I dunno, I liked seeing HBomberGuy absolutely ruin James Somerton over plagiarism.

Helps that HBomberGuy hasn't posted endless rounds of response videos. That's how you milk the drama for views.
Conversely, I'm getting a little tired of Karl Jobst mostly becoming a drama channel against fraudsters like Billy Mitchell or the Open Hand Charity. Those guys do deserve it, but it's sucking oxygen away from Jobst's usual commentary on speed running techniques. He's also working outside his specialty--these are American cases, and he's a lawyer under Australian law--and not all his claims carry weight.
I haven't watched his videos in a while but isn't he being sued by Billy Mitchell? I assumed his videos were more out of spite than actually chasing drama.
He was sued by Billy, yes, but the charity case is unrelated.
Yes he is
Thank you so much for this post, I thought I was the only one. The quality of his content has really gone down as a result of him fixating on the drama. I thought his deep dive into rating retro games was good, but he is becoming full of himself. Needs to step back and reevaluate what the channel used to be about. But I'm guessing the drama makes him more money. He wouldn't be the first youtuber to "go bad" because of the algorithm.
YouTube recommended me a Jobst video the other day, and I thought "I've already seen his Billy Mitchell video, haven't I?" And I had. What I hadn't seen were the fifteen other videos he's made about him. As I write this comment, his latest video about Billy Mitchell was uploaded 17 hours ago.
I don't think he's a lawyer.
I could have sworn he said he had a legal degree in his home country of Australia, but I can't find any evidence of it now.
No, he’s not
Doesn't help the fact that his (Karl Jobst) latest video is of course AGAIN about Billy Mitchell: "I Just Exposed Billy Mitchell's DUMBEST LIE EVER!" I think I'm starting to see a bit of a patern here...
MoistCritikal pumps out a 12 minute video of him sitting in a chair going, “The recent YouTube drama with xXxBlorpkin and Tglof has gone too far” and generates millions of views.
I’m probably just jealous I can’t upload a stream of consciousness down a camera and call it day while making hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Where did I go wrong in life?
That's because it's Charlie, he's entertaining enough he could commentate paint drying and it'd be the best video I've seen all day lol
I usually don't either, but when a YouTuber threatens the life of another YouTuber (in this case SSSniperwolf doxxing Jacksfilms), that's something that really makes me mad.
Jocat as well. Poor guy got bullied off the internet.
And then there's Illumigaughtii who straight up financially abused several people and stole their belongings.
Like most of the recent "Drama" has been some pretty serious shit.
wait, what?
Considering how lucrative drama content is, to the point where people orchestrate drama, I guess a lot of people care.
It’s basically a set of IRL crossover episodes. I’m assuming in at least some cases it’s manufactured for the views.
Jugglefruit and Krombusnombus aren’t actually mortal enemies because one said the others breath smelt like cat food and my attention is just being used for ad revenue that’s split between the two?!
Absolutely disagree. I didn’t know who Linus Tech Tips were till ’23 and then I was like 🎥🍿
I found out who ProJared was on May 9th, 2019.
Isn't the current big drama someone literally doxxing another Youtuber and sending threats to their family alongside nasty parcels+visits?
I think you're talking about SSSniperWolf and JacksFilms. It's particularly interesting because it's not just two people arguing. SSSniperWolf very clearly violated YouTube TOS as well as possibly California law. YouTube's response essentially protected her because she's YouTube royalty, pulling in 1 million+ views on all her videos, which are all her "reacting" to tiktok videos.
It's beyond "drama". It's a giant tech/media company playing favourites with creators who break not only TOS, but copyright law, and US law. It shows they'll look the other way over any infraction so long as you make them enough money.
Exactly. Calling it "Drama" is an understatement. Though I was also partially referencing Illumigaughtii who is known for abusing her employees and actually fucking other people over financially
People love to dismiss Youtuber serious controversies as "Petty drama" but then usually it's stuff like SSSW and Illumigaughtii which is very much serious shit.
Thank you for saying it! I thought it was just me lol
I think it wouldn't annoy me so much if I knew who any of them were. Seeing something about Globglopr having beef with Cronchstan just makes me think I've had a stroke.
For other possible curious readers, the individuals that are being reference don't exist. I had to check just for the fun of it.
You aren't alone, my brother.
Usually, yeah. But when Coffeezilla's involved, I'm here for it.
The last video I saw related to coffeezilla was about some crypto scammer.
I didn’t really think that was drama, more just like an exposé.
If he is involved in a fight with blippyblop the commentator though over calling his mum a hoe, no thanks.
I'd probably care if I knew who most of the top youtubers are but that is not my case.
Tbh sometimes I get surprised about who gets in drama (especially childhood YouTubers), but even then I just don't want to know what they did.
I love it when people go out of their way to insist they don't care about something. "I don't care about politics" is the absolute gold standard, but this is pretty good too.
Same as people who disagree on Lemmy.
I disagree vehemently with your take on this.
I disagree with your disagreement.
Not only do I disagree with both of you, but I don't even care enough to make a meme about it.
I can not believe that you really disagree with both of us, insert ad hominem attack.
CEO drama or higher.
People clearly do care, that's why they manufacture drama. It helps drive engagement and views.
Of course, it's hard not to look down on people who develop parasocial relationships with youtube personalities.
But some people are very lonely. So if anything we should be critical of the youtuber who knowingly cultivate unhealthy fanbases and profit off their misery.
I don’t look down on them per se.
Id just appreciate if they could keep their interests within the bubble of those respective communities.
I.e. not invoking the spippycoo drama in comparison to actual news.
