Have to APs a U6E and U7Pro

Running self hosted unifi network controller.

The APs adopt fine in DHCP, but when I use MAC address reservation to assign IP addresses to them, they instantly drop to adoption failed. Nothing (telnet, advanced adoption nor reset) will bring them back. Even removing the reservation has no affect until I reserve the IP address with a false MAC address and allow them to take a new IP from DHCP again.

Anyone have any idea whats going on? On latest version of firmware and unifi network controller. Had no issues with existing access points until now and nothing is using the IP addresses, I even changed the dhcp pool to ensure that was the case. Baffled to be honest.

I’m using a 2.5g dumb switch and ubiquity POE injectors and brand new network cables. Eveything is stable and working fine, until I try assigning a static ip using address reservation.

Cheers

Moved into a house year and a half ago that has three uap ac pros, one on each level.

I have ran into an issue with my router's wifi signal, and I am looking to get these aps setup off of my router. They are all power with poe adapters, have lights on and look to be in working order.

Would all I need to do is download and install unifi installer to a computer connected by ethernet, and then I should be able to see the ap devices and configure them to be extensions of my router?

Would there need to be anything else I would need to do?

Thanks

I've tried to look it up on the website but there's no info. I'm assuming all the prices are in CAD? Can anyone confirm? Why would Ubiquiti not specify this?

The title pretty much sums it up, but I am unable to adopt any of the 3 expresses that I purchased as access points. I have the following setup:

uxg-lite -> lite-8-poe-> expresses & other devices (one of which is hosting the network application in docker).

Has anyone had any lucky in getting this to work? This is very frustrating, as there is nothing on the product page that suggests this configuration does not work with a self-hosted controller. I am past my return window (they were a christmas gift purchased on release day), and feel like I’ve been misled.

I've seen a couple of posts about the U6 series of access points dying and I just had one of my U6-lites give up the ghost. I can tell from the switch that it's still getting power, but the AP shows no sign of life at all.

Anyone have experience with this sort of thing? Any ideas if I can bring this unit back to life?

Thanks!

Hi all,

I need help setting up my network. Current network is: Fritzbox 7530 > USW Lite 8 POE

  • CKG2
  • AC LR
  • AC LR
  • USW Flex Mini

I want to throw the Fritzbox and replace it with the express because of the built-in wifi6. I also add a new wifi6 AP.

Question is, will I be able to use the UX as router and keep using the CKG2 as controller? Will it be the same as with and UDR? After this upgrade I am going for the security camera’s which the UX wont support.

I do not need a $1,299 switch!

--- Dude, that's like 24 10 GbE ports!

I do not need a $1,299 switch!

--- You can use 6 out of the 24...so that's like 18 SPARE 10 GbE ports!

I do not need a $1,299 switch!

--- It has 2 25G SFP28 ports...you will find a use for them eventually!

I do not need a $1,299 switch!

--- It's DC power backup-ready...you can buy one of those now!

I do not need a $1,299 switch!

--- It's so shiney...it will match the other UniFi stuff in your rack!

I do not need a $1,299 switch!

--- Cable management will be a breeze if you buy the 24-Port Blank Keystone Patch Panel!

I do not need a $1,299 switch!

--- It has a cool LCD touch screen!

If it only had Etherlighting I would buy it, everything is better with LEDs...and Etherlighting would make it worth $1,299!

--- Bruh

Ok, so I’m not a total moron when it comes to technology, but I’m nowhere near as fluent as I was in my early 20’s. I picked up a a UniFi Express to replace my Netgear router and to dip my toe into the Ubiquiti ecosystem with the hopes of eventually going deeper.

I got the UniFi app, I plugged in the Express to power via usb c, the app finds it almost immediately, it goes through it’s initialization and all that fun stuff, name the Express, pick a name for my wifi network and make a password. The next step is to connect to the modem. I plug in the Ethernet to the appropriate ports and then wait. And wait. And then get told that it can’t connect to the internet and to contact my ISP.

I’ve never once had to deal with the hell of Spectrum customer service for something as simple as replacing a router. I plugged the Netgear router back in and zero issues connecting to the internet. Went through the Express’ setup again, same steps, same Ethernet cable that works with the previous modem. Again, won’t connect to the internet.

What gives? Is there an easy fix that I can avoid Spectrum customer service? Please, for the love of all that is good in the world, I don’t want to deal with Spectrum customer service.

I've been trying to submit a Unifi Technical support ticket through here:

For the past week I've been getting the same error

This is regarding a Store Order Support. Is there another way of contacting that department? Or do I have to wait until this issue is fixed, which there isn't a way of letting them know since their ticket system is not working...

Thanks for the help guys.

Just setup my new Unifi PDU yesterday and I've been getting weird readings on ports that have nothing plugged in, even when i turn off the port:

Anyone know whats going on, is this a defective unit?

Several OFF ports reporting power readings, the Pi outlet which is ON, is not showing any power. What the hell is going on!

I was told a UVC-G4 doorbell does not require a Ubiquiti Switch or NVR to install. Only the app. Is this true? Any help on how to install the UVC-G4 on the app ? thanks In advance.

Or any Ubiquiti access point for that matter, this is my first time setting up an AP, so I'm not sure if it's a problem with the U7 or just select Ubiquiti APs. I just get Error Code 0x83200112.

