Trump and the Trump administration are behaving like assholes all over the world.
USA has never been so universally unpopular.

Flight passangers from Canada to USA are down 70%.
Tesla sales in Europe are down 50%.

The boycotts have begun, and numbers like these may be common for 2025.
Trump will cost many jobs in USA, and increased inflation, and it seems an economic downturn too.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 2 months ago

Ok but you missed the part that the libs are mad.

Thinking about why the US is so keen on Greenland: It's only relevant for them if they intend to make enemies out of the EU, because they already have all the access they need. But only as long as they are allied with Europe.

It's clear where this is headed. Russia is not the only reason why Europe is rearming.

[–] [email protected] 31 points 2 months ago (2 children)

He's planning to withdraw from NATO. Otherwise it makes no sense. USA already has more or less free access to build any military base they want there

USA already has more or less free access to build any military base they want there

Which makes it extra stupid that Trump is demanding that he own Greenland for security reasons. The Americans can already expand their base there whenever they want.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Danish news today talked about Trump and his people maybe not being aware of this. They are sure that the US consulate on Greenland has informed them but they are not confident that the administration even knows this.

I think that they are either being naive, kind or sarcastic

The plan is easy:

  • USA take Canada, greenland and everything up to Panama for Security Reason.
  • Russia take back some part of Europe because they are talking Russian.
  • China take South Korea with North Korea and Taiwan because it’s China anyway...

Easy plan for megalo-dictators

why the US is so keen on Greenland

Testing the invasion waters with something most EUs will not want to risk their lives over, and then he doesn't need to justify what he has on his airbase there.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 months ago (1 children)

That is also why he wants an ICBM defense mesh, because realistically that's the only chance Europe has to cripple us in a fight.

[–] [email protected] 18 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Hardly. There are many ways to "cripple" the US without need to resort to a simple-minded military slugfest.

They could act to support Trump's next reelection bid, for example. That'd be more devastating to American power than a nuke.

Goddamn we suck so hard right now.

[–] [email protected] 20 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Don't even have to ask if we are the baddies

[–] [email protected] 9 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Yeah, I think that's one of the scariest things. Previous presidents have done a lot of terrible things, but there's always been a basic rhetoric of morality- at oeast a pretence that official policy us "the right thing".

The US's latest bunch of clown have openly hateful and dishonest language, without any sense of shame. I don't even think we've seen the beginning of the level of cruelty a country can achieve when it suddenly abandons any rule of law or accountability.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 2 months ago

"but there's always been a basic rhetoric of morality- at oeast a pretence that official policy us "the right thing""

That's what they taught me in school. It's absolutely bullshit. This country was built on genocide to perpetrate slavery. It's a warmongering nation that destroys other countries to ensure its own economic dominance on the world stage.

[–] [email protected] 35 points 2 months ago

These fascists need to dangle 🥰

[–] [email protected] 31 points 2 months ago

I can’t believe so many people voted for this deranged game show host.

[–] [email protected] 30 points 2 months ago (2 children)

All of a sudden the conservative rhetoric is that indigenous Greenlanders are mistreated by the Danes and that’s unfair; they need America’s help.

[–] [email protected] 29 points 2 months ago (1 children)

That's such transparently stupid bullshit. If they believed that they'd start by helping indigenous Americans. It sickens me that so many people are idiotic enough to either believe this or just not care.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 months ago

It’s sickening and fucking enraging. It puts my mind for a spin.

I don't want Greenland, I just want you to stop bombing kids and work on our Healthcare. Why on the fuck are you even looking at Greenland????

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 months ago

Best I can do is a Central American shooting war.

[–] [email protected] 22 points 2 months ago (5 children)

Please, Europe, just take this as a declaration war and attack the US now to nip this in the bud.

The sooner this child is stopped, the sooner the world can improve.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 2 months ago (1 children)

The worst part is that he is completely unhinged and I can easily imagine launching some nuclear nukes towards Europe.

Try as I may to avoid this absurd political reality I find myself in, I am continuously dumbfounded by these headlines. I have to check everytime if the post is an Onion article.

[–] lka1988 18 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (3 children)

The Onion is gonna go bankrupt at this rate. I just imagine the editors coming up with stories and headlines, only to crumple and toss them in the trash whenever Trump holds a press conference.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 2 months ago

The Dutch equivalent of The Onion actually send a cease and desist letter to one of our ministers, because they can't compete with the shit she is saying (this woman gives Trump's government a run for their money in terms of both evilness and incompetence)

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

I picture a sign at Onion HQ.

It has been 0 0 3 days since we were accidentally factual news.

a strange part of me wants to see this go as badly as possible because that's how much I hate Donald Trump and all of the Americans who voted for him and the ones who didn't vote. but that's me being an angry psychopath right? I shouldn't feel this way or want these things. they're really bad

[–] [email protected] 12 points 2 months ago (3 children)

I have full confidence that the US Military could take Greenland, I don't have confidence that the US could deal with the international fallout that would come from it.

I'm in a similar boat. I hate that these people have turned me into someone who has such disdain and hatred for individuals. I hate that they've made me into someone who wakes up everyday with a deep-seated desire to read about their deaths.

I fucking hate it. I don't want to be that person.

I would like to believe not that the worst happens to the USA, because of the damage that could do globally. But, I do hope that if Trump tried to take Greenland unprovoked that the citizens would not stand for it.

A hope that is quickly dwindling...

So what he’s telling us is that he’s wanting to fight a war on two fronts: one from within and one from without. I see. Very well then. He’s made his bed.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 2 months ago

Nice try, Donvict. You and your coward yes-men have their incompetence signal exposed and the distractions aren't working anymore. Please resign! We need Republican Senators to grow a spine, be pro-USA, not tolerate incompetent national security, and impeach this loser.

When the hell will the military arrest this stinky Orange Turd as an enemy to the state?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 months ago

While Hedgeseth runs the Pentagon? Never.

I wonder if Americans will wake up and start to push back when they and their families start dying for this stuff. Taking over other countries means death and not just to those who are being taken over.

Come on UK. We need a Bond. James Luigi Bond to right this ship.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 2 months ago (3 children)

Im out of the loop on this. Why does the US want greenland?

[–] [email protected] 12 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Whole lotta minerals that will get a lot easier to exploite as the planet warms.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 months ago

Mining minerals to turn into phones so I can read about how bad of an ecological impact it is to mine minerals to turn into phones.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Same reason he just cut Australia out of an illegal deep sea mining contract and why he’ll cut the western saharans out of their homeland and take the minerals from Morocco.

Cause he’s starting a super edgelord team of billionaires who’s trying to stack the deck for the next 200 years.

Nah bone spurs!

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 months ago (2 children)

I wish Trump and his people to really go as far as they have to....And to stay there. Evena bit farther, I won't complain
