I've seen Scarlett do comedy before so I knew she's good at it even though it's not her main thing, but I never knew she could be THIS good! Absolute masterclass 😂❤️

She's a damn good actress who was wasted by Marvel.

[-] [email protected] 21 points 4 months ago

I'm a big MCU fan and I totally agree.

[-] [email protected] 12 points 4 months ago

I mean, she may have deserved more focus, but she did absolutely help elevate the story when given the chance. Hell, even that one line in Infinity War, "She's not alone." I remember getting the chills from it.

My one complaint about her death was that she didn't even mention or think of Bruce. I would have loved to have had that closure on their relationship, like her telling Clint "tell Bruce I love him" or something. I found their love story so heartbreaking and I wish I had gotten closure on it

Yes, totally agree, and I had the same thought.

Marvel movies are a bit of a guilty pleasure of mine, so I wouldn't necessarily say wasted, but I agree 100% on her acting chops!

People like to shit on what's popular so they shit on Marvel. If you had told me as a child that we'd get like 20 super hero movies that were all decent, that leads into a giant Avengers/marvel teamup against Thanos, I would have shit myself. And the whole thing turned out great. Better than star wars did originally and with the sequels. But since it's popular and run by Disney, people will shit all over it

No one will ever convince me that the universe and super-budget tv season they put together isn't a work of art.

[-] dream_weasel 2 points 4 months ago

Hard agree. Star wars ended up being total trash. Somehow avengers movies (while steadily decreasing in quality over time) are generally decent.

Ever see the marble columns sketch? She kills it.

Acting like you can't act is difficult. This is spot on.

[-] [email protected] 2 points 4 months ago

I hadn't, thanks! 😄

[-] [email protected] 10 points 4 months ago

I watched the whole thing earlier not realizing it was even her. The voice is completely different.

Thanks, I was unsuccessfully looking for that!

Jesus, Scarlett nailed all the creepy Karen energy so well.

I laughed way too hard when Scarlett called out the incredibly weird pivot to sex trafficking that wasn't routed in reality.

It's crazy how much Republicans love to talk about saving children, protecting kids from predators, but fuck immigrants, young moms, school children, brown people. Oh and let's ignore the religious pedos and the many many Republican pedos who still have a job.

George Carlin intensifies

The GOP is cool with helping kids as long as 1) they're still in the womb, or 2) guns weren't involved 😁

[-] [email protected] 41 points 4 months ago

That was actually a pretty spot on impersonation.

[-] Varyk 28 points 4 months ago

Haha, that was definitely worth watching. Thank you!

[-] [email protected] 14 points 4 months ago

I haven't found SNL that funny lately but this one made me laugh out loud. Perfect impersonation!

[-] [email protected] 18 points 4 months ago

Is it me, or has she never been hotter? Is that weird?

Brunette ScarJo >>> Blonde ScarJo

“My tea is ready,” she said ominously, clanking her spoon around in a teacup before the camera cut to Kenan Thompson with tears streaming down his face.

I didn't get this reference, could someone explain it?

That's a clever reference because she really did give off that energy.

[-] [email protected] 17 points 4 months ago

I was totally prepared for Chloe Fineman to do this but Scarlett was a nice surprise. Hilarious!

This is the best summary I could come up with:

Saturday Night Live‘s cold open was indeed what many had asked for: a biting parody of Alabama Sen. Katie Britt‘s cringey rebuttal to President Joe Biden‘s State of the Union address Thursday.

SNL‘s Britt, played by Scarlett Johansson, told viewers from the start that for the next few minutes, she would be “auditioning for the part of scary mom” and “performing an original monologue called ‘This Country Is Hell.

I am also selling these gorgeous bejeweled cross necklaces for QVC,” she went on, now portraying a host on the shopping network channel.

“My tea is ready,” she said ominously, clanking her spoon around in a teacup before the camera cut to Kenan Thompson with tears streaming down his face.

Lastly, Johansson’s character hinted at the lack of future political success that seems to have befallen those who have delivered State of the Union rebuttals.

Britt’s melodramatic response has not only been mocked online and on television, but GOP operatives, conservative Capitol Hill staffers and lawyers, and senior members of Donald Trump‘s 2024 campaign admitted to Rolling Stone how much of a letdown it was.
