Well, I really hoped that my Laptop will be delivered via DHL, but as it turns out, FedEx ships to Germany too...

And i´ve really seen it all, from Peoples Packages just going to Hong Kong for no reason, them not showing up, to one Persons Package even being bent 90°

And even my own experiences arent the best. last time they delivered something they just threw the package at me and ran away.

So, I just wanted to ask around if anyone actually has good experiences with them, now that I unwillingly trusted FedEx 1000€ of my Money that i likely will never see again

I guess it varies where you live with who you like! I HATE DHL here on the east coast in the states. FedEx is the best in my area. UPS is close

As with any shipping company, a small number of packages can get lost or damaged in shipping. You won't really hear people post about positive experiences but you'll definitely hear people about bad experiences. Realistically, if any shipping company lost or damaged a significant number of their packages, they wouldn't be in business. I've had several deliveries through Fedex and not even one has been lost or damaged.

It's a textbook example of selection bias

lol, I also hate FedEx, but 3-day international delivery to east coast US was very fast and timely. At least this time :D

You didnt hand 1000€ over to FedEx. Framework handed 1000€ of their € to FedEx and until you get an undamaged laptop into your hands, that's frameworks problem, not yours.

I live in germany and was scared as well but it did arrive in one piece. And luckily they even handed to me instead of throwing it.

They have had a weird route though. All okay though

As with any courier/delivery service it all depends where you live and how good or bad your local depot is. For some people FedEx will be the best of the lot, for others not so much. There's no hard and fast rule. In my case FedEx generally outperforms UPS for deliveries. For others it might be the other way round.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 9 months ago

In my case the local depot is going to "lose" your package unless you call immediately to their customer service line and force them to put it on a truck for delivery the next day. And then once the truck comes the delivery person will walk on your lawn, will ignore the stairs to your porch, and instead will throw your package over the porch railing resulting in at least a 4ft drop for the package, which more than likely will break it.

Luckily for my framework it came via FedEx Express for some reason, and it has to be signed for so that person actually came to the door and I actually got the package in hand instead of it being dropped.

Also from Germany, no issues but I was supriced that the package arrived at 7:30 am

FedEx is by far the worst of the bunch

[–] [email protected] 1 points 9 months ago

FedEx is inexplicably terrible at delivering packages considering that's essentially all they do. However, they're not definitely not the only ones (though never had issues with DHL).

My first Framework was delivered to the Fedex vendor about a block away. It arrived too quickly for me to be at home.

So, in that case I was happy.

They are absolutely shocking. Currently waiting TWO WEEKS for them to deliver a laptop that is already in the UK.

They claimed to have tried to deliver but did nothing of the sort. My laptop is currently now rapidly heading away from me according to the tracker. Never seen the like

My company ships thousands of boxes per year with UPS and FedEx (and a little DHL). We don't notice much differences in damaged or lost packages between the two. But we ship to businesses, not homes so that might make a difference.

Personally, I really wouldn't worry about it until you actually have a problem.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 9 months ago

When shipping thousands upon thousands of packages in a single month, statistically, there will be misses as things happen. Solid deliveries that meet expectations are not posted online as, again, expectations are met. Very rarely do deliveries go above and beyond, resulting in an online post. Negative experiences result in online posts, skewing the perception that something is "bad". In general, we've been very pleased with FedEx performance globally, but there will always be areas for improvement on all sides. We share feedback with our Logistics team, but again, the numbers show that FedEx, in general, is doing a tremendous job.

I've had soooo many cases of FedEx delivering my stuff to one of my neighbors. I do occasionally get my neighbor's packages too. Even though we all have well labeled houses.

Additionally FedEx does shit like give you some reasonable shipping date, then it gets delayed by 2 days, then when the delay ends up being only 1 day, they pat themselves on the back for an "early" delivery. The math ain't mathing bro.

