I love the ending. Every late Twitter refugee deserves a lecture.

[–] explodicle 5 points 19 hours ago

Show, don't tell. After a week on Lemmy I realized just how toxic my algorithms had become.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Not too sure. I for sure wouldn't lecture people coming from Reddit to here

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 hours ago

You are too busy shoving them out of the fire escape.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 19 hours ago

Maybe it’s best to wait until they say they like it.

"while you were having premarital twitter I masteredon " FTFY

[–] [email protected] 24 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (3 children)

My recommendation are:

sh.itjust.works (has no applications last I checked)

lemmy.ca (cuz maple syrup)

sopuli.xyz (the list is now finn-ished)

All of these have defederated the tankie instances, and are amongst the most active instances (so the odds of shutting down is lower).

[–] 31337 2 points 20 hours ago (2 children)

What tankie instances has sh.itjust.works de-federated from? And any discussions as to why? I moved here from lemmy.world, specifically because they were too ban/block/defed happy.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 14 hours ago (2 children)

lemmy.sdf.org doesn't block anything

(I personally would rather not see tankie shit, but each to their own... 🤷‍♂️)

[–] [email protected] 2 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

There's tankie shit, then pedo instances...

Still running on 0.19.3, no news on any updates: https://lemmy.sdf.org/comment/16308848

If someone wants almost no deferation

[–] [email protected] 1 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

I wonder how pedo instances even run, aren't csam illegal worldwide? How do they even exist without the US just sending the FBI to raid whereever they are (like they did to Kim Dotcom's piracy cloud service).

Easy enough to scroll past. Hexbear was a bit annoying with what looked like brigading sometimes. Don't recall anything too egregious from lemmygrad and don't recall beehaw being tankie. Awful.systems is very toxic, but I'd rather just choose not to participate myself than my home instance making that decision for me. On that note, lemmy needs tools so users can block users/communities/instances; I think some proprietary apps support it, but I'm not going to use proprietary software if I don't have to.

[–] TriflingToad 1 points 18 hours ago (2 children)

beehaw, lemmygrad, hexbear.
sure there's more but there's not a way to see why they are defederated
https://sh.itjust.works/instances

[–] [email protected] 2 points 14 hours ago

For beehaw its because beehaw defederated sh.itjust.works first, so having beehaw comments show up is just too confusing since sh.itjust.works could see beehaw comments, but not the other way around, and since beehaw could never see the replies from sh.itjust.works users anyways, so they also defederated to make it less confusing.

Nice list, I usually don't use SJW as the name can seem goofy

https://discuss.online/ is well managed and US based

[–] explodicle 1 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

I just want shit to work. I used to be on a smaller instance but we had a lot of downtime and eventually shut down.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 14 hours ago

It indeed works very well

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I mean, unless you are a celebrity doing a AMA, I don't see how "goofiness" can be an issue.

[–] Cracks_InTheWalls 7 points 1 day ago

Some people have a real problem with the name. Personally it's 9/10ths of why I picked it.

cough sh.it.heads for life cough

Also lemmings.world, it has Lemmings in the name which makes it the best by default. Hosted in EU.

Intentional spelling gaffe, or accidental?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 day ago

I assumed it was from this. 😎

[–] [email protected] 10 points 2 days ago (1 children)

premarital twitter is the worst

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Though it does appear to reduce rates of postmarital twitter.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 day ago

I don't know, Elon has extreme postmarital Twitter energy.
