A place for enthusiasts of sticks of all shapes and sizes. We all love a good stick! Is it a walking stick? Light Saber? Gun? Looks brown and sticky? You decide!

Feel free to post sticks to rate, sticks that look like things, memes about sticks, long winded rants about the superiority of birch sticks over oak, anything stick related! Natural sticks are preferred, but modification and ornamentation is also fine.

A lightsaber stick or sword stick would also be an acceptable choice

Disclaimer: only when fresh and not store-bought, only when untouched by all other buns, and only when smaller than 1" diameter. Otherwise they are only to be ignored until the hooman gives up and tosses them out.

Meme post on Lemmy a few weeks back basically asked "what's with men and sticks?"

Many enthusiastic comments and posts followed, showing off some actually quite impressive sticks.

Now there's a whole stick enthusiasts community @stick and I find myself keeping an eye out for good ones whenever I'm outside just in case.

This sort of thing is why the internet is actually great.

One of my favorite creators made a little vlog [3:33] about finding herself a stick on a gloomy day.

I just found it today, and thought it might delight this comm.

Hope you enjoy.

Hello my fellow Stick Enthusiasts!

Now that you have found your stick (or rather, your stick found YOU), you may be asking yourself, “What do I do with this sweet stick?”

ANSWER: Keep it forever.

Here is my sweet piece of life lumber. Probably mulberry, found after an overgrown field was mowed down just days prior. I scraped off the outer layer of bark, revealing that nice inner brown layer. Shallow cuts through the brown inner back provide this masterpiece with its characteristic look. Tapering downward from it’s perfect hand hold just under it’s bulb, it feels perfect to me, even after 30 years together. A thin layer of spar urethane every 10 years will keep this beauty with me until the very end. And when that time comes, it will go in the box with me.

STICK STATS: 59.5” long, 1.75” bulb, .75” at tip. Strong, with just the right amount of flex and balance. Weight: perfect.

I found this on a walk today. It was leaning up against a very tall hedge bush. The bottom is flat and angled so I assume somebody cut it off and then just left it there. I cut off and then sanded down all the little rough spiky parts that hurt my hands. I think I'm going to use it to clean my gutters.

I've had this duck wand for years. So far, I can't control any ducks with it, but it's a very fine example of a stick.
