someone once shook a vending machine vigorously for me when my snack was stuck. it was very stressful to watch

the results of the poll on this post show that modded has won 14-12. we will still ensure that mods are not resource intensive so that our users with low spec computers are able to enjoy the server too! the owner is working with another user with experience with this stuff to make a custom modpack. will update with a post asap! in the meantime, if you havent dm'd me already and want to play, send me a dm w ur MC IGN and ill forward it to the owner. bridget

a lot of stuff at my work uses a custom OS built in the 90s

EDIT: im creating a new post just for voting bc i did not have the proper information to share with you in order to cast an informed vote, now i know more abt the modpack

a user here was kind enough to host a server for all of hexbear (and lemmygrad too)! ill make an update post when the server is up, but in the meantime, dm me with your MC username bc the server will be using an allow-list. i will be vetting accts to ensure no wreckers join (sorry new users and lurkers, maybe we can figure out an alternate vetting process for you). ill be the middlewoman for the allow-list for optimum opsec, so the server owner will remain anonymous and i won’t share the association between HB usernames/MC username with the owner.

also, if ur interested, you can vote in the comments for whether the server should be vanilla+ (server-side mods only) or modded (both client- and server-side mods)

an-tifa for vanilla+

bridget for modded

voting will end in 3 days

EDIT: for those asking, yes it will be pirate friendly, and the modpack will be lightweight and “should run on a potato” according to the server owner

so i just started hrt and im doing diy E monotherapy injections. im abt to do my 5th weekly injection. im planning on lowering my dosage bc i think i started too high. i was aiming to suppress my T fast but i think it happened already bc my cum is clear and watery and i ejaculate a small volume. my first week i was planning on doing estradiol enantate 11 mg every 14 days, but i didn’t like the huge difference between peak and trough that it would cause so i have been doing 5 mg weekly but that should put me around 300 pg/mL which i dont think is uncommon for monotherapy but it’s working so well i think a lower dose would be better.

i was considering doing 2 mg weekly enantate injections plus 2 mg daily oral E bc ur liver turns some estradiol into estrone and there’s some evidence that E1 helps feminize. is this a reasonable regimen? would planned parenthood prescribe me oral E as well as a testosterone cream/gel to prevent penis atrophy and help with performance ive been struggling since starting hrt? planned parenthood is prob my best option in my area. would they prescribe me 6 months of E if i act like im doing two 2 mg daily instead of one? like they prescribe for 90 days but it will last me 180

been doing estradiol injections for 2.5 weeks now, and there are noticeable changes already! unfortunately theyre mostly annoying lol. my nipples are super sensitive and my shirts are irritating them. also the meat of my breast (what little exists rn) is a bit tender. cant wait to get growth! gotta remember to take my multivitamin to keep my B12 and folic acid intake high

my dick dont work. it does actually but its harder to get it up :( i heard that continues until you add progesterone so im going to start P as soon as i get my first blood tests in a couple months. if anyone has good DIY source for prog powder pls DM me. its nice that i dont get random erections anymore tho

also my ejaculate is so thin and low volume. i thought it would take longer for sperm production to stop but ig thats good right?

i decided to change from enantate injection every two weeks to weekly. i did my first shot at 11 mg, but the last two were 5 mg. i feel good. it feels good to be working towards becoming myself

how do you tell someone is a carnist? they defend animal cruelty

i think the chances of a civil war are very low. there will probably be a lot of protests, but there have been protests from the left and the right under macron so shrug-outta-hecks

also New Popular Front has a decent chance of getting a plurality. unfortunately, Ensemble is more likely to work with National Rally and keep pushing France right, but that might improve Pop Front's popularity

nothings happened yet wtf! where’s my instantaneous magical girl transformation?

seriously tho, i expected some mental change based on how ppl describe the euphoria of being on E, but ig that takes time just like the physical changes.

i can wait tho, i was so indescribably happy last night after injecting. i was tearing up and cuddling with my gf and had amazing sleep. it feels like a new chapter of my life that im more optimistic and joyful for than ive ever been! been waiting almost two years for this moment 🥹

thank you hexbear! i dont know how much longer it would have taken for me to discover my transness if i wasn’t a part of the site with the best trans community on the internet!

