No way, there's absolutely nothing fishy going on with Leto. It's a totally normal, completely above board, women only island cult.

Fun fact Jared Leto has been to my flat before (i didnt live there yet), took a bite out of an apple belonging to my roommate and left it there. He also signed the kitchen table.

I could easily prove this btw because there is video evidence, but doing so would dox my address so im not going to.

[–] ExtantHuman@lemm.ee 20 points 1 week ago (1 children)

...and some say, to this day, the apple is still there.

The moment someone starts going all "anti-woke" you know they've got something to hide and they are trying to get acquainted with the pardon-dealing industry.

[–] skisnow@lemmy.ca 54 points 1 week ago

Yeah. Forcing himself on women was entirely consistent with his public persona, but shifting hard right just to seek cover makes it so much scummier.

Nah. It was the moment he turned to Jesus and got baptised I realised he was guilty.

The right wing shift was for the money.

The moment someone “gets jesus” it’s time to alert the authorities.

"Rapist Russell Brand charged with attempted comedy"

[–] BadmanDan@lemmy.world 89 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (2 children)

He’ll be on Joe Rogan in about a month

[–] BleatingZombie@lemmy.world 59 points 1 week ago

Freudian slip, but true nonetheless

Well, I've seen this coming for a while now, but I must admit, I actually liked him once upon a time. His comedy specials weren't just funny, they made you think about the abstract ideas of religion and consciousness. He was like a handsome rockstar comedian, the sort of person I wish I could be. Smart, sexy, cool, interesting. Hell, when I got sober from alcohol, reading his book that re-imagined the twelve steps into something less religious actually helped.

But then I heard the rumors, and it kind of fit with the image he gave himself. And then he made that abrupt turn into right-wing conspiracy and that all but confirmed it. To be honest I thought he'd already been charged with something and had just celebrity-ed his way out of it. Sucks, man.

[–] Bosht@lemmy.world 29 points 1 week ago

Hey, help is help, don't let his failings mean that your success is somehow tarnished. I get the sentiment as well. He was a little over the top for my taste but the reboot of Arthus he did still ranks pretty high on my list.

[–] ChickenLadyLovesLife@lemmy.world 23 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I loved Dennis Miller back in the '80s, before he made his heel turn into a right-wing douche. In retrospect, I realize I actually just liked the SNL writers coupled with his snarky delivery.

But he's always seemed so sane and stable?

[–] SippyCup@feddit.nl 45 points 1 week ago (6 children)

Certainly not the type of guy they would write a movie about an unstable, unpredictable, impulsive, and self centered rock star with him in mind to play the lead.

[–] CptOblivius@lemmy.world 60 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I am shocked!...it took this long. Dude has been a creep forever. He has been getting exponentially worse as time has went on.

And his right-wing transformation is now complete.

[–] sunbytes@lemmy.world 22 points 1 week ago (5 children)

I'm not entirely sure it wasn't the other way around.

He probably knew some charges were coming years ago, and started adapting his output accordingly.

This explains his sudden turn to Christianity last year. He's going to try the "God forgave me" defense.

Rapist Russell Brand charged with Attempted Comedy

[–] wanderwisley@lemm.ee 50 points 1 week ago

It’s always the people who you expect the most.

[–] baldingpudenda@lemmy.world 50 points 1 week ago

I've been thinking for a while that people that have a sudden right wing or andrew tate sphere turn are really just trying to get with like minded rapist, or whatever they're into, circles. Basically networking and putting out signals.

Hard to believe someone who looks like a rapist and acts like a rapist is a rapist.

So it goes something like this:

  • Man rapes
  • Man gets away with it for a while
  • Man gets charged for it
  • Man joins the far-right

I consider his transformation into a double-Christian to be a confession that all the accusations are true. The biggest pieces of dogshit always face consequence mumbling prayers and missives.

after a police investigation into allegations made following the broadcast of a Channel 4 documentary

"The Crown Prosecution Service reminds everyone that criminal proceedings are active, and the defendant has the right to a fair trial.

Were the allegations not brought to the police before the tv documentary? Why didn't the police investigate before? If so there should be an investigation and prosecution of those involved in the "non-investigation".

This failure to investigate is an outrage, many people including me listened to Russel Brand in the 2010s, but the police failed to investigate and now has the gall to say "the defendant has a right to a fair trial"? Does the public not also have a right to a fail investigation and prosecution?
