I knew a Jimbo. Best friend for like half a decade. Dude def lived up to his name. Hope he's doing well.
William has it better. Will, Willy, Willis, Willie, Buddy, Bud, Bill, Billy, and Liam. Willa, Wilhemenia, Wilma, and Billie for the ladies.
Elizabeth for girls.
Elizabeth, Eliza, Beth, Lizbeth, Liz, Lizzie, Lizard, Lisbian, Lisan Al Gaib, the options are endless.
Beth can be tricky because it can also be short for Bethany.

Funny enough, Margot is part of a family of names that's even bigger than James and Robert.
Margot, Marjorie, Marge, Greta, Rita, Megan, Maggie, Gretchen, Maisie, Molly, Peggy... The uniting feature is that all of these names are considered variants of "Margaret," and this isn't even a comprehensive list.
Margherita and Margarita are my fav. Both delicious.

Actually, James is short for Jean Names
In the UK at least, 'Jay' is also commonly used for James. Not a bad choice. In addition, James Bond would like word about 'Nerdy' !