and im moving to a medium sized city in a month so ill be in a good place to transition compared to the rural area where i live

i am DIY and made four vials a couple weeks ago. then yesterday i sterilized them at 130C for 30 minutes, pretty easy in oil if you have a digital probe thermometer (i think ppl call them candy thermometers).

my regimen is 11 mg estradiol enanthate stabbed into my butt every 14 days. im planning on getting a blood test in 3 months and adjusting. p sure ill have to up the dose bc im 6’ and 200 lbs. prob gonna try to add progesterone in 6 months to a year even tho the studies on that haven’t been too promising in it helping transfems. prog can actually be pretty cheap if you DIY and mix a powder with coconut/cocoa oil and take it rectally.

what they smoking tho?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago)

bad article written by inept radlib PMC karen. this reads like it could have been written by any short-fused, airheaded american who yells at the self-checkout attendant bc they dont understand technology. they blame the machine or the employees for something 90%+ of the customers are able to figure out. this vocal minority of abusive customers should be shot and their small businesses should be redistributed to their employees who also suffer their entitled tantrums

the real reason this article was written is this line:

retailers utilising self-checkout technology have loss rates more than twice the industry average

its easier to steal when using these machines. and even tho retailers are probably saving money by hiring less employees despite increased shrinkage, they hate that people are getting stuff for free. they hate that app slaves and other downtrodden workers can get their ketchup for free instead of working 15 minutes to be able to afford sugared tomato paste.

these machines are easy to use. nobody but the most inept (who are also wealthy and have a sociopathic sense of entitlement) complain abt this. and dont try to claim its harder for ppl with disabilities, bc its not. its easier for ppl w disabilities bc there are less ppl in the cashier lines

[–] [email protected] 2 points 7 months ago

you get shorter lines with self-checkout. 2 cashiers can checkout 2 people at a time, while 2 self-checkout attendants can oversee a dozen checkout stations

ive been playing this game since 2011 when i was in middle school and im still coming back to it. im sinking hours into it after work while my puppy sleeps next to my desk and my gf is working evening shift. its such a cozy game and reminds me of when i spent all day after school playing MC and other games w friends. its not just nostalgia tho, its just such a cute game that can be whatever the player wants. after all this time, i still derive so much joy from exploring a new world, building a sprawling estate, spelunking, and even just mining. even tho MC doesnt track ur hours played, im certain its my most played game

just wanted to share that i love this game kitty-cri

update to https://hexbear.net/post/1251794

i passed! it was an oral swab test and the last time i smoked was a week before the test. unfortunately, i was talking with some of my coworkers who are already internal employees and the company does a lot of random tests, so ill prob only smoke on the occasional friday from now on (no biggie, i took a 4 month break recently and after coming back to it i only smoke twice a week max). if i wanna smoke more, i just have to wait 8 months to when i start grad school (pending acceptance 🤞 )

thanks for all the reassurance comrades! ive been MIA from hexbear for a couple months but i wanna be active here again meow-hug

i recently applied to go from a contractor to an internal employee and got the official job offer last week. my drug test is tomorrow and the form says its an oral fluids test, which i will pass, but i have this gnawing anxiety that ill go in and they spring a urine test on me (i would not pass this). i have powdered urine from testclear, and ive used it before and passed a urine test two years ago, but this test will be given on the jobsite and will be harder to pull off.

wish me luck that its a saliva test, i really dont want to lose this job :(

vegan bolognese (hexbear.net)
submitted 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago) by [email protected] to c/[email protected]

there are a few elements to this dish other than the lack of meat and dairy that stray from the traditional bolognese: i use garlic and red wine, while bolognese usually has no garlic and white wine. i like garlic too much so that was intentional, but i only had red wine when cooking and its not too drastic of a deviation.

