Summary

Florida, under Governor Ron DeSantis, is delaying a planned expansion of the KidCare health insurance program, which would provide coverage for 42,000 additional low-income children.

The Biden administration approved the expansion with conditions, including a federal rule requiring continuous coverage even if families miss premium payments.

Florida unsuccessfully challenged the rule in court and now seeks a delay, hoping the incoming Trump administration will modify the requirements.

Critics warn that the delay harms vulnerable families, especially as 532,000 children recently lost Medicaid coverage during the post-pandemic unwinding process.

I think we recently saw what can happen to individuals that screw people over on healthcare...

"Pro-life", what a euphemism. They should call themselves pro-suffering and pro-control-other-people's-body

I’ve always hated the term because they’re definitely not promoting life.

I’ll believe it when I see such intense support for childcare.

And the elderly, chronically and terminally ill, homeless, poor....

I like to call them anti-choice. Anti-family planning. Anti-freedom. Anti-healthcare or anti-medicine. Anti-women. If they insist on having the pro or for label, they're pro-forced birth or forced-birthers.

'the children must suffer' - conservatives

but only if we judge them by their actions and words.

It’s their own fault for not being independently wealthy.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 2 weeks ago

The cruelty is the point. Especially considering the skin color of the majority of those kids.

“Have more kids, no more abortions!” “Also, fuck your kids 😂”

Probably not the best time to push for that if you plan to live a long life. We are eating the rich now.

Don't get carried away. A nibble, not even a whole bite, has been taken. Whether we have acquired the taste for it remains to be seen.

Funny thing is, you can still de facto see it. Just gotts click one extra menu. Love Lemmy and the Modlogs feature.

I mentioned this before today but using Sync I can see removed comments automatically. There's just a little trashcan icon to show it was deleted. The only ones that don't show up are the ones the user deleted themself.
