are growing over Musk’s influence on Trump, as he has participated in personnel meetings, foreign leader talks, and legislative interventions.

The close relationship between the two has drawn scrutiny, with Trump publicly praising Musk. Musk’s stay, accompanied by some of his children, highlights the billionaire’s deepening ties to Trump’s inner circle.

If you pay attention to the Elon jet tracker this has been obvious for a bit. He's constantly flying to and from Mar-a-lago.

I mean, we have a location.

"I will call him... Mini-me"

[–] [email protected] 20 points 1 month ago

I like this because it's unclear who's who in your eyes and it's obvious that both these megalomaniacs think its referring to the other

Dude really disappeared after making an ass of himself and when Musk in Chief came in.

"I guess he doesn't want any CHOCOLATE! It's like catnip for clones!"

[–] [email protected] 42 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Guaranteed he had more to do with the election than people are told

[–] [email protected] 51 points 1 month ago (1 children)

He bought a social media company and made it blatantly political and then spent like $30million per month on just his donations to Trumps campaign.

I wouldn’t be surprised he did more than that.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 1 month ago (1 children)

All that is why he should be stopped

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

And who's going to do that?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago

Someone less concerned about their own safety than their future

[–] [email protected] 41 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Oh my god, they were roommates

[–] [email protected] 13 points 1 month ago

Just friends, dude

I'm genuinely surprised at the prevailing assumption that Musk's interests align with those of the general population.

Like if you hired actual experts to lead the DOGE thing they would be motivated to act in the interests of their employer (the government) because their future success would depend on their ability to do so.

Musk's future success is dependent on his ability to restructure government according to his own interests exclusively.

Case in point, the current visa fiasco. His position is very clearly aligned with his own interests.

I don't care who you voted for, this Musk thing is just bonkers.

Who on Earth is assuming that?

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 month ago

Everyone who isn't frothing at the mouth, apoplectic with rage at his involvement?

[–] [email protected] 31 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Are we suggesting a two birds, one stone situation?

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 month ago

2 guys 1 cup

[–] [email protected] 22 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Yeah Musk needs to put his side chick in check.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 month ago

Return to office or be fired! Oh yeah I'm going to Florida, bye

[–] [email protected] 19 points 1 month ago

Influence on donvict? Musk is the President and donvict is Musk's First Lady.

And if this broligarch is somehow thrown out as President and donvict needs a new sugar daddy(s), I suppose there is Thiel and Andreesen. And Vivek. Linda McMahon. Are the Mercers still around? What about the other members of the Paypal Mafia?

[–] [email protected] 17 points 1 month ago (2 children)

I wonder which smells worse. the main house or the cottage.

[–] [email protected] 27 points 1 month ago

Trump probably smells worse because is constantly shitting himself. Musk probably smells bad because he never bathes.

I read this, and the Isaac Hayes/Chef voice that lives in the back of my head asked who's havin' butt sex?

[–] kablammy 8 points 1 month ago

So Musk is doing a lot of cottaging around Trump?

[–] andrew_bidlaw 7 points 1 month ago

Nuke it. We'd see if being a handful of radioactive ash bars one from being the president of the US of A.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 month ago

Aww, they are having a sleepover!

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Is he paying inflated rates?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (2 children)

He is paying the equivalent of you or I paying one cent for a years rent, maybe less.

It's trickling down so much I hope it stops soon.

Edit, I did the math, and it's exaggerated, but functionally the same sentence.

[–] Voroxpete 8 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

The math on this is actually worth sharing, because it really does get across the unbelievably staggering scale of his wealth.

A lot of people struggle to pay $2,000 a month in rent. Elon is paying that every day. And yet, if he stayed there for a hundred years, it would still only amount to 0.016% of his current estimated net worth ($465bn).

If you had $10,000 in your bank account, this would be the equivalent of you paying $1.50 for one hundred years of rent. Or, as you said, about one and a half cents per year.

The idea that anyone ever deserves to be that wealthy is beyond insane.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago

Oooof, I did the math with 250B, I actually was not far off.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago

It's going to be on the taxpayer dime, like the accommodations for the SS protecting the family. That's the point.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 month ago

Remember when Trump told his potential VP that they could run everything? Was that Pence, or was that pre-Pence?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago

gayyyyyyyy

(Only pouring gas in a fire 😉)
