Rules:
1. Be civil
Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.
2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.
Obvious right or left wing sources will be removed at the mods discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted seperately but not to the post body.
3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.
Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.
4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source.
Posts which titles don’t match the source won’t be removed, but the autoMod will notify you, and if your title misrepresents the original article, the post will be deleted. If the site changed their headline, the bot might still contact you, just ignore it, we won’t delete your post.
5. Only recent news is allowed.
Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.
6. All posts must be news articles.
No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials or celebrity gossip is allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis.
7. No duplicate posts.
If a source you used was already posted by someone else, the autoMod will leave a message. Please remove your post if the autoMod is correct. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.
8. Misinformation is prohibited.
Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.
9. No link shorteners.
The auto mod will contact you if a link shortener is detected, please delete your post if they are right.
10. Don't copy entire article in your post body
For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

I all invite them to come to germany and do it :)
Germany is literally right on the edge of their own fascist issues right now. The symbolism may not be as directly 1to1 as America. But the outcomes are building up to be the same. Germans learned all the wrong lessons from their past and now the "never again" seems to be "well, again, but only to Muslims this time. We promise it stops there"
How's that song go? "Tell them that the Nazis never really went away". They weren't kidding.
it's worse than that, we shift all the guilt about antisemitism and nazism onto muslims, so that they're perceived as the actual nazis and we're innocent happy fellows who are bestest of friends with The Jews™ who just happen to all support and live in israel and no other jewish opinion or existence is allowed or acknowledged. the palestinian genocide really is a denazification, israel is just cleaning up little hitler babies with daily bomb and drone strikes.
I don't struggle with it at all. I accepted it decades ago. I suppose it makes the end of the world easier to deal with.
Humanity can be incredible, but humans sucks.
Funny, I believe the exact opposite propositions. A human has the potential to be brilliant and beautiful but humanity will never be as intelligent as an ant colony.
Yeah, straight up disagree.
People are not individually brilliant, we are the result of hundreds of generations of iteration and resilience. No one has built and started from zero even people like me that avoids others.
People are not superheroes, they aren't individual creators they are at the new end point of the neverending colony.
But the individual will always let you down. They are not as perfect or incredible as our beliefs in them.

Up until the last decade wars were mostly fought due to resources that were needed to survive. We only recently have been able to perfect agriculture output to feed the entire world several times over.
Unfortunately, we have not been allowed to transition to a more humanitarian based economic system. Most world powers are still operating on imperialism and capitalist exploitation. At least in the past conflicts were often inevitable results of scarcity (or the fear of it at least).
I would give humanity more time. We need to weed out the parasites of capitalism and nationalism. We are living in an age that is struggling against them. Keep faith in that struggle. It likely will not end in our lifetimes. The true meaning of life is to plant trees under whose shade you do not expect to be able sit.

i think the only way we can survive and create a successful egalitarian society is by having some sort of overlord ruling over us
so for example let's say we write a constitution and then have a super-powered generalized artificial intelligence machine force us to follow the rules

They come over, do the Hitlergruß, then get arrested and heavily fined because its highly illegal to do that in germany
Couple years ago I was drinking in Prague in the middle of the night and came across these German teenagers doing it and they told me "it's great we are allowed to do this in Czech Republic" lol
I have pics of them doing it, absolutely wild
It's actually banned in Czech Republic as well. Not surprising, considering some of the atrocities of the Nazis there
There’s an AfD poster doing the rounds right now where the adults are doing the fascist salute.
Weird, that poster was hung up in July 2024 and originally made the rounds then.
They'd have diplomatic immunity and the AfD would cheer.
If you were going to kick them out of the country for doing it, we'll, they've already done it. You can kick them out preemptively.
Bannon has diplomatic immunity? He's just some loser.
I'm not sure this one would have landed him in a prison cell (or citation or whatever they do).
As long as they don't protest against genocide, they're safe in germany.
