The TSA says the list of acceptable IDs is subject to change without notice.

WTF!?

Are you new to the TSA?

It's a joke, and literal security theater. They have never prevented anything serious, ever. They fail 90-95% when DHS test their ability to detect weapons.

Not new, my first encounter with them was many years ago now, when they were new, but I only ever have any interaction with them when visiting the US.

"welcome to costco, i love you"

I’ve seen it work if you can show them a Price Club, Price Costco, and Costco Wholesale card, with the names matching of course. This is know as the 3/4th’s rule, where you show at least 3 out of the 4 known club cards. Google “Costco rule34” for more info. Don’t tell more than one person though, it’s a secret 🤫

The time when it would've seemed to everyone an unacceptable intrusion to make routine demands that travellers show their ID anywhere other than at international borders is still within living memory.

this is a rule made for idiots

OH! OH! I'M SORRY!!! YOU'RE TELLING ME THIS CARD ALLOWS ME TO BUY 48 GALLON JARS OF MAYONAISE, BUT NOT LET ME FLY OUT OF CLEVELAND BY AIRPLANE TO ANYWHERE ELSE??? I THOUGHT THIS WAS AMERICA!!!

Sounds about right! Costco does not issue official Government ID'.
Ask your self "Would the accept Costco card in another country?".

They used to. I literally got my passport at a Costco.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Used to? That not right! You got it at Costco, but did Costco made it ?

[–] [email protected] 7 points 4 days ago (2 children)

Yeah; it used to be something you could get done in the photo department. They take the picture, file the paperwork and print out the passport.

It’s the Kirkland Passport - it’s actually just a rebranded US passport, but cheaper, and only Costco is allowed to sell it.

Perfect for when you need to travel in bulk!

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 days ago

I didn't know about that!

[–] [email protected] 7 points 4 days ago

Technically they would allow it, seeing as costco is a worldwide company.

Now how you enter that other country is a bit more problematic.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 4 days ago

They do at Costco in other countries

[–] heavy 8 points 4 days ago

By the rights vested in me through the power of Costco....

[–] [email protected] 7 points 4 days ago

Fuck you I won’t do what you tell me

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 days ago

Sounds like a marketing opportunity

Is this the only form of identification you have?

But I went to law school there! And I got my ‘too done at Costco! Now let me on this damn plane!

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 days ago

Sam's Club still accepted.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 days ago

TSA is awake enough to notice the wrong ID? Don't they tend to allow a lot of weapons?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 4 days ago

What about the Costco credit card? Not only does it have a photo but it requires an official credit check.
