So, what do you ride? (self.motorcycles)

Currently riding a 2019 MT-07 - Ice Fluo. However, I'm shopping around for a Africa Twin 2016 due to wanting to do a bit more off-road riding

Ooooh Motorcycles has arrived !
Hope the ATGATT and anti-ATGATT discussions never make a debut here...

I ride a Monster Stealth 821 and for the cruise to the shops I have a Monkey.
Keep the rubber side down buddy and enjoy the MT.

[–] LucyLastic 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

As a very experienced rider I can safely say that ATGATT discussions will always be a mainstay!

[–] Bronzie 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Hehe yeah it probably will, I just got a bit tired of seeing people argue over that instead of actual motorcycles on Reddit.

I wear my gear. What other people do is up to them.

Keep the rubber side down, friend !

As much as the gear wanking was retarded, it's the "I crashed today and here's what you should learn from it" style that I never want to see again. Let's have a stickied 'mechanic advice' thread, and get rid of those posts as well.

Then we can post pics, videos, and all the fun parts of the ride.

Nice! Would love to have a go on a Monster. Owning a Ducati is a box that has to be ticked on the bucketlist (eventually)

[–] Disaster 6 points 1 year ago

A bicycle (OK, A really cool bicycle- Cannondale BB 2013 ) but I'm thinking of moving out of NYC, and a Motorcycle has always been on my bucket list.....

2002 Hyabusa, 2018 BMW R1200GS Rallye, 2021 GasGas 280TXT

[–] LucyLastic 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Upvote for a Gasgas that's not a KTM in red :-)

[–] Speex 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Lol. It’s a beastly little bike. I got no skills to back its ability, but it’s nice for practicing and hitting some trails.

[–] LucyLastic 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yeah, the 280 would be too much for me, and I say that as a Cota 349 owner, lol

[–] Speex 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I’ve never MX or anything technical really. Taken the GS and my old KLR on a few single tracks (easy ones) and some 4x4 trails. Haven’t ridden the 280 much, spending most my time just standing on it in the garage learning balance and practicing non-powered lifting and adjusting the bike using the shocks..

I’m old and out of shape and sit to much. The trials bike has been so awesome and riding for 45 minutes is like spending an entire day working out.

[–] LucyLastic 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yeah, proper hard off road is a full body workout!

[–] Speex 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

For sure. I was not prepared. Dumping the GS a few times on some 4x4 trails is rough but that trials bike is wild.

The upside.. even street riding either of my other two bikes, I can feel the difference that training on the trials has made. It is just flat out making me a better rider.

[–] LucyLastic 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Protip: try and find a Moto Gymkhana group in your area, that's next next level for street riding! I use what I learned there every day

[–] Speex 2 points 1 year ago

I’ve thought about that in the past.

So excited to see this community I loved the reddit one! I just started this season, on a 2005 Honda Shadow, been tempted by a new Triumph Trident 660 though!

[–] Freyr 2 points 1 year ago

Cool! Aren’t we always looking/keeping an eye open for a new bike haha

[–] CrazyEyesEddie 1 points 1 year ago

Man, I had a 2007 Shadow. Loved that bike. Utterly reliable and comfortable. Got her with 44,000 km on her and put 20,000 on her over eighteen months before she moved on. Loved the sound of her turning over and revving. ❤️

I have a 2015 Suzuki GSX-S750, and a 2022 Suzuki Rm-Z450. I also have my dad's old 1973 Suzuki TS400 in storage, but it needs a total overhaul.

Just bought a '23 Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Pro and traded in my '09 Yamaha FZ6. Just waiting on paperwork and delivery, then I'll be packing the miles on the Tiger!

[–] Freyr 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Have you also tried the africa twin (crf1000/crf1100)? I still want to give the Tiger 900 a shot before deciding. Looks like a great bike to be fair.

[–] id10t 2 points 1 year ago

I only test road the Tiger 900. From what I could find on the internet, the Africa Twin seems to be more biased towards off-road riding, while the Tiger is biased to on-road riding. I'm going to be riding on-road maybe 80% of the time, so I was more interested in the Tiger.

I just got a 2022 Tenere 700! I almost got 700 miles within a month of getting her!

2016 (IIRC) Yamaha FZ6R. The guy I bought it from said it was, "The Honda Civic of motorcycles." 👍

2001 CBR929RR here. I also have a Goldwing if I need to rake a nap while I am riding somewhere.

@Freyr

Insta360! No questions asked. The ability to aim the camera around you is a lifesaver

'14 Duke 390, as a one bike garage that commutes it's a practical choice. Cheaper to feed, easy to push around, has enough legs to not die in traffic. It's fun to throw around in corners, but lacks the pull to make me giggle coming out of them.

2006 Suzuki GZ250. My first motorcycle, bought it 3 weeks ago. Ridden 620 miles already!

[–] yabasta 1 points 1 year ago

XJR1300 slightly modified

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I'm on a VFR1200 and a Lance 125. I laugh about somehow boring an extra centimeter into the VFR engine, just so I can put a "my other bike is 10x bigger!" on the scooter.

Personally, I think the VFR is a little too big and heavy to really suit me, but it came with every aftermarket farkle you could want for touring, and it was a steal.

A honda dax, with so much china parts it's no longer a honda, even went and swapped the frame to use a skyteam frame allowing a 5.5 liter tank, '81 dt175mx, looks in good shape but needs so much attention, poor thing. and a 94 yzf750, as a 90's kid you gotta have them three spokes and sexy six pot calipers.

The Dax gets all the mileage, fun comes in small packages :)

'99 Kawasaki VN1500G. The red one, not the green one. With a few mods and bit more chrome added over the years.

But I've been thinking it's time for something new. Probably a project bike. Something completely different - like a very stripped down scrambler.

I’m riding this beast, baby. 🤣

Seriously, for me the Himalayan is a perfect bike. She’ll go literally anywhere, she’ll do highway speeds, but ishes not too fast, and she’s super comfortable. She’s simple enough so if something breaks, my limited mechanical skills can get it going again. And every time I get off her, she makes me look back.

I’m planning to set off to spend a few years riding a Himalayan (maybe one of the new ones) around Europe, though that’s still a little ways away.

Just picked up a 2023 R1250RS sport trim!! Barely got out last few years, first ride last year I got taken out by a yard saler, just getting back on the road now.

[–] LucyLastic 1 points 1 year ago

Well, it depends ... I'm trying to sell some excess bikes at the moment.

Mostly an old Ninja 650 and a little Tango 125. The Tango is the ultimate motorcycle though, don't think I'll ever sell it!
