Israeli forces swept into the Palestinians' administrative capital of Ramallah in the occupied West Bank overnight, killing a 16-year-old in a refugee camp during their biggest raid into the city in years, Palestinian sources said on Monday.

Witnesses in Ramallah said Israeli forces had driven dozens of military vehicles into the city, which is the headquarters of the Palestinian Authority led by President Mahmoud Abbas.

The Palestinian health ministry said Israeli forces shot and killed 16-year-old Mustafa Abu Shalbak while raiding Am'ari refugee camp.

The Palestinian news agency WAFA said confrontations broke out as Israeli forces stormed the camp, "during which live bullets were fired at Palestinian youths", wounding Abu Shalbak in the neck and chest.

But people are still spamming articles about how Israel has "basically provisionally essentially" signed a ceasefire?!

It's almost like you can't trust what far right genocidal authoritarians say....

But surely Biden would have figured that out by now...

"We're trying very, very," shoots starving child "very hard to come to a peaceful conclusion."

Check out the post right under this one on the main NEWS page, where Israel agreed to a cease fire in Gaza ... then attacks Ramallah in the West Bank instead so, you know, nobody can be legitimately pissed off about it 'cause Netanyahu didn't break any rules.

Genociders gotta genocide no matter what.

where Israel agreed to a cease fire in Gaza

They didn't agree to it tho...

It's US officials saying Israel is willing to negotiate. Israel isn't even saying that, which is why they're not sending people to negotiations

[–] [email protected] 0 points 10 months ago (2 children)

If Netanyahu hadn't tentatively agreed to it, why wouldn't he still be bombing the shit out of southern Gaza instead of of heading over to the West Bank?

Because he's a sneaky, murderous asshole who probably figured since the tentative agreement was for Gazan Palestinians alone, he'd be adhering to the letter of the "law" by murdering West Bank Palestinians instead.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 10 months ago

If Netanyahu hadn’t tentatively agreed to it,

He hasn't even done that...

Every article headline you see that makes it sound like he did, the article (really subtitle most of the time) clarifies that no Israeli official said it. They're all rumors from unsourced "US officials".

Who are just saying it because Biden keeps saying it.

It's either propaganda or the Biden admin is just that disengaged from reality that they're walking away honestly believing it.

Both are terrible

[–] [email protected] 0 points 10 months ago

I mean is he not bombing the shit out of Southern (and Northern) Gaza?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 10 months ago

Israel didn't even show up to the ceasefire talks in Cairo yesterday. Biden is doing absolutely nothing to pressure Netanyahu.

the articles i saw posted sayd israel accepted it, but hamas didn't yet agree, so the ceasefire is not in effect yet

[–] [email protected] 5 points 10 months ago (2 children)

It doesn't matter if Hamas didn't agree to it yet because Ramallah is in the West Bank, not Gaza. So Netanyahu is just being a sneaky, murdering asshole.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 10 months ago

That said- his stupid excuses for going into the West Bank have been to root out Hamas there, which he won't be able to do if this ceasefire actually happens.

[–] OnlyTakesLs 0 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Wait, so you expect a ceasefire when only one agreed to it?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

Where did I say that?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 10 months ago

I'd love to see one of those...

I've seen a lot of headlines saying they are. Then usually the sub title immediately clarifies that it's just an anonymous official saying Israel has "agreed to negotiate" which is more than what Israel will even say.

If they agreed to a proposed ceasefire, they'd sign it.

Instead they say "we need to work out the details" which means they do not agree with the proposal.

example right above this one in my global feed: https://lemmy.world/post/12710788

[–] [email protected] 4 points 10 months ago

That's not Israel agreeing to it...

You gotta read more than just the headline bub
