I could have sworn this was a fake story, if this is actually real we have gone full North Korea...

[–] [email protected] 15 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

100,000 people should show up and all of them moon him.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 7 hours ago

I don’t mind being shot standing up for what’s right, but I don’t want to be shot in the ass.

On top being a dicktorial huge waste of money, the M1 Abrams is an extremely heavy tank to use on roads that haven't been well maintained. Given his habits and hissy fits, the Donvict is going to stick whatever mayor for the bill to repair those roads. This was one of the reasons the Pentagon denied tanks last time for a parade request and proposed Striker Vehicles instead. He got mad as he does in his man child ways because he wanted the big tanks . Probably wants soldiers to do the high heel kick march as is tradition when preparing for a world war. The higher the kick the higher the success rate.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Sorry have to disagree on your last sentence there. The Wehrmacht didn't kick particularly high - unlike in Soviet tradition

[–] [email protected] 11 points 8 hours ago

as is tradition when preparing for a world war. The higher the kick the higher the success rate.

And that's probably why they lost! Gotta get that hip flexion going!

[–] [email protected] 3 points 6 hours ago

3rd world immigrants watching the 3rd world dictator experience come to the US lol.

Next the Pentagon will release a national we love the American government song lmao

[–] [email protected] 9 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

So many guns will e parading near him that day... sure hope there's no accidental shots...

[–] [email protected] 1 points 9 minutes ago

A couple of thousand well planned and well aimed shots would be ideal.

[–] [email protected] 27 points 11 hours ago

No waste, fraud, or abuse here. No siree.

The White House is denying reports that it plans to hold a military parade in Washington on President Donald Trump’s birthday in June. But now claim it would be held on June 14, which happens to be the birthday of both the U.S. Army and the dictator-in-chief. Krasnov wanted the Pentagon to explore staging a military parade in the nation’s capital in his first term, after witnessing Bastille Day celebrations in Paris. “I don’t know. We’re gonna have to try and top it,”

[–] [email protected] 2 points 7 hours ago

I wouldn't mind celebrating Bastille Day. Krasnov can be the centerpiece of the occasion. CHOP

[–] [email protected] 1 points 7 hours ago

Everytime he says "I don't know" you can replace that with "I feel insecure."

[–] [email protected] 5 points 8 hours ago

The Germans liked parades too, back when they were goose-stepping across Europe

[–] [email protected] 58 points 15 hours ago (7 children)

At the risk of asking a dumb question, isn't parading military units down public streets the sort of thing communist dictatorships do?

I know I've seen video of this sort of thing from places like North Korea and Soviet Russia, can't say I've really seen it from the states.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 8 hours ago

Everything that they said would come true under communism has come true under capitalism

[–] [email protected] 35 points 11 hours ago

It's a dictator thing regardless of alleged political ideology.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 8 hours ago

That isn't a dumb question. It's a correct observation.

[–] [email protected] 43 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

and fascist dictators too. so it is more of a dictator fetish

[–] [email protected] 5 points 8 hours ago

And now a fetish of dickless-tators too.

[–] [email protected] 17 points 12 hours ago

Yeah, basically. It's treating the countries service members and equipment as personally owned property to play with.

[–] [email protected] 28 points 15 hours ago (2 children)

Yes, although it has nothing to do with communism and everything to do with dictatorship, ultra nationalism and the strongman image.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

Most communism has nothing to do with communism.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 12 hours ago

Well said and very true.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 14 hours ago* (last edited 14 hours ago)

Hitler and Mussolini had it and im sure the romans and greeks did it too. It just feels like an attempt at normalizing war in the mind of the people.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 14 hours ago* (last edited 14 hours ago) (1 children)

Many countries have military parades. Not just dictatorships. France has a military parade on Bastille Day. It’s a tradition started in 1880. The Netherlands has one during Veterans Day, Mexico on Independence Day and Italy during Republic Day to name a few.

[–] [email protected] 27 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

And the US on Trump's birthday. Find the odd one of the group..

[–] [email protected] 5 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

It's also on the day that the US Army has existed for 250 years and supposedly has been in planning for two years per APNews. Not to say Trump won't make it about himself but it's not just his birthday.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 12 hours ago

The latter being the only reason the military is going along with this.

The first time, orange mussolini was in power he wanted a parade, so they had to create a bylaw in DC saying there would be no tanks in the streets because the pavement couldn't take it. That is how they stopped this stupid show of self agrandization the first time.

Maybe, if this goes ahead, they can find a way to parade all the aircraft carriers and nuclear subs that terrorize the world every day.

[–] [email protected] 185 points 20 hours ago

Hey DOGE, I found some wasteful spending.

That'd make an ok protest sign.

[–] [email protected] 156 points 20 hours ago* (last edited 20 hours ago) (1 children)

A reminder that Q1 25 federal spending under Trump has increased over Biden's Q1 24 spending. A reminder that tariffing the fuck out if the world will only exponentially increase spending.

Not that anyone pro-Trump/conservative actually cares about reigning in spending. It's all an excuse to punish brown people and poor people.

[–] [email protected] 56 points 19 hours ago (2 children)

These are the same assholes who claim they want small government then cheer government curtailing rights when it's something they didn't like (women's rights, religious freedoms, sending people to prisons in foreign countries). Government spending is just a magic word they use for "things I don't know about or don't care for"

[–] [email protected] 10 points 15 hours ago

Don't forget expanding the welfare state so the "welfare queen" companies can loot the taxpayers dry with no barriers.

Sounds like a great day for mass protests

[–] [email protected] 56 points 18 hours ago

They represent the Army’s most recent blueprint for its long-planned 250th anniversary festival on the National Mall and the newly added element — a large military parade that Trump has long wanted but is still being discussed.

The Army anniversary just happens to coincide with Trump’s 79th birthday on June 14.

What an infuriating coincidence.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 14 hours ago

Fuck this guy and his cronies. Fuck them right in the egg McMuffin

[–] [email protected] 14 points 15 hours ago

Seems like a good day to.protest

[–] [email protected] 65 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

So I guess Trump's "I'm not planning for a military parade" statement was another lie. What a surprise.

[–] [email protected] 41 points 19 hours ago (4 children)

It's a surprise birthday parade, he doesn't know about it.
