It is obviously written to invoke some sort of panic or dread.

Definitely wins the Clickbait Title of the Day Award. Come on BBC, you can do better.

Honestly that's a lot of windows users. I have to deal with it at work because we are 'a microsoft shop'. Ughh. I am in a relationship that I cannot get out of, sort of an arranged marriage. Retirement can't come soon enough.

And I read that as 'challenging circumcision.'

Will make all the files in the path owned by you. Be careful if you have more complex permissions on there they will be lost.

This is where ACL permissions would help. He could give his new id ACL permissions to the files and that wouldn't mess with the current permissions.

From the root/beginning subdir: sudo setfacl -R -m u:{replace with your new id}:rwx .

This is what I hear.. Moon-gravity savings time brought to you by Carls Jr.

If Linux cannot help me do them then in what way is it a widely suitable mass operating system as proponents are constantly claiming instead of merely a hobby tool that can do a very limited range of things.

Not sure what you mean by this as I have used tons of linux machines to earn a living for the last 20 years or more. Just because you haven't delved into it doesn't mean it is just a hobby tool. No offense, but if that is your attitude towards this then it might be best to not switch. Things might not always be up to par with what you are used to, but I have seen some pretty cringy things go on in current mainstream windows. Try having an issue with onedrive and asking the team supporting it to help. First step is to reboot. If that doesn't work they uninstall then reinstall. If that doesn't work, well then I guess you are out of luck. When I asked them about anything in the log files, all I got was blanks stares. My point is, windows isn't some pristine environment with no flaws that we should all strive to reach, it has it's own issues.

For instance, your Notepad++ question. I know you don't want to use multiple tools to replace it, but I would venture to guess that the work I do daily, I would probably come up with solutions using vi, sed, and awk on the command line just as fast as you could using the gui. The thing is, I have been doing it for so long it's just second nature to me. Would I want to switch to Notepad++, no.

Maybe come up with some examples of what you do in Notepad++ and people can give you alternative solutions.

Well I am not him, so I can't tell you whether or not he actually "could" have figured it out. The options to figure it out did exist, but he chose not to use them giving it the appearance that he "couldn't". Are you this much fun at parties?

And they are doing the exact same thing with Edge that they were taken to court for over Windows Explorer. They have been and always will be a shit company.

[–] FigMcLargeHuge 2 points 5 days ago

Yup. Got locked out myself since I only play on a linux machine. Yeah rockstar you can fuck right off.

I guess it depends on where you work. This was a large datacenter for a very large health insurance company. They made it a point later that day to remind people that it was a fireable offense to mess with production machines like that on purpose. And evidently the service he disabled was critical enough that it didn't take long for the hammer to come down. There were plenty of ways to find out who owned the machine, he just chose the easiest and got fired on the spot for it.

My distro had an update for cups, so I am guessing people are already on this. Pop Os is what I just loaded on this machine.

This is a crazy good deal, and according to people on their discord, you can transfer the standard license to someone if you already have a licensed copy. You will also get the pdf copies from Paizo on their website.

The Round Rock Library is pretty amazing, and any Texas resident can get a card free and immediately check out books and media. There's no charge to get a card either, you just have to show up in person, which you were going to do anyway if you planned on checking out books.

A major highlight in my opinion is returning the books/movies and watching them run up the conveyor belt and get sorted... Guess I am just a big kid.

So I grepped out all of the nodes from the log files. Here's every node that participated. Just thought it makes a cool list.

Dear Austin,

The Circuit of the Americas has now been open for 10 years. I distinctly recall a number of politicians yakking on and on about how they were going to upgrade the infrastructure around the track when they were begging for money to get the facility built. Well, it's been 10 years and the people living there are still dealing with the same shitty ass roads that were there before, and the same shitty ass traffic. Only I am guessing now, that when an event is in town, they have to hunker down like it's a winter storm. What happened? Is it too much for the place to do what they said they would do, and get some better roads going in and out. And before it gets said, I mean roads that us plebs have to take, not the toll road. It's complete bullshit that it has been a decade and I am still having to deal with the same horrific traffic situation to get to the track. I truly feel sorry for people who have to live near there. Damnit Austin, we can really do better. But I guess the people who can get shit done are just helicoptered in so they don't have a clue, and they are just too busy counting money.

Fig
