It may be an innocent enough racquet sport, but Hong Kong's Education Bureau has unintentionally given badminton a whole new meaning.

In teaching materials it released last week, a module titled adolescents and intimate relationships for Secondary Year 3, suggested that teenagers who wanted to have sex with each other could "go out to play badminton together" instead.

The materials also include a form called "My Commitment" aimed at getting "young lovers" to attest that they would exercise "self-discipline, self-control, and resistance to pornography".

“Hey babe, want to whack my birdie?” “Give me that shuttlecock!”

Me and your mom played doubles last night.

This reminds me of the time, in college, when a Christian fellowship leader gave us all a list of alternatives to sex, including

  1. Passing chocolate from mouth to mouth
  2. Naked wrestling...

  1. Naked wrestling...

That just sounds like a euphemism for sex, not an alternative.

Sounds like he caught his parents as a kid, they said they are "naked wrestling"and he never questioned it

The chocolate one sounds like a scat fetish

That just sounds like a list of things to say to have plausible deniability.

We finally figured out why Linus is so deep into badminton.

I blame the shuttlecock. It’s always the shuttlecock.

"C'mon, girl. Lemme stick it in your bad mitten."

These modules FROM THE HONG KONG GOVERNMENT look like a power point lesson plan that I would have done in college.

However, the learning goals are very progressive. This part is what should be taught about sex everywhere:

Whenever a behaviour occurs, it is often accompanied by an activating event (including people, circumstances, events) and a consequence.

Also, the unit on myths vs. reality. This is important stuff that doesn't get taught in the US, due to conservative prudes and it's my opinion that the sexually uneducated end up causing sexual abuse.

I admittedly haven’t read the material, but your quoted text sounds very vague and indirect. Perhaps there was more content that was more direct and concrete.

Yeah, I wonder where you could look it up? Maybe in the link OP posted above. Or you could just comment and look stupid, it's up to you.

[–] threeganzi 4 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Yeah, I admittedly chose the latter :)

Admitting something is the first step in clicking the link before commenting.

TIL it's not called "badmitten"

[–] [email protected] 5 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Today I read your comment twice before I realized my brain had autocorrected all badminton to badmitton

Big time Mandela Effect.

The "Challengers" sequel writes itself.

I played badminton with a friend and their girlfriend a few days ago. Guess in HK that'd pass as a euphemism.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 months ago

In my country, they used to suggest playing football/soccer also. XD

First the badminton, then the sex.
