What do you mean he never did anything? He was a key reason for that amendment. Also his position on it wasn't so static, just look at what Fredrick Douglass had to say about him. Lincoln was a key catalyst for helping to move the country forward on slavery and to say otherwise really feels like postwar Confederate speak. He wasn't perfect, but I'd struggle to think of anyone else I'd take over him as president at that time.

FYI this isn't a term Americans know. I was super confused when I moved to the UK and kept hearing it mostly because people being made redundant weren't technically 'being made redundant', if anything they were already made redundant (or just no longer needed for some other reason, or no longer affordable) and were now suffering the consequences. Idk, weird phrase, I'm going to go look up the etymology now. To be fair I suppose 'laid off' is pretty weird too
I've had it happen to friends and I'm pretty sure it happened to me once but at least in my case I think I was collateral damage. That said, without really knowing the strategies of that sort of thing hitting the wrong target seems like something that would happen fairly often if you don't care about other people which, presumably, you don't.
The solution I've heard is you're able to go to the elections office after mailing your ballot and void the mailed one and vote in person. Depending on the level of control/oversight may be not realistic for everyone, but again, at that point I'm more concerned about the human than the vote and were talking a whole other problem to solve.
I wonder if there's an opening there to claim discrimination on the basis of sex.
Bring back the ccc. Give people purpose and support
It's crazy to me how cheap it is. Like, they could double the taxes and it would still feel incredibly affordable when compared to alcohol.
Good news everyone, article says nose only - just need to commit to full time mouth breathing
So I've gotten that impression but admit I haven't been following closely. Could you give like a tldr top 5 or something? Hard to Google that kind of thing
There's something to be said here about how normal it is for people to be renting later and later in life. I totally get what you're saying but it's sad that it's true.
Yeah I'm usually more interested in nutrients than calories. Otherwise I'd just have a Guinness for lunch
This one doesn't make any sense to me. Of course all of our electricity imports come from Canada, I suspect the other 15% is mexico cause I don't know who else we even can import from. That said, probably most of these 'imports' are more like trades in that sometimes the nearest grid is across the border. I don't think Canada is sending bulk power to the US consistently (maybe on certain days depending on hydro and renewables) and doubt a tarriff here would be nearly as big an impact as something like steel. I could be wrong though
