101 days. That's 9.2 Mooches or 2.3 Trusses if you prefer the metric system.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Don't be silly, mooches and trusses are obviously imperial measurements. You can tell because there's several of them to measure the exact same thing, and with no obvious relationship between them.

Case in point, imperial length: 12 inches make a foot, 3 feet make a yard, and 1760 yards make a mile.

Metric length: 1000 millimetres make a meter, 1000 meters make a kilometer. Wild huh?

To be fair, minutes, hours and days have received the "Works with SI" stamp, but they're not official measures. The metric unit for time is the second, with the rest being defined as multiples of that (a day being 86400 sec, etc.)

Imperial/metric flame war! Fuck it, let's get even more pedantic and go back to using decimal time. 10 hours a day, 100 minutes an hour, and 100 seconds a minute, all altered in duration to fit into their superlative hierarchical tier. A day would then be 100000 decimal seconds. Does that make the metric powers of 10 part of your brain happy?

/s for fake passive-aggression. I'm not actually upset, your comment just reminded me of decimal time.

On a related note, 60 (seconds per minute, minutes per hour) is a cool number because it's divisible by so many factors: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 10, 12, 15, 20, 30, and 60. It's because 60 is divisible by so many numbers that we can have increments of an hour be in while numbers of minutes without decimals. A quarter hour is 15 minutes. A third is 20 minutes. One tenth is 6 minutes. Base 60 seconds and minutes are flexible and convenient.

Anyways, that's enough late night rambling. Enjoy your day, internet stranger.

I'm surprised we made it 100 days without Trump firing any of his own hires.
In his first term it seemed like we couldn't go a week without somebody being fired and him making a statement about not knowing them personally or having never met them.
I'd expect more to follow shortly though, it's an addiction for him and now that he got that taste of dopamine he gets from a power trip, he'll probably be doing more of it.

Last time, Trump just appointed people that were recommended to him and who could get by the Senate. Trump kept having to get rid of them whenever they refused to break the law or violate their code of ethics.

This time he's appointed nothing but people that were already lined up for the positions by Project 2025 based solely on loyalty. Since the Republicans control the senate, they all flew through with flying colors. This batch are happy to break the law for him and they have no ethics.

The only reason this guy is out is that he's an astonoshingly incompetent DUI hire.

The only reason this guy is out is that he’s an astonishingly incompetent DUI hire.

Hegseth hasn't been sober since he was 3 and he's still...uh...let's call it "working".

[–] Kecessa 4 points 1 month ago

Yep, first time he wasn't expecting to win at all so he wasn't ready, you can see it in the video of him when it's announced, he's not happy.

[–] [email protected] 21 points 1 month ago

Now fire the drunk in the pentagon

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I'm not sure how this saves Hegseth, he's the common denominator in all the signal group chat fuck ups. I say we keep pushing.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 month ago

Mike Waltz invited The Atlantic journalist to the signal group chat, which means he probably had his phone number saved in his contacts. There's no way Trump trusted Waltz after that, and probably thought Waltz was not loyal, going behind his back talking to journalists, which was the death knell for Waltz. As long as Hegseth proves and maintains his loyalty to Trump, he can keep fucking up. Loyalty is more important to Trump than competence.

[–] nkat2112 6 points 1 month ago

Only the best, folks. Only the best.

These DUI hires have been amazing in the worst way imaginable.

[–] Kecessa 3 points 1 month ago

He only hires the best people!

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago

Still not a complete shut down on him, since he's gonna serve in another position. But better than nothing.

More interestingly, many said Waltz (who created the first signal group) would be the one to get the axe first, and not Hegseth (the one actually leaking classified data, twice) - not because he fumbled, but because he publicly admitted it, he admitted he made a mistake.

Curious to see what happens next, but so far the prophecy holds true enough.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Let's hope the next guy is just as incompetent.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Name a single Trump cabinet member that you could call "highly competent" regardless of your political opinion of him/her. You can't.

So no worries.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago

Hell, name one of them that you would call even mildly competent.

(With the caveat, of course, that "competence" refers to "serving the best interests of the US" and not "turning everything to shit for Trump.")

I need the sad trombone pic for this.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Guess it's up to me now that we lost Squid. Here ya go:

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

What happened to that guy?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

All I know is he officially left the platform by choice. Even if I did know more, it's probably not my place to say.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I remember seeing him all over lemmy what seemed like 24/7. Then I remember him talking about maybe leaving the country or something. Hope he’s doing alright.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago

He did leave the country and kept posting for awhile after. Pretty sure they decided to step away from the platform.

[–] delgato 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Is this finally the first head to roll in this administration? It’s a shame this guy won’t see any real accountability.

[–] ThePantser 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

No but he may meet a Mario Bro in his future.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 month ago

Brother stop your empty revenge fantasies. No one wants to go to jail for the rest of their lives or shot by bodyguards for killing soulless MAGA lich #26153 that will be replaced within minutes if not seconds. FORMER Maga lich no less.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago

This cunt should find no peace for the remainder of his pathetic life.
