As a non US person seeing this clip, all I can think is.... this isn't a surprise at all, the tariff stuff is basically blatant violation of existing trade agreements, being done based on Trumps whims without real justification. Him doing the same 'locally' is just more of the same.

All this gun violence in America and non of it is useful

[–] [email protected] 70 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Not true; we learned last summer how undervalued correct windage is.

[–] [email protected] 30 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Most gun people are really bad at it. Case in point, Trump's almost assassin.

I’m genuinely still not convinced the whole fucking thing wasn’t essentially a hoax

[–] [email protected] 13 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I'm 100% convinced it definitely was a hoax. I was sure of it the moment it happened. I wasn't even surprised - "Oh, here we go! An 'assassination attempt?' Of course!"

Then his ear, which should have been nearly torn off, heals entirely in about 2 weeks?

AND they barely mention it, because they don't want anybody looking too closely at it, and realizing that they blew an innocent (okay, MAGA, so not that innocent) man's head off in front of his family. Someone, probably more than one, on their side is responsible for murder.

Yeah, I’m fairly certain he simply got some color. Remember that he spent several years getting pretty involved with pro wrestling. And the wound was frankly far too clean, and healed far too quickly. Cartilaginous damage tends to leave some kinda messy scars, and are often noticeable with even the best healthcare, but he’s got nary a scratch.

He was hit by shrapnel, not a bullet. Which is why it took them an extra week to get their favorite sketchy doctor to give a false medical report after the first doc refused to say it was a bullet wound

[–] gravitas_deficiency 1 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

Shrapnel from what…? Iirc there was a wood podium.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 22 hours ago

I believe it was from one of those clear glass teleprompters.

There were reports of Trump being in a haze afterwards, like he had PTSD.

Also, there's specific accounts of that guy being so bad at guns that his school gun team kicked him out.

school gun team

This fucking country, man.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 22 hours ago* (last edited 22 hours ago)

They're generally well organized for competitions. Lots of countries have them for airguns when they can't get full firearms. They emphasize safety and shooting skills.

He was specifically kicked out because he shot across lanes. That's a huge safety risk and will get you kicked out of most ranges. The club acted correctly.

[–] [email protected] 23 points 1 day ago (3 children)

Yeah, for a nation that is as obsessed with firearms as the United States, the people there are shockingly poor marksmen.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I once had someone at a range tell me "Well, I live in the city. I don't get out to the range as often," and I replied "I don't own a gun."

Fundamentals are fundamentals. Most people learn how to pull the trigger and think they're Rambo. You wouldn't believe the amount of times I've had to tell people they're loading their mags BACKWARDS.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 21 hours ago

You know where I first learned my most important lesson of firearm safety? An anime from the 80s called Saber Rider and the Stat Sheriffs. The lesson was, "the gun is always loaded". It was repeated to me throughout my military career.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Longest recorded sniper kills

U.S. appears twice in the top 10 at #8 and #9.

[–] [email protected] 21 points 1 day ago (1 children)

That's less impressive when you consider just how much bigger the US military is compared to the next several combined.

It's like bragging that your home state has more skilled athletes than 5 small towns from a neighboring state.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Sorry, I should clarify I was making fun of them.

Without even looking at the list I bet most of those people are Canadian or trained by the Canadians. They do not fuck around.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 day ago

Ukraine - Canada - Australia - Ukraine - UK - Canada - Canada

Considering Ukraine has a bit of an "advantage" rn, mostly Canada.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 day ago

no, mentally unbalanced people who sneak around trying to assassinate people are bad marksmen… usually….

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 day ago

Butterfly Effect in practice.

[–] [email protected] 19 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Mainly because the wrong people are the vast majority of gun owners.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 day ago

Always has been.

[–] [email protected] 18 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (4 children)

Oh no, a thumby nose? That’ll show him

[–] [email protected] 18 points 1 day ago

Tbf they have been really pissing off Trump these last few weeks. That’s a win imo.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 day ago

They're a news program. What exactly are you expecting them to do instead?

[–] [email protected] 14 points 1 day ago

It's at least accurate in scale. No slamming, eviscerating, choke hold throw from the top rope, etc.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 day ago

Obviously something they've been doing got under his skin because they ousted their long time leader and spirit animal Bill Owens.
