I think it's really interesting that everyone seems to have had either a humanoid running along side the car or something aiming from their eyes that can cut/smash only certain types of things. I wonder what makes it happen.

My childhood had some guy surfing on the power lines.
omg mine was inspired by Jet Set radio characters, grinding on the power lines, rooftops & whatnot ! quite close
I had Sonic, from the Sonic Riders series. Seeing as Sonic could slide through some cable thing, made sense. Plus, like, Danny Phantom, maybe, and maybe others.
hell yes! I'm my case, I rode a dirt bike just next to the highway jumping overpasses, dodging trees and whatever else I needed to do to keep pace with the car without crashing
I always imagined a ninja doing flips and shit.
Mine was also a ninja that used signs as weapons. He'd pull them out of the ground and use them like swords.
Signposts with reflectors on them had special powers depending on the reflector color.
I'm glad this post exists, I thought it was just me.
I had a blade extending from my hand and cut down everything we passed like telephone poles and trees and mailboxes but I couldn't let it touch metal so I had to angle my hand up if we passed anything like that.
I had the same thing except it was some sort of laser and since I have aphantasia I didn't get to see any of it and just looked for weak spots.
Similar, I had lasers coming out of the side mirrors but would have to take my hand off the “button” so it wouldn’t cut down the signs, telephone poles, mailboxes, people, etc.
I don't recall imagining a particular character, just a humanoid figure running alongside and jumping over/dodging stuff.
Apparently this is one of those things that nobody ever talks about, but a lot of people did.
I only see my imaginary friend when I take too much Benadryl
Nightmare fuel, thanks
Actually less scary tbh 😄
hat man my beloved<3

Mine was a cool skateboard dude who did the most amazing grinds and flips
I hadn't remembered this in years, but I always imagined myself out there like the Flash and how my older brothers were in the car watching me burn it up and being super impressed. I literally might not have remembered that during my entire adult life. Thanks for reminding me. Although I was more like seven at the time.
I would imagine a BMX bike in tow. Using bridge embankments to clear roads... 😎
Me too :)
No, all of ya'll are crazy. The dot of dirt on the window was the aiming device for a laser, and you had to use it to cut all the electrical wires without cutting trees or the poles, because those are wood and it would start a fire.
I always wanted to go here:
Just follow them on and on until I reached some presumably paradisaical location.
Seattle has a park/trail like this
I can hear this photo. Take some fluorescent bulbs along and go at night.
Nah, it was my imaginary friend doing bmx tricks, we didn't have parkour back then.
Also, how could a person run fast enough to keep up with a motor vehicle? Sheesh, does your imagination completely ignore science? You gotta have at least a bicycle to keep up.
Also, this is the first time I've ever seen or heard someone else talk about this kind of daydream. So, it's pretty fucking cool, even though the details aren't the same.
Nah, I just imagine the vehicles two lanes over is armed with lasers and if there's a car in between us, it deflects the laser, otherwise, I lose 1 HP.
(The clouds that look like a face are deities watching you. Trees are sentient and waving at you)
Similar thing with walking. All moving cars have lasers and parked cars shield you from the lasers.
Also, the gap in between two squares of cement on the sidewalks have lava, make sure to not step over the gap.
Damn, I thought I was the only one...
Parkour wasn't a thing when I was 10, for me it was Strider running along with the car and slashing stuff.
Tony Hawk’s
I usually imagined either sonic the hedgehog or one of the velociraptors from jurassic park
Close, but not quite the same. I used my fingers as the imaginary runner, leaping from thing to thing, riding wires, etc.
I just spent 15 minutes trying to figure out wtf anime that is on the top because the style looks like exactly what I'm into, and it turns out I've already seen it lmao
Bubblegum Crisis, it's rad as fuck
From one of the best episodes IMO.
Mine was an imaginary me on a dirt bike doing sick jumps
It's more fun in a high speed train
It was Mario, represented by a dirty spot or water droplet on the window, who would be made to jump over things by moving my head up and down
No I was imagining a rod of destruction sticking out the side of the car, and whenever it hit a building we were driving past it would annihilate the building like the juggernaut ran through it.
... isn't that what normal kids thought about?
You guys got a window seat?
I loved sonic riders, so instead of the Lil dude doing parkour, he had a hoverboard to do sick tricks Sometimes the Lil dude was tony hawks
I'm an adult and I still do this lol.
I had a cheetah running along, occasionally a horse. But not in the city, only on the motorway
I had a dragon flying along side. Sometimes it's a bike dodging opposing traffic and jumping ramps
Reminded me of this short film (that’s clearly sponsored by the North Face) from a a few years ago. https://youtu.be/IXw17Cjbeeo
I took my Dramamine so I could read without vomiting.
