Pretty sure he had a stroke writing this

I couldn't find the words to describe my confusion. Thanks...perfectly stated.

Yup, that's one of the symptoms of having a stroke.

The secondary lesson here is, sometimes it's better to not try and force in an analogy to be cute. People start arguing about the analogy and miss the original point.

[–] [email protected] 19 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Even without the analogy I'm not sure what the original point is

[–] [email protected] 7 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I think one paraphrase would be to push the limits, but not to the point where you're the problem or asshole, and to use what you have at the moment wisely instead of waiting for the perfect solution to show up.

Force an analogy even if you haven’t figured out an applicable one yet

Based ENTIRELY on the first statement...

I once had an accident at work that resulted in having my thumb nail ripped off completely. In addition to a few other injuries which healed after a few months, it took nearly 6 months to regrow my nail. During which time I learned having a finger nail helps give your finger "meat" something to press against, instead of literally trying to pick something up essentially with your bone.

Thanks for sharing that.

Adderall + procrastination = this post

Adderall in someone without ADHD, no less.

Most likely ran thru a free translator by someone who can't speak English.

But the gist is you can't wait to have the perfect tool for the job, and you have to maintain the tools you have so you keep them.

Like, it's not just random gibberish, there is a point and logic backing it up along with an analogy tying it all together.

It's not like this guy is stupid, he just trusted a bad translator and should have known it wouldn't get something this complicated translated well

[–] Socsa 7 points 10 months ago

Sure, there's a point, but these "LinkedIn philosophy" posts are still kind of weird.

ran thru a free translator

You mean "run through," right?

by someone who can't speak English

[–] [email protected] 7 points 10 months ago

Why would he try to force an analogy where none exist?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 7 months ago
