Not to be confused with Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing (3M Company)

Are they the ones who filled my blood with delicious PFAS???

[–] [email protected] 50 points 5 months ago (2 children)

Officially: No.

Unofficially: [REDACTED]

I look forward to the day that corporations lose a lawsuit and openly admit that they poisoned all of humanity.

After that, I expect the corporations to sue all of humanity for harboring their IP. Of course, they'll win their case in a Texas court and will make multitudes more than they'll ever have to disburse in payouts

All the accusations just seem to slide right off of them.

They were, Minnesota banned PFAS last year without warning to 3M so it's a very small consolation prize

"...and my balls!"

I live in Michigan and sell to manufacturers. This is terrific news to be in manufacturing sales in Michigan.

I'm not a smart man, but Michigan seems pretty far away from the Ocean

I admire your honesty and capacity for self-reflection. But shipping is huge in the Great Lakes. You can also get to the Atlantic from them.

Fun fact: it's possible to circumnavigate the eastern half of the US via the Great Lakes and the Mississippi River.

[–] [email protected] 15 points 5 months ago (1 children)

That never occurred to me before and now I want to do it.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 5 months ago (3 children)

Me too, although politics is making me more interested in sailing away from the US at the moment.

Anyway, https://www.greatloop.org/

I'm also looking into getting out, but I'd still love to do that. Very cool.

You can set off from Canada and still do that loop (just saying...)

[–] [email protected] 1 points 5 months ago

You can, but you're still spending the vast majority of your time in US jurisdiction (which is bad if it turns into a fascist dictatorship and you're trying to flee...).

Oo, oo, lemme drop this lil tidbit in too,

https://www.ic.org/directory/a-watership-down/

Current Focus: Ohio River (Cincinnati to Louisville) to Canada to Montreal (Quebec) to Nova Scotia to Maine] [Secondarily any of the great lakes or the ohio river; Mississippi still a possible]

A water-based, sustainable effort, with a view to a better quality of life. (tentative statement) disclaimer: almost all of this is planned; the only actuals are a couple of sailboats on the ohio river; there are no requirements for supporting one another

I KNEW it!!!?!

[–] [email protected] 11 points 5 months ago (1 children)

The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
Of the big lake they call Gitche Gumee...

This is the song of my people.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 5 months ago

As soon as that first verse comes in, every Canadian automatically leans back and nods their had in satisfaction. It's a genetic thing (we inject DNA therapy into immigrants at the border for those not born here)

I've been on a military sub in Michigan before: https://silversidesmuseum.org/

[–] [email protected] 5 points 5 months ago

Give it a couple years.

St Lawrence River and Erie canal, though I'm not sure how functional that one is.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 5 months ago (1 children)

They wanted to use "3M" but it turns out that one's already taken by a company that makes more red tape than all politicians alive or dead combined.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 5 months ago

And the Navy has already abandoned the 3M program, especially for anyone stationed near China

[–] [email protected] 8 points 5 months ago

Hell yeah, love to see this stuff :)
