And threatening Canada's sovereignty is worse than pulling US alcohol or tariffs. So choke on my hairy Canadian ballsack Lawson, you filthy fascist cunt.

You know the greatest part of this seeing a Canadian get angry, I don't think I've ever seen that before.

Historically speaking, when the Canadians get angry, the Geneva Convention list gets amended.

And/Or the White House and Washington DC get burned to the ground, Maine gets entirely occupied...

I always find it funny that Americans just forget how fucking badly the war of 1812 went for us.

Our goddamned national anthem is about one of the few non complete clusterfuck losses in that war, its about the British fleet realizing burning Baltimore to the ground would be a bit too difficult and withdrawing... whereas basically every other military action in the war of 1812 was a disorganized rout for Americans.

Keep it up, Canada!

Then he should complain to Drumpf that his tariffs are hurting his business and actively Making America Terrible Again.

[–] [email protected] 19 points 1 month ago

Yup. Trump created this problem.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 1 month ago

I don't like Jack Daniel's and I think they are making America terrible themselves.

[–] [email protected] 49 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Maybe Jack Daniel’s shouldn’t have supported republicans. Looks like they had supported more democrats but also republicans. Everyone knew this shit was going to happen. Sucks to be them.

Do companies have any reason to invest in political parties, other than to sway policies?

It's pretty clear there will always be a conflict of interest, so how the fuck is this allowed?

[–] [email protected] 41 points 1 month ago (4 children)

Correct me if I'm wrong Canadians, but I'm assuming there wasn't a national mandate to pull American products off the shelves. This was a decision that individual businesses or companies chose to do, to not support our dumbasses over here in the states. You know, like every business chooses what to put on their shelves.

So in other words, shut the fuck up JD.

Liquor in Ontario is sold and controlled by the LCBO, and were directed to remove all American products from the shelves by our Premier (governer sorta)

Same with BC and NS. So not a Federal/National mandate, but a political one indeed.

[–] Kecessa 12 points 1 month ago

Same with the SAQ in Quebec and although it very closely follows the LCBO in total L sold (which is scary considering the difference in population and the fact that alcohol is more broadly available outside the crown corporation), it's the biggest importer of alcohol in the world because Ontario buys a much bigger proportion of Canadian alcohol compared to Quebec...

But Jack Daniels itself though, Ontario is probably a bigger market because Ontarians drink more strong alcohol and Quebecois drink more wine...

[–] [email protected] 17 points 1 month ago

I never foresaw a future in which I'd have to determine whether someone was addressing a fictional doctor, a US vice president, or a liquor company.

[–] [email protected] 17 points 1 month ago

The distribution of alcohol in Canada is handled through province-level agencies (like states in the US). Most premiers (like governors in the US) ordered to stop distributing US alcohol in the individual provinces.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 month ago

Liquor stores are government run in most Canadian territories. It wasn't a National mandate, but it was a government mandate in the provinces that did make that decision.

Cry baby, cry...

TIL - Levi Strauss & Co., one of the world's most iconic denim manufacturers, a brand that exemplifies many aspects of the American Dream, is made in:

Bangladesh Cambodia China India Sri Lanka Vietnam Bangladesh Cambodia China India Sri Lanka Vietnam Mexico Nicaragua Haiti

Not anymore made in the USA. Changing economic realities and global manufacturing has changed things for decades, trade agreements have been the reason why Americans can afford their lifestyles. So get ready to pay upwards of $300 for a pair of jeans people.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago

To be fair, they were probably made with forced labor from prisons (aka slave labor) prior to off-shoring. So, probably a net positive for ethics.

Also, fun fact, the heir to the Levi Strauss fortune just bought himself the mayorship of San Francisco.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago

Meh, I think mine can go with a few more holes anyway

[–] [email protected] 19 points 1 month ago

Some aren't seeing the realities of these tariffs. Withdraw them, it's too fucking late.

We American's have made it crystal clear we cannot be trusted, the world is moving on no matter what we do. We've set in motion a monster than cannot be recalled.

Reminds me of COVID in 2020. We learned we could do without, tightened our belts. Consumer behavior doesn't spin on a dime. Once people become accustomed to doing with less, spending less, they have a new habit. Does that make sense?

[–] [email protected] 16 points 1 month ago

They should dump it in lake Superior or the ocean too, and really send a message. Call it the Canadian Cocktail Party

[–] [email protected] 15 points 1 month ago

Cry us a river.

You have a problem? Blame Trump.

[–] RelativeArea1 12 points 1 month ago (1 children)

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago

Nice use of industry terminology!

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 month ago

Guess jack daniel's is on team everybody and knows that trump's a dumbfuck now and will oppose him at every turn.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago

Is it worse than annexation? I’m imaging it is not.
