FWIW, it probably slid around because it was loose. They do need to be tightened from time to time.

Mine won't get any tighter and it slides. I would fix it but I'm renting and I'm not doing my landlord any favors as I'm about to move anyhow.
Yeah I tried it. It really was just a really cheap seat.
While the seat is off I recommend installing a bidet, they hook up right to the water at the back of the toilet. 10/10 recommend.
I left that part out because it wasn’t dull enough. Most of the reason I shifted around was to get the nozzle position just right. So yes, Bidet Master Race ✊

Hey we did this a couple months ago. For the first time in my life I am the proud owner of a soft-close toilet seat.
Just a warning: check what cleaners are compatible with your new toilet seat. I used the same bleach I normally use on my new wooden seat and now my toilet is all streaked and discolored because the paint was removed. I'm going to try a spray-on enamel oil-based paint at some point to try to repair (after stripping and sanding), but better to not have to do this at first.
Most likely, I'm using stronger stuff than I need to anyway and I should switch cleaners. You shouldn't need to clean "99.99+% of viruses and bacteria" on your personal toilet seat because you and your family will spread those to each other through other means than your butts.
Yeah if you’re stripping paint, you might be going a little too hardcore there.
It was just the Chlorox bathroom cleaner, so nothing that might be considered industrial strength. I think an all-purpose cleaner or maybe some Castile soap may be enough.

I’ve been meaning to get the one that glides closed instead of slams/has to be guided down. I had one at my old place and was too lazy to uninstall it come moving time. I regret that every day.

Have you ever popped the toilet seat and lid off and put it in the dishwasher?
It gets nice and clean but I wouldn’t recommend doing that with a wooden one.
Im sorry, I don't care if its sanitized before during and after, im not putting my toilet seat in the dishwasher. You do you though :P