i found this plant based ground sausage at the grocery store for $2.70 for 14 oz!! excited by this price (and on a pasta kick lately) i was inspired to make a bolognese. i would have used plant based ground beef too, but it was like triple the price. i used to make bolognese all the time since lasagna is one of my favorite dishes and its a great pasta sauce. but this is the first time ive made it since going vegan in january of this year. it turned out great!

the plant based sausage i used was 96% lean!! so i had to add my own fat. i used coconut oil in this dish instead of olive oil bc it acts more like animal fat. i cooked 28 oz of vegan sausage in 5 oz coconut oil to bring the “meat” to ~17.5% fat.

ingredients:

  • 28 oz (784 g) 96% lean plant based ground sausage
  • 9 oz (252 g) coconut oil (5 for the “meat”, 4 for the veggies)
  • 225 g onion, finely diced
  • 125 g celery, finely diced
  • 150 g carrot, finely diced
  • 1 bulb garlic, very finely diced
  • 250 g wine
  • 170 g tomato paste
  • 450 g low sodium vegetable broth
  • 350 g oat milk
  • spices: salt, pepper, thyme, basil, sage, marjoram, oregano, rosemary, cumin, paprika

1 .in a stock pot, heat 5 oz coconut oil on medium heat and add the vegan ground sausage. mash the sausage as it cooks to break it up. when it starts to brown, but before it gets crispy, transfer the sausage to a bowl.

2.heat 4 oz coconut oil on medium heat and add carrots a minute before the onions and celery. add garlic a few minutes after that. then add healthy amounts of thyme, rosemary, sage, oregano, and basil. cook until onions get translucent and soft.

3.add wine and deglaze the pot. then add the sausage and tomato paste, and mix while the wine reduces.

4.add the oat milk and a quarter to a third of the total vegetable broth. bring the heat to low

5.allow to simmer for 4 hours, adding the remainder of the broth throughout. if you run out of broth and the bolognese is drying up before 4 hours, add water

6.once the bolognese has simmered at least 4 hours and is sufficiently concentrated, add salt, pepper, cumin, and paprika to taste

“im so magnanimous for having scab nurses pay my mortgage. i swear im losing money on this, im totally not getting my property paid for by someone else”

this asshole thinks “traveling nurses” is a good cause when they mostly exist so hospitals don’t have to pay local nurses as much

made this for dinner last night. my gf found the recipe online but i modified it bc it was written by mayos who only seasoned with salt, pepper, and celery seed. i also substituted diced celery with diced carrots since i like carrots, but my gf told me she would prefer celery so ill prob do half and half next time. i also didn’t add green onions bc i didn’t wanna go to the store, i will prob add them next time

ingredients (this makes a good amount, prob 6 sandwiches worth):

  • 4.5 cup dry chickpeas (45 oz if using canned chickpeas)
  • 2 large carrots
  • 6 cloves garlic
  • 6-8 tbsp vegan mayo or cashew cream (less if using canned chickpeas)
  • 4 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp celery seed
  • 1 tbsp thyme
  • salt
  • pepper
  • cumin
  • turmeric
  • paprika
  1. soak dry chickpeas in lightly salted water for 12-24 hours
  2. you can get the skins off chickpeas after soaking them by rubbing them together w ur hands and decanting the water (skins will stay at the top of the water longer than the chickpeas). there are other methods of deskinning chickpeas, find something that works for you
  3. put chickpeas in pot of salted water, bring to rolling boil then bring heat down to a simmer and cook covered for 2 hours or until the chickpeas are soft. as soon as the water comes to a boil, you will notice foam. this is aquafaba, formed when loose starch mixes w the boiling water. you can just scoop the foam and discard it (or keep it as an egg substitute). once you scoop out all the foam from the first few minutes of boiling, it shouldnt form any more and you won’t have to worry abt boiling over.
  4. drain chickpeas and mash them. i just used my hands to squish them
  5. dice carrots into small chunks (under 1 cm) and finely dice garlic. add to chickpeas
  6. add vegan mayo/cashew cream, lemon juice, celery seed, and thyme. mix well
  7. salt and season to taste

i spread this between slices of toasted bread with onion and tomato slices. makes a great sandwich and is good by itself too!