Where I am in the States FedEx is generally fine but I get really annoyed with the fact that they let you sign for packages online but that signature does nothing. My Framework shipments and another shipment from Sony all required signatures on delivery but I signed online ahead of time because I knew I would be at work since they deliver here at around 12pm. Every time they take the package back to their warehouse and I have to drive 30-40 mins each way to pick it up.

Name a carrier and I know someone who hates them and refuses to use them.

Purolator

My company uses purolator for almost everything and have had some bad experiences but we ship a lot of stuff

[–] [email protected] 1 points 9 months ago

Speaking to FedEx in the US, I very much prefer UPS/ USPS, but not because they've broken anything. They tend to just "lie" about delivery days and will even say something is out for delivery multiple days in a row, but not deliver it. I think it's probably a staffing issue, but not sure. Mostly makes it annoying to try and make sure you're home to receive stuff, but I don't think they've ever lost anything of mine.

I guess it's a bit hit and miss. I had a laptop delivered in 5 days from Taiwan to the UK thru Fedex. I've ordered an HDMI module that's taken the same amount of time to come from the Netherlands, seems FedEx gave up when it was within 30 miles and handed it off to Royal Mail who are delivering it tomorrow.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 9 months ago

I personally have had mostly bad experiences with FedEx, but I do eventually get my packages in good shape. Their UI for tracking and management is awful. I had to sit on hold with support for fifty five minutes yesterday to confirm that the pickup was registered instead of delivery despite them not showing that. Now it's going through additional clearance in Alaska for customs.

That last part is likely a customs caused issue, but damn are they unclear and have bad customer experience in my experience.

I'm in Germany, in Wakanda an der Spree.

Absolutely reliable and quick delivery via FedEx.

GLS is trash, all other carriers are fine.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Ha. In the US FedEx has a much better reputation than DHL. Realistically they must all have similar performance to still be doing business.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 9 months ago

In my case DHL hands off to the USPS, which is better than FedEx in my area... Let that sink in, USPS, handles packages better than a company whose entire job is to handle packages.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 9 months ago

I've received two things via FedEx this week and I didn't come to the internet to let everyone know that my packages arrived on time.

Remember, people come to complain, while the people with good service just go about their day.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 9 months ago

As someone who used to load trucks for FedEx. Yeah they suck. But probably not any worse than anyone else.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 9 months ago

I never have a problem with them.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 9 months ago

Any shipping company is only as good as its worst employee, with that in mind they are all potentially terrible. Keep in mind that if an employee could be hurt but stop a package from falling, the company would rather the package fall and get damaged, usually costs them less.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 9 months ago

yes

ExpressOne is possibly the best delivery service right now, then there are the average ones like FoxPost, then there is the last resort such as GLS, and bottom of the barrel is FedEx.

FedEx in Germany is even worse than DPD and that’s hard. But I have the feeling they are more suited towards B2B here in Germany than all the other services as they don’t really have an infrastructure with pick up shops. I ended up mailing them that I pickup the package at their Hub here in the town I live. Luckily it’s only 10 minutes by car to their Hub. That was way easier than to coordinate a date as they basically only deliver when I am at work and don’t do weekend delivery. (I guess it’s extra and framework only offers weekday delivery via FedEx).

Fun thing is a return shipment you get a UPS Return label.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 9 months ago

When FedEx delivered my Framework laptop, they didn't update the tracking information (after November 24th, it showed a "delayed" notice and it was stuck in Tennessee , and couple that with the Thanksgiving holiday, my package was delivered a day late.

Thankfully, my package didn't seemed to be damaged, and the things inside the box were really well packaged.

I've had dozens of packages delivered by various delivery companies (USPS, FedEx, and UPS) over the past three months, and thankfully I've hadn't had any problems other than the aforementioned late delivery.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 9 months ago

It was my first and only delivery by FedEx. I wasn't at home so the delivery guy called me and asked if I knew a neighbor or if he should reroute it to my workplace. I took the second option and I got it the next day at work without a problem(Austria). But I guess u can always be unlucky no matter which delivery company.
