The article says it's the father of 3 Marines, one whos a veteran. I don't think the victim himself was a marine. Also there's no proof these guys were even affiliated with the government. Just another fucked up reason to not trust masked men claiming to be part of the government.

My unit was probably a 70-30 split favoring liberals, but it probably varies. My unit was on the more techy, college educated side. Different jobs attract different people

Yeah, the common phrase used by people joining is they joined "to protect your freedom." If it turns out that the actual threat to our freedom is at home, are they still willing to fight?
(I know, the vast majority of enlistees didn't join for this reason. They joined to get out of a bad situation. It's a job with fairly good pay and fantastic benefits.)
Or they are hypocrites because a lot of them join to escape poverty. It's easy for the military, the marines and all those recruit poor people. Sometimes they don't really have much choice anyway.