Apparently it has issues connecting to modern iPhone hotspots too. Someone over in this thread suggested it was because (the iPhone at least) reports a NAT type 3, but having hooked my PS5 up to the AP directly, it reports it's NAT 2.

I tired setting up the 5 band SSID as it's own thing, and even disabled the security, but still no dice.

I have an EdgeRouter. One of my firewall rules limits a device to a specific IP.

The problem is, this IP changes often. So I had to write a script that checks the domain and updates the IP in the firewall rule accordingly.

I could avoid this step if I could just add the domain to the firewall rule directly, but it only accepts IPs.

Can UniFi routers firewalls accept domains or does it also only accept IPs? Specifically looking at the UDM-Pro.

I know someone will suggest to just use something like a pi-hole, but a pi-hole isn't a firewall.

Is it possible to configure the MAC address on the UXG-Lite? My fiber provider only allows access to their network based on MAC address. I want to replace my current USG, and it'd be nice if I could do it without having to worry with working with the provider to sync MAC addresses. I'd also like to keep the old USG as a backup, and that'd be another reason to be able to clone it's MAC. I could replace one with the other on a failure without working with the provider. Thanks for any info.

After deliberating for a while I decided on a Ubiquiti setup for my new home and purchased a Unifi Express, Unifi U6 Mesh, and a Lite 8 POE switch. I set everything up and everything worked flawlessly for about 15 minutes until I attempted plugging in another Cat6 cable into one of the POE ports on the Lite 8 switch and it immediately died. I can no longer get it to even power on despite holding down the reset button several times.

I had my RMA request approved but for some reason they expect me to pay out of pocket to ship the switch back to them, Meanwhile half of my brand new Ubiquiti network is unusable :(

I'm debating just asking for a refund for the switch and purchasing a 3rd party POE switch elsewhere but will that be compatible with the rest of the Ubiquiti setup? I'm not trying to do anything fancy, I just want to be able to power the U6 Mesh and maybe later some other devices with POE. Would this Netgear Unmanaged switch work for me?

Looking for anyone and insight into Unifi’s built in Paid Guest Network system.

Has anyone used this successfully?

Pro’s? Con’s? Issues? Concerns?

Looking into unifi’s system versus other major competitors.

Looking into rolling out 40+ networks across the states that use paid guest WiFi.

Hi,

I operate one U6+ and one UAP-AC-Pro on a USW-24-PoE. Both only operate at FE speeds. The switch gives the warning: "Poor Ethernet Link Speed". I checked the cables, they can operate at GbE Speeds. Also checked the ports, they can operate at GbE speeds without PoE. At no point could either AP operate at GbE speeds.

The Cables are patched by me with a female connector from my patchpanel going to a male connector that is connected to the wall. From there it goes to another wallbox and then with a small patchcable to the AP.

Ubiquiti Support is currently and for the last two days not available for me.

I dont know if the female to male cable might be the problem or if my switch doesnt want to supply PoE and GbE together.

I would appreciate every help. Thank you very much.

I’ve inherited an undocumented network with a ubiquiti mesh setup. We had one switch that was getting its internet off of an older AP that has died, I’m trying to set up either a U6 Enterprise or an AC mesh pro.

I don’t understand how this switch was pulling internet from the AP in the first place, it seems that connecting the AP’s poe port to the switch does not send any data back to the switch. I’m not sure how I can manage to get the AP providing internet through Ethernet, if anyone has any advice it would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,

i ordered a switch last week which was delivered on the weekend. I opened it and the front face of the switch was covered in scratches.

I opened up a support request and was told to RMA it.

I then opened up an RMA, and ubiquiti is now expecting me to pay for return shipping for a damaged item they sent me.

This cannot be right. They sent me a damaged item, why am I being charged more to fix their problem?

There is no way to respond to the RMA in their system, only to mark is as sent.

Has anyone else experienced this kind of issue?

I've ordered thousands of dollars of stuff from Ubiquiti and never had a problem before, this is quite the sour experience.

EDIT: Ubiquiti reached out to me within 30 mins of this post to help assist and fix this. Pretty impressive.

Hey everyone! Looking for some advice on a router to purchase in regards to my current setup (for a single home). Basically I have a AT&T gateway that I want to do passthrough to another router as I really am not happy with the services it offers.

Currently I have: 2x Unifi APs

1x Unifi CloudGen2

5x Unifi cameras

1x Unifi Doorbell

Everything works really well and I've grown to like Ubiquiti. So the natural next step was to purchase a router from them. Two products stuck out to me:

  • Dream Router
  • Express
  • Or if you have another recommendation (Ubiquiti or totally separate), please share it!

Please note I think the fact that I already have a CloudKeyGen2 makes the Dream Router overkill but open to feedback. TIA!

Two of my users (out of 120 or so) let me know that they received a warning from Google that the router/modem may be compromised and part of the Meris DDoS botnet, the page includes my Gateway's IP address. There's a "I'm not a robot" reCAPTCHA and checking the box lets the user to continue on with their searches. I'm sure my Gateway has a strong password.

I've looked around Google and haven't been able to find any information on this. Anyone talking about botnets end up with no answers or solutions. I've done some searching on Unifi's site as well.

Have any of you run into this?
