Documenting hate-speech, conspiracy theories, apologia/revisionism, and general tankie behaviour across the fediverse

What is a Tankie?

Alternatively, a detailed blog post about Tankies.

(caution of bias)

Basic Rules:

Sh.itjust.works Instance rules apply! If you are from other instances, please be mindful of the rules. — Basically, don't be a dick.

Hate-Speech — You should be familiar with this one already; practically all instances have the same rules on hate speech.

Apologia(Using the Modern terminology for Apologia) No Defending, Denying, Justifying, Bolstering, or Differentiating authoritarian acts or endeavours, whether be a Pro-CCP viewpoint, Stalinism or any variation of Tankie Ideology.

Revisionism — No downplaying or denying atrocities past and present. Calling Tankies shills, foreign/federal agents, or bots also falls under this rule. Extremists exist. They are real. Do not call them shills or fake users.

Tankies can explain their views but may be criticised or attacked for them. Any slight infraction on the rules above will immediately earn a warning and possibly a ban.

If you're violating instance rules, you'll typically be warned. Continuing poor behaviour after being warned will result in a ban or removal of your comments. Bans typically only last seven days, but repeat infractions will have longer sentences. You may ask to be unbanned.

"Reactionary is just a made-up word to justify lumping in non-MLs with fascists"

[–] [email protected] 14 points 4 months ago

Getting confusing because MLs are reactionary

What the hell even is that word? Does that mean that you react to something? Because everyone does.

I'm seeing the word thrown around lately and it's one of the dumber reductionist labels I've seen in my lifetime.

did you get banned from Google or something? It's a common word in political science dating back to the French revolution, not some weird new invention.

I can't tell if everyone itt is being sarcastic or smth

what kind of a world are we living in where people can just make up words to describe whatever concept they want

Thanks Derrida

Could it be that people are opposed to secret police regardless of the colors on their flag? No, it must be a western psy-op.

The funny thing is that nothing shields you from a bad outcome. In the 50s, Czech Communist Party's "capital punishment recommendation guy" himself got executed.

Revolutions tend to devour their children.

All words are made up; that's what language is

[–] [email protected] 9 points 4 months ago

“Counterrevolutionary” is a word devised in order to avoid saying “rules for thee by not for me”.

What if they forgot that communism can't be authoritarian nor a regime

[–] sugar_in_your_tea 1 points 4 months ago

Well, it certainly can be if we're calling nonsense like the USSR and China "communist," which is apparently what we've been doing for 70+ years. Those regimes are authoritarian, and they're labeled "communist," so by the "words mean whatever the common use is" metric, communism absolutely can be authoritarian.

Hannah Arendt worked for the CIA.

Attack the material, not the source. Her writing on her subject matter are some of the best in my opinion.
