Football has become over commercialised and sanitised in my view. People were against the idea of modern football about 15 years ago but most people are only waking up to it within the last few years and realising what the sport has become at the top level. Higher ticket pricing, all-seater stadiums (albeit justified), gentrification of crowds, half-time shows, Ariana Grande style concerts before prestigious finals, and so on.

English football, at least at the top level, is dead for me. It's become a product of Sky. "Anyone can beat anyone", but come May it's largely the same top 4 teams every year. It's become a dick swinging contest between the billionaires of the top 6 clubs. Can't be bothered with trying to keep up with the constant news cycles, especially during the transfer windows.

Definitely not as interested in it as I was in my younger days, but I still follow it all through force of habit unfortunately.

There's stereotypes in the media for sure. Hard to say if there's any active stereotypes or prejudice against US players in the management and coaching world since most people are not in it.

However, you have to think that if you're good enough then you'll play. Every player, regardless of nationality, has to fight for their place and the US just don't produce world class players for the very top level.

McTominay was clowned on for ages, but he's such an underrated baller.

Yeah UEFA definitely want to put through the more commercial teams into the knockouts for that sweet $$$£££.

I know we're all laughing at Newcastle, but does anyone else think there's something in the idea that UEFA try and keep all the big names for the knockouts for financial purposes?

We generally see the same 5/6 teams in the latter stages most years of the ucl.

Never a pen, but I guess PSG's payment cleared before Newcastle's lol

Mbappe been invisible twice now against Newcastle, no wonder he doesn't want to leave the bum french league

This will just result in more people crying about subjective fouls - why did that tackle get an orange card but this tackle didn't?.

Adding even more subjectivity into the game for fans to cry about isn't the answer.

It's still only a third of the way into the season. Things can still turn around and narratives in football move fast. Everyone had Luton to go down after the first 5 games but now some are saying they could stay up after some good performances and results.

We may see some sackings around Christmas time or just after if things don't improve for either of those clubs.
