They have identified a suspect, 57yo dude, named in the article below. The cop car was apparently fake but was an SUV dudded up to look like a real one.

The early morning attacks targeting lawmakers in the northern suburbs of Minneapolis prompted warnings to other elected officials around the state and the cancellation of planned “No Kings” demonstrations against President Donald Trump. Authorities say the suspect had “No Kings” flyers in his car and writings mentioning the names of the victims as well as other lawmakers and officials, though they could not say if he had any other specific targets.

oh well isn't that just fucking convenient

Not really. In trump's ideal world, the protests happen and turn violent.

Worked for a company called Praetorian that he and his wife created. Using that as the name of your private security is suspect based on the Praetorian Guard and its history.

I’m guessing he was one of those Republican hires in an attempt to be bipartisan.

Don't even have to dud one up, you can get running used cop explorers or durangos at auctions for like $2k in the right places, and already have the wheels and bullbar and paint scheme.

I wouldn't be able to tell the difference

EU saving my ass from another invasive data farmer lol

Which again shows that the site owners don't even know what 451 is referring to in the first place.

It'd be hilarious if it wasn't so post apocalyptic

If it isn't obvious from putting 'assassination' in quotes, The Center Square and its owner, Franklin News Foundation, provide news from a right-wing perspective.

A man impersonating a pig, at least.

What's the functional difference?

A rent-a-cop likely has an even bigger inferiority complex, and is potentially more dangerous, for one. Being unable to become a real cop is like being unable to win a staring contest against yourself in a mirror.

staring contest against yourself

To be fair to them; the symbolic mirror fight is usually not something that happens early in a story.

A security company, run by evangelicals. Not sure where the line is between security guard and privatized police acting in a zone they were not authorized in.

Off duty security guard may be the best term. The security group likely makes their vehicles and gear look similar to police intentionally so people react to them like police.

Laws against such would be good.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago

If we just add more laws, they'll stop doing illegal things!

[–] [email protected] 10 points 2 days ago

No problem since the police makes themselves look like military, so if it looks like a tank, it's probs police, if it looks like a police car, it's most likely security. If it looks like security, then I guess it's going to be Jimbo with the lifted truck bought on credit. /s

This is so fucking awful

[–] [email protected] 11 points 2 days ago

We can take that out of quotes, I think.
