quite frankly because I have hardly ever seen governments regulating technology having good results; we should mostly be allowed to experiment with technology without governments telling us how to do it, this is how we make human progress

The guy who wrote https://www.eff.org/cyberspace-independence didn't know about large language models yet but his thoughts apply to them too tbh.

You hope that will be the legal standard? I fear it.

When I was 9 or 10 I decided I wanted to dress up as a character from a show I was watching at the time for carnival.

Together with my mom I performed a web search in order to find images of that character.

We found a website specializing in that show and after a while I found out it had a forum attached to it. My mom allowed me to register there and I started to participate in it.

Most of my social contacts during my teen years were in online communities I found indirectly through that forum.

I would love it because there are subreddits I use a lot on reddit that don't have an active equivalent on lemmy at all.

I was until now unaware that there were places where (non-folded) bikes were allowed on buses. On trams and trains sure, but buses have such limited space that I can't imagine a bike being transported in them.

The FSF isn't exactly what you think of when you hear the words "large tech company"… but you could argue that in some ways it is one couldn't you… 😁😛

This is hardly programmer humor… there is probably an infinite amount of wrong responses by LLMs, which is not surprising at all.

What do beans have to do with JavaScript? I am familiar with Spring beans but that is Java, not JS.
